rnbw 🌈 is a modern design and code editor πŸ’» . it makes your html, css, js files designable. when the code changes, the design changes. when the design changes, the code changes. and, that's it!

Exciting launch congrats!
Eden Vidal
thanks a lot @benln !

Congrats on the launch! How does rnbw handle real-time collaboration between designers and developers?
Eden Vidal
hey @memphys_sk, thanks for the question! our ideology is that design should be integrated into the development environment and everything that comes with it. therefore, we prioritize asynchronous collaboration based on files using git. 🌈 that said, i envision a future where we can benefit from both live and asynchronous collaboration. we're currently discussing this as one of the premium offerings we'll be able to provide to product design teams. 🀸🏻

hey product hunt! eden here, the designer and maker of rnbw. thank you so much @benln for hunting rnbw! it's time to unlock the boundless potential of design and engineering. excited? you should be. rnbw is my third attempt to create a design/development platform on the web. unlike my previous, rnbw doesn't seek to please everyone. it's laser-focused on a niche audience: designers who code or developers with a flair for design, the true front-end warriors who are ready for the #nobuild, #localfirst era. the real thing. a decade's journey has led us here. the world, the market, the economy, and perceptions have transformed. design and development have evolved, making us rethink our strategies to tackle this age-old problem. so, we rolled up our sleeves and worked for about a year on a handful of atomic concepts, ensuring they could become the underlying engine for the next phase of web creation. we’re only v0.1. we're just starting and introducing the basics - a near-zero-latency design-and-code synchronization. in this journey of ours, every small victory is a giant leap toward a reimagined future of design and development. learn more πŸ‘‰ https://rnbw.company/colorpaper

@edenvidal Congratulations for the launch, Eden!! πŸ’ :) Finally you are making me move from boring code editor... hahaha.. But looks worth switching to this cool editor.

Trying to make sense of what it actually does. How does this compete with VSCode with GitHub copilot chat for instance? What's the differentiator here? What makes it unique? How is it different from the way we design websites today?
Eden Vidal
@sentry_co rnbw is not competing or trying to. πŸ˜„ it runs your code and allows you to interact with it as if you're designing in figma. this distinguishes it from actually coding in vs code. as for copilot, it operates in a similar manner - but it's more of a design-centric approach to user experience with a static html, css,js as the foundation. πŸ’β€β™‚οΈ i believe rnbw is currently more beneficial for creating design systems for the web, such as css or a set of web components that are linked to many sites/apps. that's why we made it for ourselves.
AndrΓ© J
@edenvidal Ahah okay. So its is more a WYSIWG figma like design app that outputs. Raw css, html, js? Or using a JS framework in the middle somewhere?
Eden Vidal
@sentry_co yep, without any js framework in the middle. πŸ™Œ

This looks rad! I'd love to see a video walkthrough using the product basics and some links to sites built using rainbow :)
Eden Vidal
@mark_townsend1 check it out!

As a UX designer this could be extremely helpful. Congrats! Meanwhile I'm curious to know how rnbw integrates with existing developer workflows and toolsets. Seamless integration is crucial for widespread adoption, so I'd like to understand the product's extensibility features.
Eden Vidal
@amanda_huang_95 thanks! the road is long. at the moment, the fact that rnbw is local-first and works with plain html, css, js files is what's making it work with all existing dev workflows possible running in the background without interfering.
Anirudh Madhavan
Particularly for those of us who adore both design and coding, Rnbw appears to be really intriguing. It seems amazing to have design and code sync with almost no lag. How does it manage teamwork, particularly in the case of remote teams?
Derek
Looks really unique. Congrats πŸ‘πŸ»
Kiya L.
Congrats on your launch! Love the UI. It's sooo cute
Guy Magen
This looks verrrry interesting. will definitely try that!
Kyrylo Silin
rnbw sounds like a game-changer for those of us who straddle the worlds of design and development! The idea of near-zero-latency synchronization between design and code is particularly exciting. How does rnbw handle real-time collaboration between multiple users? Also, are there any specific integrations or tools that you plan to introduce in future updates to further enhance its capabilities?
Eden Vidal
thank you, @kyrylosilin! the zero-sync concept is fascinating. i've provided an answer about the collaboration here πŸ‘‰ https://www.producthunt.com/post... πŸ˜„ as for the future and integrations, our goal is to create as little "rnbw" as possible so that it can be extended and integrated with various systems. there will be straightforward integrations like live collaboration, ai models, and github, and others that are more specific to particular use cases, given the wild nature of design systems in organizations.

Congratulations on the launch. rnbw Simple and colorful
Ramya PK
You mentioned that the market and perceptions have transformed. How do you see rnbw fitting into the current landscape of design and development tools? Great launch!
Eden Vidal
@ramya_pk, thanks! i believe that emerging approaches such as #nocode, #ai, #nobuild, #localfirst, #webcomponents, #progressiveenhancement, and more are finally enabling us to create software in an extremely simple and intuitive way. this is definitely a long-term vision that may only fit a few people and companies at the moment, but we are doubling down on the future of the web.
Petru
Congratulations on the launch! Exciting to see it in action for web development. Kind regards.
