It's neat because it’s basically the holodeck

Sandbox is the closest thing to the holodeck from Star Trek that exists. Sandbox 2.0 elevates every aspect of the experience for our guests - from upgraded hardware, new experiences (esports, Star Trek), to brand new retail technology and design.

It's really amazing what Siqi, Steve, and the team at Sandbox have built. If anyone in the Product Hunt community happens to live in San Francisco, I highly recommend you try out the new location on Market Street.

@nivo0o0 was planning to go there with a friend and we were both going to bring a friend each. Who wants to join us Saturday? 🙂

Super excited for the new releases, @blader. We had been talking about going for the last few weeks — just booked our first Sandbox VR experience with @danielkbishop in SF on Saturday afternoon. Who wants to join us?

The experience is already unmatched and it's just the beginning. Can't wait to see how this continues to evolve and delight people young & old. This is going to be core to the 21st century amusement park.

The Star Trek experience was truly amazing, and not just because I am a trekkie. Being able to hang out with my friends and be transported to a totally different place all together was one of the funnest things I've ever done, and I know I'll be back!

Are you guys planning to stream or participate in esports? I would love to be able to challenge my cousins in NYC while I'm in SF, watch two famous gamers duke it out in UFL, or watch a single person time-trial or score perfect in Deadwood Mansion (I think it's impossible).

You know how they say, "The Future is Already Here, it's just not evenly distributed?" Well, there are 8 locations where you can live in the future today. I took my kids to SF over the weekend to fight off Aliens in HK 2088. They had a blast! Literally! It was an amazing experience and even my wife (who's not a 'Gamer') had a great time. The kids want to go back and fight in UFL, which is much better than fighting IRL. Amazing job @blader and Team!

Remember that feeling when you went to Disneyland or Universal Studios for the first time? You really wanted to see dinosaurs, feel like you were going back in time, or just get excited with your friends to interact with imaginary characters. Well, it's here albeit with a Street-Fighter-like game, Star Trek, Zombies, and Pirates. I have played all the experiences and I was most impressed with the new UFL game - it's honestly unlike anything I've ever done. You're taking on a real physical opponent in digital space, but it's not dangerous and yet at the same time gets your adrenaline pumping as if you stepped into a boxing ring. And yes... your well-honed PC/console gaming skills translate really well to performance in these games! Unlike their flagship format of Deadwood Mansion (which I love), you really see how different formats of games occur in Sandbox and I'm very excited to see what else starts to appear.

had the opportunity to play deadwood mansion with 4 other zombie blaster friends: * this is going to replace arcades/amusement parks * this is 1000x more fun than an escape room * i can see competitive gaming built on top of this platform amazing job @blader and team!

It's the new amusement park. Everyone I went with loved it; truly remarkable execution. It really helped me understand what VR can be.

How long until the tech advances to the point where we don't need to strap markers to our body and wear a backpack? It'd be great if you handed me something like a Quest, good headphones, and a gun, and that was the prep.

Yes, it's really that good—do yourself a favor and book time with a couple of friends. It's the best VR experience to date.

I'm definitely a superfan of Sandbox. I've been to the San Mateo location a bunch of times and can't wait to check out the SF one. For me, while I've tried all of the current and recent VR platforms, this was the first experience where I didn't focus on the limitations of the hardware and felt truly immersed. I think this is due to a combination of the custom VR software and hardware, the fact that it's a social experience with your friends, and the compelling games that keep you entertained and engaged throughout the experience. If you haven't tried it, go out now and do it.

This is the real deal. I can't wait for you guys to open a location in New York so I can go more often :)

The new Market Street location sets the standard for a VR experience. Took my kids and they immediately wanted to go back. Great for families, friends, or corporate teams.

Bad ass experience. The content is extremely well done and the little flourishes/surprised really round out the experience. And loved the friendly staff and trailer video we got at the end!

I got a chance to visit the new downtown SF location and play Star Trek Discovery on Tuesday with a group. I'm super impressed at the amount of custom integrated tech at work here. I can't wait to get a chance to try the other experiences, it seems this platform has unlimited potential - truly the "holodeck" vision. Thanks to @bryanjowers for hosting us!

So pleased that you guys are back! From strength to strength :-) will have to swing by when next in SF

SandboxVR is the truest VR experience out there; it just works. The SF location is especially sleek and really makes you feel like you are transported to another place. The Star Trek experience was very pretty, though I regret not checking out UFL when I went - next time!

Sandbox VR is something you have to try. We went with a few friends and the experience was amazing. Highly recommend!

Truly amazing experience! By the end of the game I was really starting to feel immersed in the virtual world while shooting some aliens. I think this can mark the beginning of a new era of entertainment, where mixed reality full-body immersion becomes the norm. Congrats for the great concept and execution, Siqi and team!
