After 3 years of existence, half a million visits, and loads of feedback from our community, the existing Sound Shelter website was ready for the great afterparty in the sky. So this week, we launched a brand new version of Sound Shelter. As DJs and vinyl collectors ourselves, we know the time and effort that not only goes into finding new records, but also actually finding a store that sells the record you want. We have real-time connections with several of the best record stores in UK, EU and USA, so we can instantly tell you a store that has the vinyl in stock. We only work with record stores (rather than people just part-time selling from their home) so the delivery times, packaging and shipping costs will always be legit. We have around 115,000 vinyl releases in our database (all with audio clips). We originally set up Sound Shelter to make online record shopping slightly more pleasurable. At the time the issues were things like: - The records we were being shown just weren't what I was looking for. - The interface of the stores were mediocre at best (mobile friendly wasn't a thing). - Once we'd found a record, it was usually out of stock so we'd have to scan through tons of Google results to find a store that sold it. Hopefully Sound Shelter is going someway towards solving those points: - We mix human curation with machine learning to give completely unique recommendations for each user. - The site is designed to be as good on mobile as it is on desktop. - We have real-time connections with some of the best record stores around the globe so we can instantly tell you a store that has the record in stock.
