Would you try an Obsidian alternative that is easier to start with?
Obsidian is one of the most powerful note taking tools out there. But for a lot of people the onboarding feels overwhelming. You open it for the first time and it is just a blank vault. You need to figure out folders, plugins, themes, and workflows before you can really get going.
Notion is easier to start but it is slow, cloud only, and can feel bloated.
I am exploring an idea for an Obsidian alternative that keeps the things people love like local first storage, markdown under the hood, and the ability to grow into something powerful. But it would start with:
Simple Mode with a ready to use workspace, pre made templates, tasks, calendar, and daily notes
Advanced Mode with optional backlinks, graph view, plugins, and custom queries
Rich text editing with markdown hidden unless you want to see it
Export at any time so you always own your notes
The goal is to have the same long term power but with an onboarding experience that lets you be productive in the first 5 minutes instead of the first few weeks.
Would this solve a real pain point for you, or do you think Obsidian is already good enough?
