I Built Coupyn Alone - 100,000+ Companies, Real Users, Zero Funding

Seventeen months ago, Coupyn was nothing but an idea scribbled in my head. Today, it’s a living, breathing platform with over 100,000 companies listed, real users joining daily, and a foundation strong enough to support millions more.

  • I didn’t have investors.

  • I didn’t have a team.

  • I didn’t even have a “startup budget.”

What I had was a computer, a text editor, and a stubborn belief that one person could build something lasting.

Why I Started Coupyn

I’ve always been fascinated by the way people share and discover deals. From referral codes to gift vouchers to coupons, there’s a universal desire to save money and an equally strong desire to share opportunities.

But I noticed something most platforms in this space felt outdated. They were either cluttered with ads, slow to use, or didn’t focus on what users actually wanted a simple, clean place to share and discover deals.

So, I set out to build exactly that. A platform by the people, for the people.

Building Alone

  • When I say I built Coupyn alone, I mean everything.

  • The frontend in Angular 19.

  • The backend in Node.js with Express.

  • The database in MongoDB.

  • The hosting and deployment.

  • The SEO, sitemaps, and indexing strategies.

  • The design choices keeping everything modern, responsive, and minimal.

No shortcuts. No templates. No outsourcing. Just me writing over 90,000 lines of code while living on oats, water, and the kind of stubbornness only obsession can fuel. It wasn’t glamorous. There were nights I didn’t sleep, days I forgot to eat, and weeks where all I did was code, test, and refine. But slowly, Coupyn went from concept → prototype → real platform.

What Makes Coupyn Different

Coupyn isn’t just another coupon site. Here’s why:

100,000+ Companies (and counting).
From global brands to niche shops, Coupyn is becoming a hub for every kind of deal.

Unique Subscription Model.
Unlike traditional coupon sites that rely solely on ads, Coupyn runs on a clean, optional subscription base. Members can upgrade for more visibility and automated listing boosts something no other coupon website offers.

From global brands to niche shops, Coupyn is becoming a hub for every kind of deal. User-driven. Members list their own offers referral codes, coupons, vouchers and track performance with stats. Fair exposure. Listings can rise in visibility through votes, memberships, or promotion, giving everyone a shot at reach. Transparency. No clutter, no gimmicks, no tricks. Just a clean space where people can share, save, and discover. Open access. Even anonymous visitors can browse and find deals without needing an account, making Coupyn instantly useful to anyone.

Loneliness. Building alone means no one claps for the small wins. You have to fuel yourself with the belief that it matters. But here’s the truth the hardest parts are also what make this meaningful. Every line of code, every feature, every member who signs up it all carries weight because nothing was handed over.

What’s Next

Coupyn is still young. We’ve crossed milestones over 1,000 users, 100,000+ companies listed, and steady daily sign-ups but the journey is just starting.

The vision is simple

Keep scaling until millions of companies and deals are live.

Grow the community into a global hub for savings and sharing.

Continue to prove that even without funding, a single person with focus and grit can build something that lasts.

Launch a browser extension that can automatically apply Coupyn deals at checkout, making savings effortless.

Develop a mobile app so users can share and discover offers on the go, anytime and anywhere.

Why I’m Sharing This

Producthunt is full of startup stories that start with funding rounds, co-founders, or Silicon Valley offices. That’s not my story.

My story is smaller, quieter, maybe less polished. But it’s real. Coupyn was built from a small room with no money, no hype, and no safety net. And yet, it’s here alive, growing, and serving people every day.

If there’s one thing I want you to take away, it’s this you don’t need permission to build. You just need to start, and then keep going long after most people would have quit. You can check it out here coupyn.com It’s not perfect, but it’s real. And it’s only getting bigger.
