Startup Thesis - Cursor for X

Since Cursor has grown in revenue and piqued everyone's curiosity, it has become quite a thesis for AI startups. The thesis itself is an evolution of earlier one - wrapper startups. Perplexity is a famous example of that.

How do you think Software industry will evolve around this thesis - deep AI wrappers or Agentic AI softwares. What are some common usecases that fit into this thesis naturally? Why do these startups fundamentally scale so fast?
Primarily looking to hear from builders as their opinions will be more grounded...

The main reason for their fast growth, in my opinion, is quick adoption by enterprises.

There are a few reasons that helped with that:

  1. Focus on user experience for a very specific problem that is costly to solve

  2. Easy onboarding and first experience (time-to-wow)

  3. Strong marketing: they all made a lot of noise, and in all sorts of different ways

The speed of growth meant that players like OpenAI (in the case of Cursor/Lovable) or Google (in the case of OpenAI) did not have the time to react.

In hindsight coding usecases seem obvious for llms. Before coding Jasper AI like companies boasted similar growth. What are some other categories of usecases which could exhibit similar growth behaviour in your opinion? I think law could be next, if not already.
