@_jeremiahs this is great, is it on your roadmap to tag all the startups so people can also search related terms e.g. femtech, and pull up relevant results?
Jeremiah Smith
@abadesi Yes! We actually already have a basic version of this implemented at the moment. Check out the Discover section on the left side menu, you can pull up startups by Market and/or keyword. It's a form of boolean search so you can add as many filter as you want. Did you have something like this in mind?
Abadesi
@_jeremiahs Yes exactly, niiiiice!
Nitesh Manav
You are a rockstar @_jeremiahs Amazing tool for startups. Can we filter the startups based on 'industries they belong ( like media industry) and the demography of their activity ( like India, USA etc, )?
Nitesh Manav
@_jeremiahs Just checked. There already are such many filters. :D :D Super-amazed. Let me play with it more before asking for the data like founders details and other stuff that #Owler does. :D
Nitesh Manav
@_jeremiahs How to change 'AND' to 'OR' and 'Include' to 'exclude' here- https://cl.ly/nbCe ?
Jeremiah Smith
@niteshmanav it's only 'AND' for the moment, the number of search filters are still pretty small and the feature is in beta, but as we grow the number of filters we might consider having 'OR'. You'd have to do multiple searches for now 😄
Jeremiah Smith
Hi Everyone 👋 You asked for it, we made it! Startup Tracker is now a full-fledged web app, the evolution of our browser extension (note to all makers: if we had to do it all over again, we would have started with a web app. Adding new features and growth/conversion can be tricky with extensions 😉). Thanks for hunting @nikkielizdemere! Why Startup Tracker? Loads of new startups being founded + startup industry growing = information spread across platforms 👉 it’s time the startup community got its own search engine. Current Startup Tracker features:  * Short company summaries with links to profiles on different startup platforms * Magic button to ask for missing info * Track toggle for startups you care about [NEW] * Make startup lists you can share with a link [NEW] * Find relevant startups you didn’t know about! [NEW] What we’re working on: * Radar: weekly emails with new startups matching your specific needs * Updates: weekly digest with updates for startups you track * Our master plan: WAY MORE DATA…more about this soon 🤐 For now, extremely interested in knowing what you think (yes, you reading this right now!) How can we make Startup Tracker even better? Drop a comment below👇 or shoot me a message jeremiah@startuptracker.io Thanks in advance!
Jaoued Ahmed
@nikkielizdemere @startuptracker @_jeremiahs Awesone Guys! When is the Startup Tracker mobile app coming out? Thanks,.
Jeremiah Smith
@jaouedahmed Woohooo you got the first comment🥇 🎉 Not sure yet for native apps, at the moment 90% of our users are on desktop, so we'll probably focus on the responsive web app in the short term. Will keep you posted.
Mohammed Rafy
Cool stuff, Jeremiah. Impressive! I'm working on something similar called startup titles. Would love to connect and get some feedback from you before I actually start building it. Cheers, R
Jeremiah Smith
@rafyasarmatta Sounds good! Drop me an email jeremiah@startuptracker.io 💌
Dante Lex
Really cool. I signup my startup. There is an issues though. Anyone can claim or update any startup profile with the link at the bottom of the page
Jeremiah Smith
@dantelex Don't worry, that's not the case! Once you fill in your details, you have to tweet a validation code from the startup's official account or send the code to our bot from a company email. Profile aren't published until we receive verification codes, so anyone can submit a profile for any startup but only the genuine info will ever be published. Try it out!
Johnathan Zhuang
@_jeremiahs and team. Great work on reaching this milestone. Our company "Capsule Labs" https://startuptracker.io/startu... doesn't show up in search result for "Capsule"?
Startup Tracker
@johnathan_zhuang Yep it looks like Capsule is a widely use term in startup names/descriptions ('nudge' and 'origin' are two others!) we show 10 results for search queries -> https://startuptracker.io/startu... If we show more you might be there, perhaps we should increase the number of results to 20?
Johnathan Zhuang
@_startuptracker 20 would def benefit a few companies like ours ;) For my own curiosity (product guy here :D), what was the decision decision to go with 10, then have user enter Twitter?
Jeremiah Smith
@johnathan_zhuang It was an arbitrary decision, we started with a small page size (10), suspecting we'd have to increase it. This and others confirmed it! For most search terms 10 is enough i.e. if a startup has a peculiar name there will be less than 10 results, the 'send us on a missing' thing is there in case there are no traces of the startup on our platform yet.
Johnathan Zhuang
@_jeremiahs cool. Thanks for answering. Is it worth (in terms of search results) to build a "X more" below the 10 I wonder...
Jeremiah Smith
@johnathan_zhuang Will have a think. Thank you so much for the feedback
Yohei Nakajima

If you're researching lots of startups, it's a nifty tool that speeds up some of your repetitive processes. Looking forward to continued product updates.

Pros:

Saves you time if you're researching lots of startups.

Cons:

Not all early stage startups are on here.

Jeremiah Smith
Thanks for the feedback, duly noted!
Anastasia Popova
Hi! As a startup maker, can I add changes to our startup profile? P.S. I love the idea, good job guys.
Jeremiah Smith
@anastasia_vereschagina Yep, just scroll down and click on 'This is my company's profile'
Dre Durr💡
What is the difference between startup.io and Crunchbase? Incredible UX!! Very Dope🚬🚬
Jeremiah Smith
@dredurr Thanks man! Startup Tracker is a search engine which points people to the right destination (we call them specialist platforms). For example, we show Crunchbase links on startup profiles when we have them (big icons top left). If someone is interested in investment data for a company they click through from Startup Tracker to CB, if they're interested in something else, like jobs, they might click through to AngelList. etc. Data is the new oil, it's all about making it easy to find!
Beth Fiedler
Congrats! It's an Awesome tool 💯💯💯Whoo Hoo - Sooo happy to register mine very very soon. Thanks so much 🙏
Mathis André
Great tool ! For people who want track our product too.. https://www.producthunt.com/post...
Jeremiah Smith
@mathisandre Cheers! Faqbot is pretty cool btw.
Mathis André
@_jeremiahs thanks dude ! You can start a free trial for startup tracker it can be a very good use case for us both 😎
Grégoire Méker

I was glad to test that tool and will certainly keep using it over the next months. Finally a good way to find infos about startups and discover new apps in the blink of an eye.

Thank you guys for this great tool ;)

Pros:

Simple, clear and powerful. A lot of data is available.

Cons:

Also displays shut off startups without labelling them as closed.

Jeremiah Smith
Merci Grégoire! Yes tracking dead companies is a big challenge for everyone in our space. We have a few ideas on how this can be done. It's on the roadmap and got a +1 vote with this review. 🙏
Chris Traganos
I've had the privilege of using Startup Tracker in beta since it was a chrome plugin - I *LOVE* having it as a standalone web app! Here's the thing - there's plenty of databases and reference sites for startup and company info. Sometimes what you are looking for is found on Crunchbase, often LinkedIn pages, occasionally Quantcast website data, etc. With StartupTracker, it's all together and helping me sift through a _ton_ of companies. Personally, I've been using the Lists and Discover tools within Startup Tracker > With Lists, I keep collection of past companies I've worked at for quick reference: https://startuptracker.io/lists/... > With Discover, I finally have detailed filtering - example: Show me US companies that are subscription-based services (http://bit.ly/2i4NiQD) <-- would like discover/filter views to have automatic short links for sharing. Either way, I'm bullish on the concept and the execution is exactly what I was looking for. Great work team!
Jeremiah Smith
@ctraganos 🙏 Chris. The feedback is really helpful, I added a +1 for shortened links on the roadmap and we're working on linking to many more data sources 🤖.
Chris Traganos

Originally used the Chrome plugin, I find it really useful day in and day out. Looking forward to their new features they have planned!

Pros:

Wealth of data along with smart filtering to discover more about each company.

Cons:

Young product, some companies aren't in there yet.

Evans Ibok

I just installed the firefox extension to use for a week and hopely will get to keep it for longer.

Pros:

It enables get lightening speed information on startups I care about

Cons:

Most startups I care about aren't available yet.

Jeremiah Smith
Hi Evans, if you search for a startup and it's not available (do a full search by pressing enter or clicking on 'See more results') you can click on 'send us on a missing' to ask us to try and find info. Check it: https://startuptracker.io/startu...
Madhusudan Kagwad
@_jeremiah Great product and definitely useful for potential candidates to look up everything about the company
Drew Meyers
Will crunchbase or angellist/producthunt buy this? :)
Jeremiah Smith
@drewmeyers Please take this with a grain of salt as I'm inevitably biased here. Having built products in this space for 3 years I think the time of a 'know it all database' has passed. As the startup industry matures data is bound to be spread across different platforms and someone needs to link that data to help people find what they need <=> help startups reach their target audience. That's my definition of a search engine and that's why we're building Startup Tracker. Not sure how well the product would be able to fulfil its mission if it was owned by one of the platforms it links to.
Mihec Podlesek🚀
Hi @_jeremiahs congratulations on launching the project! But why wouldn't I use Crunchbase instead?
Jeremiah Smith
@mihec if you're interested in investor/investment data and focusing on North American and European companies then Crunchbase is definitely the way to go (I also recommend having a look at Mattermark and Pitchbook, you can use part of their product for free and they're solid too) We want to link to existing knowledge across different sources, sort of like what Google does for web pages but for startup platforms. Startup Tracker might be the first hop in your company search while the destination will be a specialist platform like Crunchbase depending on what you're looking for.
Mihec Podlesek🚀
@_jeremiahs Great! Thanks for the clarification. I will defo switch to your product now because of multiple data sources. Nice!
Noelle Bq

Can't wait to see what features you guys build next!

Pros:

It's a game-changer. Aggregates the most early stage companies - data you won't find in many paid platforms like Mattermark, Beauhurst etc

Cons:

There aren't many cons to well-sourced free data ;)

Crystal Zhu

will it apply for most apps

Pros:

nice tool

Cons:

having trouble in searching for a long time, hope this could help
