SoundMind is your personal guide to happiness and wellness through audio and visual music therapy. Backed by neuroscience and designed to reduce stress and anxiety attacks, calm your mind, focus your attention, and sleep better.
This looks wonderful! As a former mental health researcher working with military spouses and families I applaud you for creating this and know how important solutions and supports like this can be. I'll let my veteran husband know about it, as well. Best of luck!!
@angela_wheeler1 as a current Army Officer myself, I have been able to see the struggles that exist behind the uniform. One of the biggest motivators I had for starting SoundMind was watching one of my close friends in the service struggle from post-traumatic stress. This promoted my research in this space, where I spent time at USC trying to find solutions for helping reduce symptoms of auditory triggers and feelings of anxiety that come from service members. From there, we found that sound was the most powerful too. I was fortunate enough to work alongside @lucyschafer, who is now our CCO and also an Army Medical Services officer. Thank you for spreading the word and please reach out to me on any social @brianfemminella to chat more if there is anything team SoundMind can do! Appreciate this and forever grateful for your husbands service.
@angela_wheeler1 Thank you for your wonderful message! I am the daughter of two Army officers and just commissioned into the Army Reserves myself. It’s wonderful to see support from others in the military community. Please do let your husband know, and thank him for his service. We appreciate it greatly. The veteran community is one of the reasons we started SoundMind! Let us know any feedback, comments, or questions you have!
@rahul_nair93 thank you so much!We worked on building a unique design & an easy flow for all users to find their own “rhythm” through the app. Always looking to continue expanding simplicity!
I really appreciate SoundMind for everything they do. They truly have changed my life outlook on mental health and I couldn’t be more grateful for such an amazing app!
@allennlin Allen, that means a lot to the team! Let us know what your most valuable feature is, would love to be able to see what is the most helpful for you.
@allennlin Hearing that means a lot -- so grateful that SoundMind is able to play a small part in your life. Let us know what you think about SoundMind Premium!!
Exciting times ahead 👍! This is a very innovative idea. Best of luck 👍. What's up next? ❤️ If you need feedback on any specific item (e.g. landing page, design, functionality, etc.), feel free to get in touch on my Twitter or LinkedIn.
@naveed_rehman feedback is always welcome here anytime, I’ll be sure to reach out on twitter! Next up is our teams mission to bring this product to schools and youth organizations across the nation! On the product side, our web app is on our radar next 😇🚀
@huseyin_kara our goal is to bring people that moment where they can reset and relax through the day, in a moment of crisis, to sleep or just simply to reset!
@riddhi_dagli always trying to think of ways to push technology, which pushes us everyday, to its full potential! When we think of music, many times it can be the thing that draws our emotions out of us. We tried to emulate that feeling at SoundMind! Thanks a million 💫
Hey, congrats on the launch! Back-to-back mental health product launches🚀. Since it's yet to release for Android, I have subscribed to the waitlist. Good luck :)
I don't know why I was expecting soothing music when I visited your website, I also put my earphones on🙈
@vishal_godhwani coming to Android soon! I’ll be sure to message when it’s coming out. Also, you are right, our website should have a bit of a revamp. In fact, I have some news, we are about to launch our brand new website that gives you the ability to listen to some soothing music from our app and test our our visual beats.. directly from the website! It’s important we are always providing a bit of music. The mental health space is so important, and I’m happy we are able to play our part in helping others
@brianfemminella super! some soothing music and indication to the users of the website that something is playing in the background would be a great experience!
@vishal_godhwani it’s coming in the next couple of days! Couldn’t agree with your more. We have actually gotten a lot of user feedback on how they use SoundMind for focus in the background!
@vishal_godhwani the website is up and looking 😍 and here's a little secret... go to soundmind.app and the middle animation allows you to see and hear our visual beat clips--firsthand! Go check it out and play around to see what you can expect once we release for Android! 🎉
@johorodriguez Hey, the new website looks ❤️. Each section is very well designed. I also love how you want to connect with your users using drift. Just a suggestion, will that be a user interview call or an app demo? If you could share more about it on the website or drift, it would help.
I'm sorry I couldn't find the section you wrote about music, is it above feels like we've got 99 problems?
Really excited for this launch, I have been using soundmind for almost a year now since its initial launch last fall. I am excited to really dive into the new features and see what impact it has on my day to day. I'll often use soundmind to increase my productivity at work by tailoring the soundscapes to reduce my anxiety. I am thrilled by how far this app has come and excited to see how it keeps growing.
Congrats soundmind team!
@erin_scherfner You're a veteran SoundMinder! It's so great to hear your feedback and all the ways SoundMind has improved your day-to-day. What tip would you give to a new user?
@sergeychik it’s been overlooked for so long, still is. When we have been building SoundMind, our main goal has always been to improve accessibility and create conversations in this space!
@sergeychik Truly overlooked and underestimated, especially for me personally. Growing up in an Asian American community, I never really self-reflected on my thoughts mentally -- building SoundMind has allowed me to really build on top of that and great an accessible place for everyone of all backgrounds to personally invest in their own mental health, regardless of what their upbringing told them.
Excited to check this out! Do you have any clinicians on your board or team? I am a board-certified music therapist and would be interested if any music therapists vetted the soundscapes or had a hand in any of the process. If not, my DM's are open! Let's chat.
Not stoked on this definition: "The term “music therapy” describes the use of sounds to encourage relaxation, concentration, and serenity. Music therapy can be anything from falling asleep to piano melodies to listening to the sound of birds chirping – music therapy is as unique as you are." This is not really true clinically. While this stuff is therapeutic, music therapy is between a person and a music therapist...this is kinda like saying venting to your friends about work is talk therapy. Check out http://musictherapy.org for more
@samchristie Hey Sam, Thanks for your feedback! We really appreciate receiving constructive criticism like this, as it only helps us grow. As a matter of fact, we do have a few doctors and clinicians on our board of advisors and our board of directors, as well as an entire research team devoted to conducting the clinical study to validate our clinical efficacy, which is currently ongoing and supported by the IRB and NIH. Music has long been known to have therapeutic abilities to treat pain and stress and that's what SoundMind is based on: the healing power of music and sound, specifically for mental health issues like anxiety, stress, depression, and trauma.
@lucyschafer thanks for the reply! awesome that you have clinicians on the team of advisors. i strongly recommend (as a music therapist) swapping your definition of music therapy, or focusing away from calling it music therapy specifically and instead saying things like "music is proven to xyz, and using our app is therapeutic" or, calling it "music-assisted relaxation" or "self-paced therapeutic music". these things still are true and tell users it's very beneficial and therapeutic without actually being therapy, as "self-therapy" is really not a thing you know? you can email me if you want to chat more or collaborate at sam at createmusictherapy dot com. also it looks like this is veteran-owned or operated i think? so awesome, and i could see a military-specific vertical popping up for ya'll. i'm sure youre already aware of /looking into this.
