I'm Nikin, one of the creators of MentionedBy.ai — a tool we built to help founders and marketers see how their brand shows up inside AI-generated answers across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and other LLMs.

🚀 Why we built it:

It started from our own frustration. We noticed that our startup wasn’t showing up in ChatGPT results — even for queries we were clearly relevant for. Meanwhile, bigger, SEO-heavy brands kept showing up, even if they were outdated or irrelevant.

That's when we realized:

It’s no longer about Google rankings — it’s about model completions.

So we asked: How do you track and improve your brand’s visibility inside these AI black boxes?

🔍 What MentionedBy AI does:

Tracks how often and how positively your brand is mentioned across top AI models

Compares you with competitors on visibility, sentiment, and hallucination risk

Flags sudden drops (e.g., if Claude stops mentioning you overnight)

Sends real-time alerts when you’re misrepresented or omitted

Gives you an “AI visibility score” across platforms (we call it AEO: Answer Engine Optimization)

🛠️ Under the hood:

We query models via OpenRouter & native APIs on a schedule

Analyze responses with OpenAI + Cohere embeddings

Use semantic matching to catch fuzzy brand mentions

Detect hallucinations by cross-referencing source links and factual grounding

Log all prompts, answers, and versions into a time-series DB to spot anomalies over time

Built with a minimal UI (Bootstrap + WordPress for CMS), PHP for sessions, Python for all the ML & orchestration

🧠 Why it matters:

AI is already shaping perception quietly. If your brand isn't in the model, it doesn’t exist to the user. We’ve seen:

Startups completely missing from model responses

Founders misquoted

Obsolete competitors showing up as “best options”

So we made this public.
