Hello PH, I am David the CEO of Quadratic! Have you ever wondered why working with Spreadsheets, Python, and SQL is so difficult? Not anymore! Today we are excited to announce the high-performance spreadsheet Quadratic. Try it out yourself, and let me know what you think!
Igor Pavlov
Not a python dev, but the stack sounds very sensible to me. When we acquire our first data and need to analyse it, where do we put it? Yes, right into a spreadsheet. If this scales in terms of data, this is a killer thing.
David Kircos
@igorpavlov yes! The spreadsheet is the best interface for exploring data and starting an analysis.

Figma for Data Science is an incredibly ambitious vision. was excited when I first saw quadratic... and THEN i found out it was open source! 🤯 it means everyone can embed this thing!!

Do you plan to have any integrations soon?

Congratulations on the launch of Quadratic! This platform looks like a game-changer for data analysis. I'm eager to try it out and see how it simplifies the process of working with multiple sources of data.

This reminds me of Canvas when they started, what would you say is the major difference?
Andrew Farkas
@nour_lake1 I'm not familiar with Canvas, and there's a lot of startups with that name. Are you able to give a link or description of it?
Nour Lake
@ajfarkas12 true! Here's their website https://canvasapp.com/ They recently changed their positioning, but they used to pitch themselves as being an infinite canvas spreadsheet where people could collaborate on all things data.
Vera Rose
🎉 Huge congratulations on your Product Hunt launch! I'm super stoked about this infinite canvas spreadsheet that empowers users with Python, SQL, and Formulas all in one place. This truly feels like the future of data analysis collaboration 🚀 Are there any built-in templates or tutorials to help new users get started with Quadratic?
Jim Nielsen
@vera_mur there are a few example files you can copy in the app. Open to the menu in the upper left and go to “File” -> “Open” and on that screen you’ll find some “Example” files you can look at.

This looks great! I often find myself delving into either Excel or Python to perform some rudimentary data analysis and so this could save me some massive time 😍 Love the look of the product and can't wait to try it out!

Congrats on launching Quadratic, David! Can't wait to try it, I'm a huge fan of Excel-like UIs. Combining Spreadsheets, Python, and SQL sounds super cool. Just subscribed, supported & Looking forward to testing and sharing feedback!

Great idea! Congrats on the successful launch

Interesting new competitor to Buster.so

Great solution! At my work, I have to export queries from the database to spreadsheets constantly because my BI tool is limited. Quadratic can save me a lot of time :)

@davidkircos @peter_mills2 @jim_nielsen Congrats on the launch, love the name!
David Kircos
@peter_mills2 @jim_nielsen @prithviiiraj Thank you for the kind words!
Finally, I can channel my inner data scientist without actually being one! Loving the built-in AI and Python features on Quadratic😀

@realvladgolub - I feel the same way LOL. The AI code-assist we have built-in is super helpful when you get stuck.

Hello David, congratulations on the launch of Quadratic! The combination of spreadsheets with Python and SQL has always been a challenge for many users, and it's exciting to see a solution that simplifies this process. I'm looking forward to trying out Quadratic myself. Can you tell us more about the performance capabilities of Quadratic? How does it compare to other spreadsheet tools on the market in terms of speed and scalability? Additionally, are there any plans to integrate Quadratic with other data analysis tools or platforms in the future?
David Kircos
@gricevecmd, The approach for Quadraic, is to build first-class support for Python, SQL, and spreadsheet formulas. This means any/all tools available in those ecosystems should work inside of Quadratic. Right now, all code is run via WebAssembly in the browser, performance is pretty good. I think with this approach, we can get to supporting 10 columns and 1-10m rows. Although the UI currently can not handle that, we are actively working on improving performance.
Adam Dill
This looks great! so what's your timeline for multi-user workflows / real time collaboration? as a google docs refugee, I can't work in a spreadsheet without sharing it with others.
David Kircos
@adamdill This is on our timeline for summer/fall this year! Highest priority item on our roadmap, but it's difficult to do properly.
