I remember first playing with Povio at the 2013 LAUNCH conference (here's their pitch). They just released a big new update. Excited to see how it's changed.

What is the business plan of this kind of messaging apps? For example how povio will make real money?

loved the povio concept when it first came out, but not necessarily the execution. hopefully this update is an improvement. gut instinct says those #s aren't really accurate though..

Povio seems to play in the same space as snapchat with an even larger focus on in the moment, but their adoption numbers are incredible. This could be due to the nature of mobile apps/networks being able to recreate a network quickly http://ben-evans.com/benedicteva... I think the ability to ping people is probably a huge driver of that. Would be interesting to see them ramp that up with a one tap "ping close friends" type functionality
