A product that's been on PH for a while but seems lot more developers need to know about it to boost their output Check 1-pager here https://info.sourcegraph.com/hub...

I would like to extend a special thanks to the Sourcegraph team. My story is truly tragic...

In 2020, I set out to find a development team to bring my app idea to life. After months of research, I finally partnered with a company. However, after 18 months of waiting, they left me with a non-functional, incomplete codebase that lacked the features I had requested. I had spent nearly $7,000, only to be abandoned with a broken project.

By the end of 2022, I started searching for another team to restart my project. For months, I spoke with different developers, and by 2023, after yet another 15-month development process, we ended up with an unstable application. It was nowhere near what I had envisioned. Despite my efforts, the dozens of developers I worked with left me hanging, once again, without completing the project.

By late 2024, I gave up. My second attempt had cost me over $10,000, and I still didn’t have a fully functional version. I decided to quit… but deep inside, I still believed in my project and wanted to complete it.

Then, the rise of AI tools changed everything. No-code platforms and AI-powered assistants became invaluable guides for non-technical individuals like me. I started using AI tools like DeepSeek, ChatGPT, and Claude to educate myself on technical concepts. I learned how to use Android Studio, VS Code, Postman, MongoDB, and how to fix my broken code. Eventually, I managed to run my project on my local machine, but every screen was filled with issues...

That’s when I discovered Cody—an AI-powered coding assistant integrated into VS Code, developed by Sourcegraph. Cody has exceptional capabilities, and it has been helping me fix each screen of my broken project step by step. And it does all of this for just $9 a month. It writes code for me and educates me at the same time. In short, it’s like working with a senior engineer who teaches me while coding on my behalf.

This has saved me thousands of dollars in developer hiring costs, and—most importantly—I no longer have to deal with developers' attitudes or delays. I don’t have to wait weeks or months for a task to be completed.

In total, I have spent over $20,000 on this project, and I still don’t have a fully working version. The main reason for this is that developers either deliberately or unknowingly dragged out the process, wasting my time and exploiting my trust. I made a promise to myself: I will no longer work with developers. From now on, I will rely only on AI tools and Cody-like assistants.

These tools are a game changer for non-technical individuals and should continue to evolve. I am grateful to the Sourcegraph team, and I will continue to support their products.

Thank you!

@livelypencil wow thanks for sharing your story, please let us know if you have any feedback on how we can improve Cody for you!

@beyang Cody is truly talented and currently fulfilling all my requests perfectly. After resolving the issues in the app, I will release it and publish a detailed article about what I’ve done. Beginner developers and entrepreneurs in the no-code space should definitely get to know Sourcegraph’s services. I was looking for a VS Code extension to guide me, and Sourcegraph was one of ChatGPT’s suggestions — it turned out to be incredibly helpful. Issues I had been waiting months to solve were fixed within a few days. I don’t know how to code, but that’s not a problem — Cody handles it. You just need to express what you want clearly and inform Cody thoroughly.
