The Empathy app empowers families and enables them to navigate the practicalities of loss at their own pace, with all the information and support they need - whether financial, legal, emotional, or logistical.
Wow. So much love for this project. I love the branding and tone of voice. It's so welcoming and comforting. Really really well done on the design front. Can't say "I'm looking forward to using it" the way I would say that with other cool products, but it is is comforting and reassuring to know that this tool is out there to help me get through something, should I need it. Is the idea for it to be used as a whole family or also for "single" people?
Firstly, thank you for the kind words @sarahxjo.
Making the app comforting and welcoming was a major goal for us, and we’re happy it came through so strongly!
The product can be used by an entire family, as everyone can benefit from the tools and the content it offers - whether they are the estate executor, or planning a celebration of life for their loved one. We are also planning to invest in a number of key collaboration features in the upcoming versions of the app.
Thanks again 🙏🏼
I remember speaking with you about this subject almost two years ago Ron, amazing work! Truly a hard and important issue to tackle. Good luck! @rongura
Great product guys. I recently went through this and it's a mess. I was the phone constantly with tons of people learning about things I never thought I'd need to. Pages upon pages of Medicare, hospital bills, rent, etc. "How much money does he have?" "I don't know" It's a real mess when someone passes.
@mattkenefick Thank you Matt. These are the stories we kept hearing again and again.
Loss is so hard, we are hoping to make this just a bit less frustrating and confusing.
Thanks for your support!
Kudos Makers!!! “Dark Stuff” rarely find their place in our “flashy” startup world, I love this. I downloaded the app to test the feels of the UI, yet flow did not allow me to proceed b/c I have not experienced a loss (in deceased sense lol) recently. design language and color palette is grounding.
Hey hunters, I'm Ron, Co-Founder and CEO @Empathy.
Over the past few months, I’ve partnered with the best people I know in design, product and engineering as well as estate law and grief experts, and together we’ve taken on a pretty big challenge: helping families deal with loss, from the details to the big things, practical, emotional, legal and financial. It’s a big challenge—and we’re using everything we know to solve it.
With intentional UX, process design, branding, and automation we are here to lighten the heavy burden families face when losing a loved one.
The Empathy app guides families through a personalized journey, tailored to their needs, while offering support, knowledge, and some helpful automation.
A few noteworthy features -
Paths and steps - personalized process navigation for each of the different tasks families face, at their own pace, based on their unique situation.
Original audio content for grief guidance
The Vault - for securely keeping important documents
Real-time chat with loss experts - human help and advice where needed
Our huge knowledge base which helps families make smart decisions
The team and I would love to answer your questions and share thoughts about building meaningful products and we’d appreciate your support with upvotes. If you or someone you care about is dealing with loss, our app is here to help, you can try it out for free.
And thanks @benln for hunting!
Thank you all for your support and honored to be nominated for the Golden Kitty Awards, can't believe it's been 9 months since we launched! What a journey it has been -
When we started Empathy, there were 5 apps for ordering pizza but none to help bereaved families cut through the miles of red tape & 100s of hours spent closing their loved one’s accounts and probating their estate. We're so proud to be part of a new generation of great apps that are doing good. Thanks for being a part of our journey!
You will help people not to stay alone with loss and to live on.. this project is wonderful! Too often I had to see how human's destinies break, but it did not even occur to me that it was possible to help somehow by the app. Hope it will work! The best of luck!
Thank you for asking @jamesmudgett!
Empathy is free for the first 30 days for all families, which covers the period of many of the more complex and difficult tasks after a loved one’s passing.
After the 30 day period, there is a one-time charge of $65 to continue using the app, for as long as it's needed. In addition, even after the free trial ends, users can continue to access all of their stored information and access audio and written content on the app for free.
@rongura Congrats Team Empathy! Thanks for building a product addressing a universal problem that's elegant, user-friendly, and highly functional. Great start and knowing how you've built a team full of relentless perfectionists ... I'm excited to see the constant iterations and improvements.
