Stark empowers software teams to design, build, and test products with accessibility in mind from the start. Our suite of plugins and extensions provides everything—from tools to education—to make anything accessible. Think of us as your accessibility toolbox.
Hey folks! A few years back, when Michael Fouquet and I hacked together the first version of Stark—which we now call version Negative 500—we had no idea how far we would take this. And today, we’re announcing the biggest changes, improvements, and additions since we first launched Stark.
3x the tooling, new extensions. The updated Stark Suite covers 90% of the design-tool and desktop-browser market, including: Figma, Sketch, AdobeXD, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Google Chrome, and Brave. 🤩
Stark began as a side project. We were scratching our own itch as product makers to ensure we designed accessible products from the start. Since then, it's not only become a company but an industry-wide movement supported by a vibrant community of people from all over the world. And we’re connected by one shared mission: To make the world’s software accessible to everyone.
This starts and ends with giving teams the material and tools to do their best work and ensure this is accelerated.
What we need are integrated tools, better education, and streamlined semi- and fully automated workflows that meet software teams where they already work.
We’re so stoked for you to give it a spin.
As a digital products and UX lead at my org, I use Stark as a critical part of shifting accessibility left. Our growth in accessibility as an organization has been (as our accessible development coaches put it) “meteoric for the time we’ve been working on it.”
We launched the new Digital Color Experience in March and one of our improvements was an algorithmic text color token that checked the background color to the text colors. We extensively used the Stark Chrome extension. We were able to spot check this so easily in the browser without running a full scan of the page - sometimes single-issue workflow is best for the task or the person working!
I also use Stark on personal projects - self branding, community projects, and slides for speaking engagements!
@neprokin thanks for letting us know! Can you please email us at support@getstark.co ? You shouldn’t be getting that! I’ve already flagged this to the team so we’ll sort this out.
