Great work @tim_qin and team @Roame ( @garrytan @zliuilz ) on building such an amazing product! As a pro credit card rewards enthusiast, I’ve followed your journey from the early days, and it’s inspiring to see how far you’ve come. I’ve also explored options like seats.aero and even tried building my own MVPs, but I was turned off by the anti-scraping measures from major airlines.
Here’s some feedback based on my extensive market research in 2023, private beta tests of MVPs that I ran with high-spenders (entrepreneurs, tech-savvy users, and sales/marketing professionals), and on-going hobbyist effort to educate my friends/network.
Finding flights on points can be a complicated and overwhelming process. While your tool simplifies the search and provides valuable insights on where to find points, there’s an opportunity to further enhance the user experience. Adding intuitive nudges or guidance on how to earn and redeem points more effectively could significantly improve usability.
This process is inherently complex, involving the intricacies of rewards programs, airline partnerships, alliances, and multi-tiered award pricing. For example, a flight found on American Airlines at an ideal award value can often be booked for similar or fewer points through alliance partners like Qatar Airways, Qantas, or Cathay Pacific, with varying taxes. During my own research, I noticed that Roame recommended transferring points to Marriott and then to American Airlines (3:1) for a specific SFO-AUS flight. However, a better alternative could have been booking the same flight via Qatar Airways for fewer points.
Similarly, the same or better direct flights might be available on Alaska Airlines without needing a Bilt card. For instance, transferring points from Amex to Hawaiian and then to Alaska could yield a more efficient booking path.
This isn’t a critique but rather a recommendation to explore ways to make the system less “vanilla” and more user-centric, incorporating key hacks to maximize reward value (e.g., achieving 2-10 cents per point). Adding infographic-based pathways, tooltips, or visual nudges could help educate customers on maximizing redemption value and navigating the complexities of rewards programs.
What you’ve built is incredible, and with these additional layers of guidance and education, it could provide even greater value to users.
Another key finding from my research is that while redemption is a major pain point (and you’ve done an impressive job tackling it), the process of earning points effectively is often overlooked. Many users fail to realize the value they lose by not optimizing their spending to earn points on every dollar. This often comes down to a lack of understanding of the process.
Consider building a simple, intuitive feature—perhaps as part of the app or a lead magnet—that helps users create a tailored pathway based on their current and evolving spending habits, while keeping the number of cards manageable (e.g., 2-3).
For example, a combination like Amex Gold (4x on groceries/restaurants), Chase Sapphire Preferred, and Capital One Venture works well for many. Over time, users could replace Chase Sapphire and Capital One with more targeted cards offering better rewards in specific categories.
Providing end-to-end pathway education—showing users how their spending patterns might change over 1-2 years, recommending the optimal number of cards for their needs, and demonstrating how to transfer points effectively (e.g., for trips, vacations, or cashback)—would help maximize ROI in a way that feels simple and achievable. This type of holistic system could significantly enhance user engagement and satisfaction.

Oh nice, congrats on the launch! Have a bunch of trips coming up and plan to use this. I've tried so many times to get into the ways to best use my points but it's so intimidating. This solves a big problem for me.
I love Roame! Their email alerts about points deals are always fantastic to read, and their platform works way better than any other services on the market today.

I really loved this Roame product with so many new impressive features like real-time search, Super Alerts & SkyView etc. This product enables me to easily use my points but save my time & money to enjoy my dream travels more❤️😄👍
Roame.travel is great for booking flights on points. It’s so much easier to use than other sites—everything is straightforward, and you can actually find what you’re looking for without all the hassle. I’ve found flights way faster here than anywhere else and I can search for so many dates and options which makes it easier to plan trips!
