These prices are a bit outrageous considering what you're actually getting.
The maximum size fence (50 million square feet) for the maximum amount of time (3 months), in the default area is $4.4 million dollars?
Let me just get my credit card with the $5 million dollar credit limit…
Much cheaper in less inhabited regions but it's still expensive and it's just a static graphic in an app with zero targeting beyond geolocation.
Obviously this isn't intended for people launching big campaigns for months, but 50 million sq ft isn't even that big.
@vincentorleck Good point. Fixed it.
Anyway, Manhattan is 636 million sq ft, San Francisco is 1.3 billion. For that kind of money I should think I should be able to get a digital geofilter (that practically costs Snap nothing to upload by itself) that covers a lot more than just Golden Gate Park (44 million sq ft) or Central Park (36 million sq ft) for a few months.
Just doing tomorrow for one day covering all of Central Park is almost $13,000 (it's significantly less if you do that but not at the last minute – $753, but that's still a lot). Doing June 1 – August 24 for Central Park: $534,487.54.
Sure I get it if it's some kind of advertising platform, but this isn't what it's being marketed to… At least put some reasonable caps on the prices one can theoretically incur on the platform. Or if someone makes a selection of a large area / for a long time, have an option to get a more personalized experience.
And note that you can't really try and save money by making your fence as small as possible because location services on mobile devices aren't that accurate most of the time. Most people won't have to make something as big as 50 million sq ft, but using a reasonable radius around your venue makes it a lot more expensive.
@shimmb if you're doing a filter for that large of an area, you'd work directly with Snap, in which case it's between $400k - $600k max for a national geofilter.
this DIY system is meant for small events that they wouldn't waste their time managing directly.
@thejeremycarson Right, I mentioned that… My criticism is that this interface actually lets you go to the checkout screen with these huge sums of money without any kind of indication that there are other options.
