Really cool concept! I know a lot of folks feel the string between using a task management tool and something like Slack, and i love how this brings everything together in one place. I also think the per space pricing model is really interesting, because it will allow you to scale as you add more users to your team. Does the space have permission controls? I see that you can have managers, but can you have observers in the space as well as editors?
Kenzo Fong
Thanks @britt_joiner! We currently have different roles for each space (managers, members, and guests) with different permissions. Also working on a more granular way of assigning permissions and customizing these per workspace. Try it out and let us know what you think!
Brittany Joiner {Britt the Builder}
@kenzofong awesome! I know that's a big request in Trello as well. This is really cool! Congrats on the launch!
Kenzo Fong
@britt_joiner thanks so much!

Hey everyone šŸ‘‹ I'm Kenzo, Founder & CEO of Rock, a collaboration platform made for how we work today. Now used by thousands of users in over 172 countries, we have made hundreds of improvements and changes over the past year that I'm excited to share with the Product Hunt community today. šŸ¢ Collaboration is a mess Collaboration tools like Slack, Trello, and Asana were built for a world where everyone worked in the same physical location and timezone. These products have been optimized for real-time and continuous communication, which leads to too much noise, loss of productivity, and the pressure to be online all the time. Today over 70% of startups are remote first and teams are more fluid than ever before. A typical project now includes freelancers, agencies, or is done as part of an open source community or decentralized DAOs. All of this requires not just a different way of working, but also a completely new productivity stack built for how we work today. šŸ¤˜ Bring order to chaos with Rock We are bringing sanity back to the way we work by solving the following problems:
  • Constant switching between different apps ā†’ Rock brings messaging plus tasks and all your favorite apps together in one space.
  • It's too much hassle to start working together ā†’ Instantly work with anyone with your own space.new link.
  • Collaboration tools are too expensive ā†’ Rock has no limits on the free plan. Radically accessible pay-per-space pricing on the paid plans.
  • šŸŽø Messaging and tasks together at last Messaging and tasks are at the core of what builders and makers need to get work done, so we've made them available in the same space. As teams use lots of other services we've made it possible to connect everything from Figma to Notion, Google Docs, and lots more so you can reference them within Rock. Rock is also multi-modal so you can pick and choose how you want to communicate. šŸ“§ Stop settling for email You need to jump through so many hoops to set up a shared tool stack to work together, so in the end you just settle for the lowest common denominator (email, spreadsheets, fax machines :). With Rock, you can now share your personal space.new link or QR code to set up a group space with someone else within seconds. Want to try this out? Come say hi to me at https://space.new/kenzo šŸŒ Radically more accessible and affordable Most tools have limited free plans and then charge a lot of money every month if you want to do just a little more. Rock comes with unlimited messages, tasks, people, and spaces for free, and we have pay-per-space pricing for power users. On Rock you do not pay per user instead you sign up for a paid plan and pay the same low price every month. šŸŽø Stop slacking, start rocking Already using other tools? No problem as you can easily import from Slack, WhatsApp, Trello, Asana, Jira, and ClickUp and get your team up and running within minutes. Rock is available on Mac, Windows, Linux, Android, iOS, and web. ā¤ļø People love us Thousands of people and hundreds of teams already love Rock. Don't believe us? Check out the 1000+ reviews and the 4.8 ā rating for our mobile apps or read how Rock is being used by software developers, freelancers, and creative agencies. āœ… Ready to rock? To celebrate this milestone we are running a special promo just for the Product Hunt community, which gives new users 3 months for free on our paid plans. With the PRO and TEAMS plan, you get PRO spaces, custom space.new links, larger workspaces, pinboards, and so much more! šŸŽµ Already a Rock user? Nico Spijker
Hi everyone, Nico from Rock here! Super excited to see Rock live on Product Hunt today. This could not have been possible without the support of @kenzofong @wandile_mamba @burhanrashid52 @kacper_n @iqbalperkasa @tomasz_grzybowski @izabela_szotek and many other team members, users, partners, mentors & advisors, and others! šŸ™ I wanted to take this opportunity to do a shout-out to everybody building a community or anyone who is passionate about building communities.šŸ‘€ We've spoken with tons of community managers and members of open source projects, DAOs, and other projects to learn more about your day-to-day struggles: 1) Slack, Discord, and other messaging tools make communicating a lot easier, but can quickly become chaotic with no project management functionality. 2) It can be tricky to get everyone together and collaborating often requires hacky solutions or outdated systems. 3) Pricing can often be an issue as well as most tools require either expensive plans or put limitations on the free plan resulting in you losing messages/work. We think Rock can help, so let's connect if you're currently managing a community or thinking of creating one! šŸ™Œ In return, we'll make it worth your while with resources and rewards to make managing & growing your community easier. šŸš€ If this sounds interesting, let's connect on Rock: https://space.new/nicolaas Cheers and see you all around, Nico

Congrats on the launch. What's the biggest differentiator between Rock and Slack? I don' think Slack or Trello isn't build for remote teams at all. Even if they're not designed for it, they still work perfectly so far. So why should I switch my behaviour for Rock?
    Kenzo Fong
Thanks @ho_desmond! The biggest difference between Slack and Rock is that Slack is just messaging, while Rock has messaging and tasks at it's core. Most teams need a combination of both to actually get work done and with Rock you can now do this in one space. We've also been very thoughtful about how we integrate with Notion, Figma, Google Drive, and other apps and make these available in Rock with an actual front-end versus bots/notifications which are not as easy to use. In addition to all of this, we allow people to pick different ways of communicating and switch to a more async way of working. If you have something urgent, you can send a chat message. If you need to discuss something face-to-face, you can start a Zoom or Google Meet call. For everything else we make it easier to do this in a more organized way with comments and topics. This is especially useful for remote teams, as you now don't need to be online all the time as most discussions and decisions are documented so you can catch up when works for you.
    Lino
Great idea, looks close to acapela but with more collaboration capabilities. How well does it integrate into said apps? Can you import and react on comments within your Rock chats? And can you jump right into the different place in connected tools, such as a figma design or a notion page?
    Kenzo Fong
Thanks @fantivecreations! We have different ways that we integrate with different services. For most cloud editors / storage, you can link boards or folders to a space which allows you to browse the different objects through the Files mini-app and attach these to specific tasks making things like design reviews a lot easier. We also have importers for Slack, Trello, Asana, Jira, ClickUp, and WhatsApp allowing you to import whatever these tools allow you to export. Finally, we also integrate with video services like Zoom, Google Meet, Jitsi for sync video calls and Loom for async videos!
    Kenzo Fong
@fantivecreations happy to chat more! You know where to find me :)
    Eraldo Forgoli
@kenzofong congrats on the launch. I really appreciate what you are trying to achieve with Rock, considering the competition and the hardships you have to face. Keep up the good work šŸ™Œ
    Kenzo Fong
@eraldo_forgoli luckily we have very vocal users who tell us that they love Rock! :) Appreciate the support and would love get beta access to OneCal!

Congrats on the launch guys! Great tool to boost productivity and provide a more organized working environment, loved it!
    Kenzo Fong
@cem_bulut that's what we love to hear! Rock on!
    Julia Putzeys
Congratulations on the launch! We've been looking for a tool like this to manage our marketing and social tasks among a team that is fully remote, and many members are part time. Excited to try it out!
    Kenzo Fong
Thanks @julia_putzeys! Curious to hear what you think once you've tried Rock out and if there is anything we can help out with feel free to reach out: https://space.new/hello
    Hugh Lagrotteria
I think you've done a great job of identifying some short comings of Slack, Trello, etc.. and optimized Rock to solve for those issues. Specifically, your angle about them being optimized for real-time, continuous communication... so true! Congrats on the launch today @kenzofong and team. Beautiful product šŸ‘šŸš€šŸ’Æ
    Nico Spijker
@kenzofong @hugh_lagrotteria Thank you so much Hugh! Indeed we're really looking to bring down barriers that are so common with alternatives on the market. Hopefully we can work on making seamless collaboration an industry standard! šŸš€
    Jon Tristan Alsup
I love rock! We switched our team to it a few months back and has been great. Leaving slack and trelllo in the dust.
    Nico Spijker
@jonalsup Thrilled to have you on Rock with us Jon! šŸŽ‰
    Kenzo Fong
Thanks for the support @jonalsup! We working on some of the other features you suggested :)
    Rohan Rashinkar
Great product, congrats on the launch. I can totally relate to this problem. Collaboration is a mess, and it's true that slack actually doesn't work for different timezones.
    Kenzo Fong
Thanks @rohanrashinkar! Couldn't agree more... what is most frustrating to you about using Slack across timezones?
    Rohan Rashinkar
@kenzofong It is not easy to stay in sync with people of different time zones, and there is always a pressure to stay online like you mentioned, otherwise the team will think that you are not working.
    Kenzo Fong
    @rohanrashinkar isn't that the worst? šŸ¤Ø
    Grey G. Seymour
Huge fan of Rock here, have followed Enzo's & team's journey since well before even the beta launch. Great to see this getting the recommendation it deserves - such an improvement over a Slack or Teams, IMO. Great job @kenzofong ! PS - hit me back in Rock sometime! ;)
    Kenzo Fong
Thanks @graham_seymour and appreciate the kind words. Let's definitely connect on Rock @ space.new/kenzo :)

    Hiro - Atsuhiro Teshima
@kenzofong Congrats on the launch! I was invited by Nico and tried Rock for a while. Love the concept of combining tasks and messaging together. One of the biggest issues of slack is everything is stacked next to next and I need to deal with tasks right away or gradually forget about them.
    Kenzo Fong
Thanks @atsuhiro_teshima! Great to hear that you love Rock. What you describe is one of the things we've paid a lot of attention to to make it easier to keep your own work organized with things like Set Aside and My Tasks. Is there anything we can improve?
    Abid Unnisa
Is this something similar to clickup? Or an alternative for teams?
    Kenzo Fong
Hi @abid_unnisa, we're more messaging focused than ClickUp and we've heard from users who switched that they really like the more intuitive user experience on Rock. As for Teams, we work nicely not just with Microsoft services but also with Google, Dropbox, Figma, and a bunch of others.
    Kenzo Fong
@abid_unnisa now is a good a time as any :) and if you ever need help just send us a message through https://space.new/hello! What are your main issues with ClickUp?
    Frankie Zhang
Our team uses Jira to handle project; so far everything works well except one thingā€”you can't just communicate with people on it, and it's frustrating when you're handling multiple tasks at the same time. We're actually looking for new tools to replace Jira, and I think Rock can be a good fit. Will share it with the team to see if we can give it a try.
    Kenzo Fong
Thanks @frankie_zhang. Depending on what you need I think Jira can also get overtly complex. While you're looking at things let us know if you have any questions at https://space.new/hello
    Abhishek Singh
This looks great and solves a couple of problem that I had with the existing tools. Will give this a try
    Kacper Neuman
Hey Product Hunt community! šŸ‘‹ Super thrilled to be part of the launch today! From software developers like Metio Software to creative agencies like New Aesthetics, we have a ton of teams that are excited about Rock - check out their stories below. I work on a daily basis with people that want to help us spread the word and with that in mind I wanted to tap into the Product Hunt brain trust. Rob Mark
Congrats on the launch @kenzofong, just wondering, you mentioned hundreds of improvements over the last year, any in particular that you recommend we check out or that you are most proud of?
    Kenzo Fong
Thanks @rob_mark! Last time we were on Product Hunt we had the foundation of Rock already (messaging + tasks), but we really spent a lot of time building out features that make it easier to start working with others (e.g. Quick Connect, Workspaces) and power users features that are now in the paid plans. More details with a full list of improvements is here: https://rock.so/blog/rock-is-bui...
    Rob Mark
@kenzofong Thanks Kenzo, the blog is helpful. The quick connect and workspace feature is really awesome!
