Clock in & out on your Jira Issues right from Slack!
Integrate your Jira projects with Remoty to log working hours in real time right from your team communication tools like Slack, MS Teams, Lark & minimize context switching.
Hello Product Hunt Community πππ
Thank you for checking out our launch. We started off with the vision to streamline remote work. We believe that remote work isnβt just about working from home or working onsite, it's about Freedom! πͺ
The freedom to choose any job anywhere in the world and working whenever you feel like working. While first part of this is already taken care of as there are countless remote opportunities for people living in all parts of the world. However, when it comes to work hours, majority companies end up fixing shift hours according to one timezone so that everyone is available to collaborate.
This synchronous form of remote work is one of the biggest challenge that remote workers face today & are still looking for ways in which everyone can work hours which suit them while not compromising on team productivity and togetherness.
Async work is the future of remote work as its the most scalable way to build remote teams. We identified two major issues which make it difficult for remote teams to go async.
π Team Availabilities: With no fixed hours there can be chaos, you donβt know when to expect anyone, for all you know someone could be on leave and you keep waiting for them to respond.
π―οΈ Work Updates: Most meetings are normally sync-ups & progress updates calls. If teams were to go async, how can everyone stay updated on the progress team has made.
We addressed the team availabilities issue through the good old Attendance & PTO management plug-ins which work right from Slack, MS Teams & Lark. Using these plug-ins everyone in the team knows whoβs available for a quick huddle or who wonβt be coming in today.
To increase work visibility, the first thing that we built was a daily check-in questionnaire which team members have to answer as they start their day. Some of our power users suggested that since they manage their sprints in Jira so they would love to have Remoty integrated with Jira.
Weβve therefore built this integration in a novel way as not only does it work as a traditional time tracker for Jira issues but it also increases work visibility, decreases context switching while ensuring that all Jira issues are updated instantaneously.
Very excited to hear the feedback & see if this integration really adds any value for our new & existing users!
Cheers! π₯

Thanks for supporting us, and we love to see your feedback in the comments! ππΌ
I've been using Remoty for over a year now with my agency team. I've shared feedback with Mahad and his team about how we're using this tool and they've always been responsive and eager to help us get the most out of existing features or even implement new solutions that would benefit other teams like ours! Being able to effectively handle time tracking within Slack makes it easy to get everyone on the same page and enforce teamwide adoption. I haven't found another tool quite like it!!
Congratulations on the launch Team Remoty.
For the past year, we have been taking advantage of Remoty's convenience and simplicity and it has been instrumental in organizing our remote operations. One of the best features of Remoty is the availability announcement, which made it possible for us to smoothly grow from a team of three to twenty-five. Without Remoty, scaling a remote team would have been more difficult. I have recommended Remoty to many of my friends who run remote companies and they have all praised its powerful feature set, impressive customer service, and regular updates.
@usamaabidj Thank you so much for your kind words! π€
We are glad to know that Remoty has been helpful in organizing your remote operations and that you've been able to scale your team effectively with the availability announcement feature. βοΈ
It's great to hear that not only you but all your friends to whom you referred Remoty also found it powerful and impressive πͺ
We're committed to providing the best possible experience for our users, so it's great to hear that our efforts are being recognized and appreciated. π Trying our best to continue making a positive impact on remote work operations & streamlining team processes for distributed remote or hybrid teams
Thank you for your support! ππ»
Hey @mahad_ahmed, congrats on the launch.
Curious to know how the developer time is actually tracked? Is it a manual input by the developer or you pick some data points from the tools?
@mahad_ahmed@kshitij_mohan Thank you so much π
We have designed a very lightweight & intuitive process where developers start and end their day by using simple shortcuts in their team communication tools like Slack, MS Teams or Lark.
Remoty automatically creates timesheets for each employee by recording the time between clock-in and clock-out (including all the break times in between).
The Team Leads or the Project Managers have access to live status of their employees in Remoty's web application.

Hello Community,
I have been using Remoty for some time, and I love it.
I am a founder of Feedbird and we are fully remote, we work in async mode and it was only possible because of Remoty.
I don't have to think about what everyone is doing all tasks are created when I am available and everyone works on their tasks when they are available. Remoty allows me to track their progress and if they are facing any blockers.
We are using it to get the max out of remote culture and I recommend everyone in my circle to use it.
Love you Remoty ππ.
@new_user_120ce37e17 Thank you so much for all your kind words for Remoty π It really means a lot to our whole team and these kinds of reviews are exactly what keep us goingππ
It's great to hear that you're enjoying using Remoty and we are glad that it's been helpful for your remote work culture at FeedBird π₯³
We at Remoty truly believe the power of working asynchronously. The ability to track progress and address any blockers can definitely improve productivity and efficiency when working remotely.
Once again thank you for sharing your positive experience with others. Best wishes to FeedBird π
Really like that you're trying to give more visibility into tracking different tasks in JIRA. It can be really hard to quantify if someone is struggling with a specific engineering task. This will help employees/managers to better manage expectations.
Would be cool if you had a tagging strategy that you could incorporate that would help engineering managers without all of the context better understand how long something should take. This could be an OAuth integration with Google for example with the tag OAuth as a reference on the JIRA ticket.
Also, would be awesome if you made it easier to consume data about your engineers with analytics that is out-of-the-box that aren't necessarily supported in JIRA.
@cjries Thank you for your amazing feedback! ππΌ We are already working on new designs to provide out-of-the-box analytics, combining data not just from Jira but other daily utility tools as well. Using Google OAuth for tagging in order to gather key insights sounds like a great idea! π‘
This is an interesting concept. It sounds like you've thought through the issues associated with asynchronous work and have developed a comprehensive solution that could solve them. Keep up the good work @rameen_zafar, @mahad_ahmed & @muhammad_owais2
Nice! TBH i didn't even realize that Jira had time tracking haha - though I've had teammates at past companies use tools like HubStaff for time tracking. Any plans to integrate with that?
@stedmanblake Lol π I guess you came across Remoty at a good time then!
Talking about HubStaff, it can be listed as one of our direct competitors but has a different target market. It is made for the teams who need to "track" their employees' activities & screens in between their working hours.
However Remoty has a vision to streamline team processes for a remote team. We believe that asynchronous work is the future of remote work as its the most scalable way to build distributed remote teams. Remoty tracks the total working hours of employees without actually "tracking" them & giving them the freedom to work according to their own time zones and shift timings.
The "Jira Time Tracker by Remoty" has been specifically designed for distributed remote teams to help them minimize context switching between multiple tools & increase work visibility over their remote/hybrid team πΎ
Let me know if you are looking for any other integration. We can surely discuss the requirements and work on that βοΈ
@highgroundio Yes pleasee! π We've had amazing feedback pouring in from the beta users. The ICs/engineers using it day in & out love it since they don't have to jump here & there and break context.
On a side note, do you find any value in the activity log (one shown in the last gallery image)?
@mahad_ahmed yea i thibnk its a must - lets be honest, accountability is key, it might not be something we all look at every day but we would sure take comfort in knowing its there. its also essential to determine the full amount of time allocated to a project, if its not tracked at that granular level you'll never be able to add it all up at the end or track as you go, especially against budget
@highgroundio Exactlyyy! I can't even begin to count the number of times when engineers would just start logging time randomly at the end of sprint or whenever a PM would have to turn in the timesheets. π€¦π»
My understanding is that majority of logs rather than helping you see the complete picture, paint a false one altogether. π
@bilal_niaz Thank you! π
I'm glad to hear that Remoty has been a valuable tool for your startup. Keeping track of progress and ensuring everyone is on the same page is crucial for the success of any team, especially when working remotely. It's great to hear that Remoty has been able to support your efforts in this regard. π₯³
Looking forward to hearing your feedback on our latest addition to Remoty π
