Hey people!
I’m Yutaka, CEO of STUDIO, but also a web designer. Me and @keimakai1993 created STUDIO because we were tired of spending endless hours coding, setting up servers, and creating prototypes. We just want to focus on the best part of web design: designing!
Unlike illustration based design tools such as Figma or Sketch, on STUDIO you can actually publish your website design without having to translate it into code.
We’re excited to launch an all-new version of STUDIO today built from the ground up. When we were first hunted in 2017, we were a prototyping tool. Today we are an all-in-one design platform.
A summary of some great new features:
- Publish your website design without coding
- Collaborate in real time with other team members
- Drag & Drop 3.0: a much smoother and intuitive design experience
- Dark mode: Focus on perfecting your design without distractions.
- Brand new video course and learning resources to quickly master STUDIO
Signing up is free, give it a go and let us know what you think in the comments 🙂

OKAY, this looks SUPER cool (like a much more intuitive Webflow) BUT does it let you export the code like webflow does?
Definitely signing up to try this later but need to know because currently that's something I love in webflow. Because I can export the code, I can use the designs I make as a base to turn into a Jekyll site for example.
@stefania Yes please do. It's huge plus for Webflow. Studio seems amazing to be honest but if I can't export the code it's of little use to me.. I'm thinking about using it as a prototyping tool and then building the site in Webflow so that I can export the code. But really, code export would make this unbeatable and I'd happily switch from Webflow (provided it's as good as it seems, have not tried it yet but will soon).
@bekkers92 Hey Tom, thanks for the comment! I think the main difference is that Webflow is a visual coding tool, while I would rather describe STUDIO as a design tool whose output is a fully functional end product. Overall designing with STUDIO is more intuitive and less focused on coding. Also, we have real time collaboration: designers and marketers alike can edit the page at the same time and see what others are up to.
When STUDIO was on Product Hunt during August'17, it got amazing fans and turned out to be the top Product of the day then.
They have come a long way in the last 15 months. From just being a prototyping tool to where it is now is just worth appreciating.
Now, you can design the website of your dreams and go live in just one click - totally code-free.
@ytk141 is one of the founders of STUDIO, he along with his team will be here
I’ve been using the beta for a few months now and it gives you all the controls you need to make your site very customizable while getting pages published FAST!
Pros:
Very intuitive and easy features allow rapid page designs that are fully responsive. Live collaboration works great too.
Cons:
Would be nice if there was a CMS solution integrated.
@ytk141 Great product! I was wondering is there a way to download the HTML files of the generated website if I don't want to publish or connect to a domain?
I love STUDIO!You don't need any html code knowledge to make website!
It is very easy to design and publish responsive website here :)
Highly recommend to anyone!
@maaya_rida_syed next on the agenda for the year is a CMS and components. The overall vision is to be a one stop platform where designers can create anything they like with the same ease as the tools they currently love
The Studio has come a long way! I watched all of your tutorial videos, and it seems that Studio is way more intuitive compared to something like Webflow. I suppose this is where future is heading and in that case, you’re ahead of the curve.
I was thinking of making my next project in Studio but realised that you don’t allow code export. It’s an odd choice given that you don’t support that many 3rd party apps yet. I use Gumroad to sell digital assets, and as it stands, you currently do not support it. I understand that you want to force people into purchasing your premium plan, but it’s not a good idea to do so until you a have a large list of supported apps. I believe that a lot of people would be willing to pay you even more if you just allowed them to export code. You can pivot your business plan once your product is ready. Just my thoughts anyhow.
I also wished that Studio supported components/symbols that can be reused. As people already mentioned before, it’s a big trend and would go hand-in-hand with your collaboration feature.
Keep up the good work and, most importantly, don’t sell out to InVision. We need some more healthy competition. 😅👌
Sugoi! Maji Yabai! Arigato gozaimus for making this! I really this product! This is the future UI/UX Design! Well done to you & the team! Much respect & love from me! ❤️ Congratulations! 🥳✨🎉
Looking forward to giving this a try.
Question: how would it work for someone designing a website for a client? Is there a way to hand it off, and if that client wants a CMS does that mean they end up paying $27/month? That’s kind of steep for a lot of small businesses, especially when managed WordPress hosting can be had for as low as $15/month.
Also, do you have anything like blocks or sections? Either pre-made ones or a way to save your own?
And how about global styles, like colors, fonts, etc?
Thanks!
@nicksimard Thanks for the questions Nick!
You can easily hand off the work by adding your clients to the project and changing editing and ownership rights as needed. The client will be able to easily edit the text directly on STUDIO. As for the CMS, we actually haven't rolled it out yet, we are planning to release it after April this year. Pricing for that plan is still subject to change and it would be good to hear what you think is a fair price.
What exactly do you mean with blocks or sections? We have template components and wireframe components that you can use and costumize as you need, if that's what you are looking for.
Finally, you can style many elements at once using multiple selection, and you can also save colors you use often on a project on the project color palette, same thing for fonts. For more advanced styling, we are planning to release components in the next few months to make styling at scale even more efficient.
Definitely give it a go and let us know what you think :)
@stefania Oh.. that's bad news for non-Chrome users then. I hope this isn't the beginning of the next "Best viewed with Netscape / Internet Explorer" browser wars :)
