Seeking Feedback: What if your Instagram Reels were as searchable as Google?

Hi everyone,

I've built a very early-stage MVP (NoteMyReel) that lets you save Instagram Reels into searchable notes with tags. The goal is to help you organize, revisit, and search your favorite Reels more easily-whether for inspiration, learning, work, or just fun.

How it works?

  • Copy & paste an Instagram Reel link. That's all.

NoteMyReel AI will auto populate the note with reel summary & tags. Now you can go back anytime to search and filter your saved Reels by keywords or tags.

Congratulations but I have two or more like three cents. Remove the copy and paste function and just build it into the share feature and then import it into your app. I hope it’s AI tag generated to save time. It would be awesome to summarize every video with AI transcribed notes and then make it searchable for deeper impact. What’s the monetisation strategy here though? Instagram can build it in under a minute.

Yes, building it into the Instagram share feature is at the top of my list for improvements. This is an MVP I built in 4-5 hrs.

Yes, the tags & the summary is AI generated.


For monetization, have a few ideas,

  1. Freemium Model - Free Tier: Save X Reels/month, basic search, limited tags, Paid Tier: Unlimited Reels, custom tags, advanced search (e.g., by creator name, topic clusters).

  2. Personal Knowledge Base for Creators/influencers/marketers who need to manage tons of content ideas. Organize Reels by projects/campaigns. Export to other tools like Notion/Obsidian/Keep etc.

  3. Premium AI Features - Auto-categorization (ex: fitness, recipes, tutorials), smart highlights or key action items extraction, etc.

Instagram could build this in a minute yes, but note taking/extracting useful information is not their core focus. Keeping people doom scrolling on Reels so that they can show more ads is. Moreover, they already had Notes on stories etc., which they rolled back. So, I think the risk of this is pretty low.
