For non-americans, what are the differences in terms of benefits/drawback for an LLC vs CCORP?
Csaba Kissi
@pjrvs I'm really interested too.

@pjrvs @csaba_kissi Founders from around the world can use Stripe Atlas to form an LLC or a C Corporation. It's up to you to figure out which entity is right for you. One consideration that is quite relevant for members of an LLC who live outside the U.S. or are not U.S. citizens is taxation. Owning an LLC can expose non-U.S. owners to very complicated tax situations. Non-U.S. members may be subject to US _personal_ income taxes on the company's income. Some non-US founders choose to form C Corporations because the _company_ is taxed on the company's income. More on this here: https://stripe.com/atlas/guides/.... This gets complicated fast, so we recommend folks chat with a lawyer or accountant to dig into the details of what's right for them.

@pjrvs @csaba_kissi @taylorfrancis as an accountant I will be able to help advise you on tax minimisation.

Hi, Product Hunt - We're super excited to bring Stripe Atlas for LLCs to you. We've got the entire Atlas for LLC team ready to answer questions about the product or even LLCs in general. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Please launch in South Africa ❤️. Would make life for us Indie Founders so much easier. We don't have decent payment processors in SA 😭.
Jacques van Heerden
@ronald you'll still be looking at a 7day roll on funds availability which PayPal does offer, but yes, I agree that SA needs bigger players in the space. — Sidenote, saw you enjoyed the barrels in my hometown(Jbay).
Ronald Langeveld
@jacquesvh Yes that's exactly what I'm dealing with at the moment... Paypal is linked to my FNB account. :)

Highly recommend Stripe Atlas. Used them for C Corp, and service is impeccable. It took 1 week for everything to be done, including bank account. Very impressed!

Do you also plan to extend Stripe Atlas to register business in other countries like Singapore?

@akashdmukherjee17 That's definitely on our radar, though we don't have plans to share just yet. (Would be interested in hearing your thoughts on _where_ would be most useful, though! Either here or via email at tmf@stripe.com)

The guys at Stripe Atlas were amazing to get everything setup for a C-Corp in the past. I imagine the LLC offering will be just as great.

Pros:

Fast program

Cons:

Silicon Valley Bank

Ivan Braun
Is Silicon Valley Bank a bad thing? Could you elaborate please?
Alex Panagis
What made you list SVB as a con?

Great, next make our dream come true: EU VAT MOSS handled by Stripe.

Do we have to register our LLC in Delaware still? I understand the benefits of a C Corp, but an LLC? Can we register in our state of residency?

@s_carlson The Stripe Atlas LLC is formed in Delaware. The fact that Delaware corporate law is widely understood presents advantages for forming an LLC there, just as for corporations. It also simplifies the path to converting to a Delaware C Corporation down the road (i.e. if you end up raising money from investors). That said, we're starting out in beta and are certainly open to adding other LLC jurisdictions down the road.

Is there a platform to facilitate an introduction to accountants to advise on tax implications?

@richard_graham We do connect Stripe Atlas founders with layers and accountants, with special discounts. Here's an example of how this works during tax season: https://stripe.com/blog/atlas-taxes. Happy to talk more about it - tmf@stripe.com

Great making things more accessible for outsiders, settings up LLC's and Ccorps were an expensive endeavour for us a few years ago before all this became available. Good luck, team.

Is there any way to move my inc to llc?
Bill Hinderman
If I've already started my LLC recently, is there an opportunity to still use Atlas?

@billhinderman Today, Stripe Atlas helps you set up everything -- including a new company -- but we're definitely thinking about ways to make it available to more folks in the future.

Very cool, long awaited!

I have a saas product already in beta and have about 60 plus beta testers working out kinks and adding few more functionality modules... Would this be for me? I feel once I am ready to move to alpha/release mode is where my stopping point will be in terms of outside of my experience. I know I will needs lots of help. I am the developer and the not marketing guy.
Antonio J Olander
Bump, just curious would this be for me?
Craig Calderone
Just registered for a C Corp and said couple weeks to get back. Can someone help expedite? Also curious about IP protection, how does this come into play if founders fall under another agreement?
Danny Tran
Can’t wait to try out Stripe Atlas! Looks so easy to use!

Beautiful website and really attractive product. Unfortunately it's a couple hundred dollars more expensive than the alternatives, and I don't think the website makes it clear enough what the benefits are of using Atlas (other than the pretty design) over something like RocketLawyer or LegalZoom. Stripe account setup... well that's free anyhow. Bank account setup is okay, I assume that's only saving me like 5 minutes or so. Special offers for startups are usually already publicly available coupon codes. Tool for issuing stocks to founders sounds interesting, but we're setting that up at the start and maybe won't be necessary for the first year. Not saying these things to be negative, just giving impressions from someone in your customers' demographics. I ended up going with one of the alternatives because I'm bootstrapping my startup and the value wasn't immediately evident to double the price of this legal work.
Helyn Sauhi
This is very great and is good to be noted.
