Roundup — Start a discussion forum for your team

The good people of Producthunt ❤️ I'm Manas, the Founder of Roundup 👋 Before I talk about what we have built, I want to take a moment to first thank @kevin for believing in us and hunting us .✌️ I also want to give a shout-out to my amazing team (@sushant_rahul, @richa_garg, @jitesh_kriplani1) for working tirelessly to make Roundup possible. You guys are awesome. 🙌 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Why did we start Roundup? After spending many years building products & scaling teams, I realised that we often spend an annoying amount of time doing discussions synchronously. It not only causes stress & burnout in the team but also reduce their overall throughput. Think about it, every time we call a meeting or ping someone on slack — we are effectively asking them to take a break from what they were doing. According to many reports, each distraction leads to a loss of 23 minutes before you can get back to your deep-work state But is every discussion time-sensitive and requires interrupting others? No, right? That's why we created an Asynchronous Communication tool where Discussions can happen in a written & meaningful manner without causing distractions. 💪 If I have to oversimplify our solution, then "Roundup is like Reddit for your Company ✌️". ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ How does Roundup work? 📖 You can create a discussion forum for a specific project, team, or any other group you want to bring together. ✍️ When you have something to discuss, share, or ask, you can create a new post on the relevant discussion forum. 👯‍♂️ All members who are following this forum will be able to see your post on their newsfeed. 💬 Anyone can participate in the discussion by leaving replies. They can also upvote posts that they find helpful. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Benefits of Roundup 📚 Discussions get documented in well-organised threads and don't get buried under casual chit-chat. Roundup provides a unique link for each conversation, which can be useful for reference or review later on. Discussions also have a clear title and can be tagged to their relevant context. Which makes it easily filter them out to find what you are looking for. ⏱ Discussions happen asynchronously and don't cause interruptions and distractions. You can come in at your own convenient time and contribute to ongoing discussions. This can lead to more thought-out and well-reasoned responses, as compared to real-time communication methods where responses are expected to be immediate. 😌 Discussions are threaded and easy to follow Roundup makes it easy for all participants to follow the ongoing conversation and build upon the ideas that have already been shared. 👫 Discussions are done in public, which benefits everyone on the team. Next time when someone asks you the same question, you can point them to the earlier discussion. Unlike DMs and ad-hoc catchups where conversations get easily lost. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ We believe that stress & burnout is a growing problem in our modern workplace and poor communication habits have a lot to do with it. That's why we have spent many nights and weekends building Roundup. It is our belief that it will help you create a more relaxed and productive work culture. Great onboarding. It was super fast. 🚀 I would remove the mandatory job title. 💁‍♂️ When I am on the platform, I would like a quick automatic product tour of where is what; for example, you talk about a knowledge database, but I don't see that.🙏 If you upload a GIF, why do you need to add text? 🤷‍♂️ Cool platform, but I don't understand its added value at the moment.

Congrats on the launch @manas_sharma and team! It's good to see new tools in async communication space. - Loved the onboarding. - The UX is simplistic. - However, I would like to see more features related to the feed/posting like more editor options, searchable posts to make it more useful.

I have not got enough time to test and confirm the usability, but reading the product note and website it looks an exciting product. i will certainly return back after checking out the product

"Asynchronous communication" is an advanced teamwork method, and it is expected that this management method will be widely accepted. Good luck for your team!

Asynchronous communication seems to be an interesting idea to fight distractions and problems with a lack of focus among the employees, so I wish you all the best!

That's a great idea and, as most of the teams nowadays are being distributed, it becomes a sheer necessity to have tools like Roundup - all the best guys, loving what you're doing!

Good luck with the launch. I like this product as currently we have different threads on slack, teams and outlook - this is a good way to avoid thoughts getting lost. Have only looked at your extensive documentation and videos so far but we will be trying this out.

Hey, this looks awesome! Congrats on the launch! I am wondering if you guys are planning to add API services. I am looking for solutions to quickly integrate a discussion feature for a community-based product.

Seems like a handy tool for teams who needs to put out productive work. And one KPI that is directly proportional to growth is transparency, which I am able to see here. Kudos to the whole team on launch

@manas_sharma Having Product Hunt style upvotes and Github style discussions seem like useful features to have in a team communication platform. Congrats on the launch!

Very cool. Context switching is costly, not just in terms of time. It causes developer fatigue and burnout as well.

First of all, I like the idea especially nowadays when time spent in meetings is a hot topic. In terms of the app itself, I think it has some usability problems right now. For example, sometimes it is a little slower than expected or throws some unexpected errors, but that is to be expected in a new product I think. All in all, I think this could be a great app for open collaboration but the important thing is that you take these first days of heavy usage to improve on it and polish the product. Nice idea, good luck for the future.

Congrats @manas_sharma on your launch. This looks interesting. The past couple of lockdown/remote work years have shown us that asynchronous clear communication/discussions are critical and all the old tools don't fit for all teams/use cases.

Looks like a really useful app, will definitely try it in the upcoming days and give a review on how this has helped.
