Reclaim Assistant automatically finds and defends time on your calendar for you to get stuff done, and preserves your work-life balance by keeping your personal and work calendars in sync.
Reclaim is by far my new favorite tool. I love seeing time blocked out on my calendar for focus or just a break. I used to do this manually but now it's just done for me, and it's smart about it
I have been WAITING for something like this. I've used other things (I forget the name) that is similar but was based on tasks, not my calendar. As a publicist, things change for me all the time, so I can appreciate a tool like this. I can't wait to try it out. I also love that you are giving business owners a break due to COVID 19 and offering it for free. I will surely be spreading the word. Checking it out now!
@ni_e_sha Awesome to hear, and really appreciate the feedback and support -- thank you! I'm curious if you would want to be able to make blocks on your calendar (similar to the ones Reclaim creates, where they auto-reschedule and shift based on your week's capacity) that correspond to your task list?
Thanks for hunting us @nikkitaftw! 🙏
Funny story: @nikkitaftw was actually one of the first users to try out some of the new features we’re launching today. We’re super grateful for her support.
This is our third ProductHunt launch, and in many ways, it’s a culmination of what we’ve released thus far -- albeit with some big improvements.
We started with LifeWork, which enabled thousands of people to start keeping their work and personal calendars in sync automatically. We then launched LunchBuddy, which gave people the ability to get lunch defended on their calendar every day.
With Reclaim Assistant, we’re bringing those features into a single UI and adding some foundational changes to help make your calendar smarter:
✉️ We’ve added Catch-Up events -- flexible, dynamic time blocks for you to catch up on email and tasks each day -- to Reclaim;
⏰ Working Hours are now modifiable, which means more control for folks who work alternative schedules or who are going through big changes to their hours as they move to WFH;
đź“Ł You can now tell Reclaim when your ideal times are for blocking lunch and catch-up times, and Reclaim will modify time blocks to fit those ideal timeframes;
📊 We’ve added auditing for LifeWork and Assistant, so you can see stats about what Reclaim’s doing on your calendar as well as view the most recent few weeks of events that have been added to your schedule;
⛱ Finally, we’ve integrated all the existing features that you’re used to if you’ve used LunchBuddy or LifeWork: syncing multiple personal calendars to your work calendar, automatic travel time blocks, a Slack integration for managing your time and more!
We’re really excited with all the feedback and new use cases that we’ve uncovered over the past few months, and this is just the beginning: as we evolve Reclaim, we’re going to add even more flexibility, so you can tell Reclaim exactly what you need and it’ll find time on your calendar to get it done every week.
Stay tuned, enjoy, and drop a comment below if you’d like! ❤️
Hey everyone! Really excited to be back, sharing a new round of major enhancements. Please let us know what you think and what you'd love to see us work on next.
In the meantime, I'm also open to answering any questions about the tech stack if folks are interested. The quick summary is:
* React frontend
* Java middle tier, Java 11, using the Micronaut framework
* Postgres backend / persistence, making good use of jsonb and hstore fields as well as a mini "job service" that takes advantage of the "SKIP LOCKED" feature introduced in 9.5
* Deployed entirely in AWS, frontend on Cloudfront and backend on ECS Fargate
We typically push to production 5-10 times per day.
Thanks!
Love this product -- super impressed by Henry and Patrick. I like how lunch and catch up times lock *if* there is no more time in your calendar to reschedule. I am certain that Patrick and Henry will continue building something great.
@jalagrange Thanks Juan! Wait till you see what we start doing next -- I'm betting you have things that you like to make time for multiple times a week, and that's exactly what we're aiming to start building toward soon. Stay tuned!
There is a saying, “Show me your calendar and your bank account, and I will tell you your priorities.” Reclaim ensures that my calendar represents my priorities regardless of whether it’s personal or business.
I absolutely love the idea and how are they developing it. Now that I can set up my own schedule and preferences for the time slots it just made my life so easier!
If you have a packed schedule with work and personal commitments (and who doesn't?) this is a must!
I have been using this for a while now and it's been a great way to make sure that my calendars are always up to date! I love that it will make sure that I have time blocked out for lunch. I also love that it makes sure that I have time blocked out to start my day properly. Well done to the team for making this!
@jason_sherron Thank you! We're self-described "meat and potatoes" people. We don't like overly fancy stuff either ;) I think you'll find that our next releases are going to keep things simple while introducing more control for the kinds of time blocks Reclaim creates on your calendar.
Reclaim is my favorite new additional to my WFH arsenal. Everyone having different timelines for when they have lunch can really easily cause your own lunchbreak to disappear one day. At the same time just lodging away 40 minutes a day isn't always doable. This fits perfectly in the middle, allowing me to remain flexible all the while ensuring i get that nice health work life balance.
@paul_thompson_21 Thanks Paul. That's how we felt as well: rigid recurring meetings just weren't flexible. Most people really want to be helpful and available and too often sacrifice their own well being or their own priorities in doing so. We think the stuff we're building strikes the right balance.
I've been using this for a while, and love it. It's been a handy way to keep my work and life calendar in sync. I've recommended it to a lot of people I know.
I've always given access to my multiple calendars so I can view them at once in layers, but had to remember to block my work calendar if scheduling something during work hours or vice versa and sometimes missed that step resulting in having to reschedule a personal or work event. Reclaim helps me avoid that extra step and ensures I don't miss something. I also used Google Goals to block time for focused work, but often my calendar would fill up - reclaim helps me easily find it/ reschedule it but keep it on the calendar so I'm not just back to back meetings. Also since working from home, the need to block time for lunch - if only to get away from my desk/zoom for a bit and go outside - is more important than ever. I love being about to give a window of time when I usually eat and let reclaim block it for me - making me flexible for work, but also ensuring I get that break. Really enjoying using reclaim.
I've loved that it blocks off my time automagically and that I really don't have to do anything to make that work. On top of it, I like that I don't have to remember to set things private for my personal meetings on my work calendar anymore. That's important for sure. Looking forward to trying it with Tripit (once travel starts up again).
Huge fan of the Reclaim Assistant. As a manager / leader, it's so easy to get caught up in feeling like the job is all about meeting after meeting when in fact the real value that you provide as a leader is your time alone, focusing (https://theamericanscholar.org/s...). Reclaim helps me find that time and helps me be a better leader.
Awesome tool to automate the management of your calendar in a flexible way so that others can find time to meet with you and you can be confident you'll have time for lunch and for yourself.
Also, the way it brings your personal events into your work calendar is magic. I used to have to invite my professional-me to those events so that they show up in my calendar and often that was not possible so I had to copy them and manually keep them in sync! So much time saved ...
Thank you so much for building this and looking forward to what's coming next!
I love that Reclaim automagically blocks my personal events out on my work calendar. I used to have to manually block those times out, and it's great that now it just shows up and people know I'm busy. I just enabled the new Slack integration and look forward to seeing how that helps me as well!
Making my calendars work for me...the way it should be. And I am enabled to work in a way that is more efficient and effective...so much less calendar Tetris. I would not want to go back to a pre-Reclaim calendar.
Reclaim is AMAZING! It helped me to get all my calendars (from obscure and non-obscure sources) into Calendly, for true accuracy about when I am available for meetings. I don't think there's any other tool out there that does this. Check out Reclaim, it's worth your time!
