Automate answers to operational and product questions, harness the know-how shared in chat, and manage repetitive queries. Save your team hours a week and focus on impactful work. 🔥🚀
This launch is incredibly timely! The new Slack integration is a game-changer for our team, especially the automated task tracking feature. It's like you read our minds - we’ve been struggling with manual updates. Kudos to the team for such a thoughtful and practical solution! Looking forward to seeing how this evolves. Upvoted and shared with my network!
👋 Hello awesome, Product Hunt community!
I am beyond excited to show you what we've built!
Last year we launched a way to "Turn your Slack into a Knowledge Base with Generative AI" and it became Product of the Day 🎉: People loved the promise of AI to do our busy work of sifting through conversations and digging out know-how.
We saw two major problems with applying AI to solve this problem - How to connect people to reliable information at work?
- 🔮 AI Hallucinations - You feed AI all your company's docs & chat history, it will make up 100% believable and 50% reliable answers 😆
- 🛑 Existing habits - People are tired of new tools & new ways of doing things, even if they promise to make them 10x better. The best thing about AI is that we can finally built UX for the flawed ways humans work instead of trying to force them into a new way.
So super excited to release Question Base today! 🥳
Your team does what they always do - chat and help each other out, and we add an *intelligence layer* on top of it that extracts and organizes the know-how automatically. 😎🤩
1️⃣ The AI smart captures know-how from the conversations and documents it.
2️⃣ Experts on the team verify it.
3️⃣ Next time someone has a question it knows the answer to, it replies INSTANTLY.
It's 100% accurate information in seconds. ✅
We've been in BETA for the past year, building out the product with design partners.
Now we are releasing it to everyone!
Please, put it to the test and share your feedback! THANK YOU so much 🙏
PS. Great use case:
📞 Support & Sales teams asking #product questions
@yanatornoe Hi Yana and Question Base Team,
Just saw your launch on Product Hunt and the concept of automatically extracting know-how from Slack conversations and documents sounds incredibly valuable! This addresses a major challenge of information accessibility within organizations.
I particularly appreciate your focus on overcoming the limitations of AI "hallucinations" and integrating human expertise for verified information. Question Base's ability to blend seamlessly with existing workflows seems like a game-changer.
A couple of questions to understand your approach better:
- Can Question Base be customized to specific industry terminology and ensure the security of sensitive information within conversations?
- Does Question Base integrate with other collaboration tools beyond Slack and how does it scale to meet the needs of larger teams?
As a full stack developer with experience in AI area, I believe I could potentially contribute to Question Base's development in areas like:
- Contributing to further refine the AI's ability to differentiate between true know-how and potential inaccuracies.
- Exploring ways to allow for user-defined information categories and access controls.
I'd love to learn more about Question Base's roadmap and how I can contribute to making it the go-to platform for AI-powered knowledge management within organizations.
Congratulations on the launch!
Best regards,
Max
How does Question Base ensure the information verified by team experts stays up-to-date? Also, can the AI handle queries from multiple Slack channels simultaneously?
@memphys_sk Great questions, Stefans!
1. The AI is really good at detecting duplicates so when a similar answer comes up - it surfaces the previous answers and asks the experts to edit it to the latest content.
2. Yes, it works in multiple channels. That's the beauty of AI -never gets tired. :D You can also DM with it.
Let me know what your specific use case is and we can work with it. It's pretty flexible! :)
Automating repetitive Slack queries could definitely boost productivity. Do you have features for continuously improving the automated responses over time? Congrats on the launch!
@kyrylosilin great question! We are releasing updates to the AI every few days and continuously make it better in detecting questions that need an answer in the chat and then also matching them to good answers.
Congrats on the launch of Question Base! This for sure saves a lot of time and effort for teams so people can dedicate their time to do more meaningful and non-repetitive works!
@tornoe@stefan_vladimirov@daniel_ortiz7@jurajpal YES YES YES 🙌 🚀 We are going to help so many companies utilize AI to free people of tedious work!
Thank you, Juraj! You're a big support for us!
We used Question Base at Roger when we were rapidly scaling the org post-acquisition. Our PMs, and all “old” Roger team members, were swamped with product questions from new hires and the broader new organization. QB became a game-changer for us, even in its early days, so I'm super excited to see the official launch today!
@cathrine_andersen working alongside your team at Roger team was pivotal. Observing how sales asked questions to the Product Managers shaped the core UX of the product. It helped us realize the first most important learning → people will not change their habit. This meant that the answers needed to be surfaced directly into the Slack conversation.
@cathrine_andersen@stefan_vladimirov I absolutely second what Stefan said! We learned so much from the Roger use case.
The team pushed us to focus on Slack vs. a new destination for asking & answering questions. Which forced us to start working with AI. It was the beginning of it all ❤️❤️
@alexander_sumin Totally! Interruptions suck. Especially when you work remotely. AI has a lot to offer in solving some of the issues.
Thanks for chiming in, Alex!
@rahul_agarwal23 Very good point! It's pretty good at detecting when somebody needs help and expects and answer and then it's daily chatter by the team. We've spent a lot of time on perfecting that flow so the bot can remain active in the busiest channels in the company without creating noise.
Thank you for supporting us!
Hello dear Product Hunters 👋
I am so excited about today's launch. Can you tell? This update comes after a year of talking with customers and iterating on feedback. Personally, I had loads of insightful conversations with Product Managers, Operators, Founders, Sales Enablement, and Support. And there was one recurring theme — people keep asking questions in Slack. In the words of one Product Manager, "Slack has become a nightmare." I felt for him. The pain was painted all across his face.
Even teams that had robust documentation and had implemented AI enterprise search still faced the same problem. The problem is that:
Adoption: People don't go to the new place. It's easier to ask.
Hallucinations: AI-generated answers come up with stuff.
In a recent conversation with a business owner of a pet insurance company in Australia, I learned that they tried one of the popular AI support assistants, but it was producing unreliable results, which made it a liability.
We knew that the only way we could solve this is by:
A. Instant adoption: Delivering answers right where people ask them (in Slack).
B. Verifying content: Company experts would have the final say on the AI-generated answers.
Basically, the AI does the heavy lifting, and the experts on the team just supervise it.
I am so proud of the team for coming this far. The product is deceptively simple, and we put a lot of care into keeping it this way. Because at the end of the day, we believe that there are more important things in your day than documenting and answering questions. I sincerely hope this product will help great teams do more meaningful work.
@andreas_sohns Thanks for the support, Andreas! Exactly! It's a zero-effort documentation. It's the human know-how, captured and organized by AI for the benefit of the human again.
At my first company Cobalt we had multiple channels in Slack to answer questions in a centralized way to avoid DMs to key personel, but even with those channels, the burden was still on a few individuals to constantly answer recurring questions. Often these individuals were the best in the company, so it was not a valuable use of their time.
QuestionBase solves this problem by automating questions on slack. So for me it was a no brainer to invest in them.
@ctraganos Thank you, Chris! Wow we've been on a journey for these past 10 years! There's so much potential to reclaim people's time from busy work.
Really happy to have you onboard!
You guys nailed it with Question Base! Automating Slack responses is a huge time-saver. Love how it streamlines repetitive tasks and boosts productivity. Great job!
@yashvant_yp Thank you for the support! You're so right. Answering in Slack is such a time-wasting activity for growing and remote teams.
We've heard about companies adding a Product Manager per feature to respond to related questions in Slack. Or making #ask-product channels where all the support agents post urgent questions and their PMs and engineers are routing shifts in responding.
There's so much manual work that AI can do now.
@mitko_ivanov1 Thank you! Yes, you were one of the very first people to try it. Tons of improvements in this update. Excited to power up your team again :)
