DeskHog - A developer toy from PostHog

It's a developer toy that brings developers joy. Open-source. 3D-printed. Palm-sized.

Can it play Doom? ...We're working on it.

Okay, you got an audible laugh out of me 😂😂😂

Honestly the marketing from posthog is pretty cool. they have a super strong brand identity at this point. im sure someone has masterminded this and imo they deserve alot of credit!

Danilo Campos

@catt_marroll I'll pass along your kind remarks, it means a lot to us. In fact many people have masterminded it! I work with the smartest and most talented people I've met in my career and so much of it comes down to each individual person really caring about the work and doing their best to push the message forward a tiny bit at a time, and helping their peers do the same. I'm still stunned by it all.

(I'm eight months in; I was given budget to build this in my fourth month)

@_danilo ha thats awesome!! it does seem like a really cool place to work from what i've gleaned reading the blogs!

Glad to see another great launch from PostHog, always creating amazing and in this time funny tools!

Himanshu Raikwar

Does Poshog work with Figma plugins?

Danilo Campos

@himanshuraikwar if your code can hit our API, you can log events with it! If you're using node it's pretty easy. Here's an example from our wizard tool: https://github.com/PostHog/wizard/blob/main/src/utils/analytics.ts

A tiny 3D-printed dev gadget that sparks joy? Love it already...

Open-source and built for play—definitely something devs didn’t know they needed :))

Laura Cruickshanks

LOL ... thanks for the kit. I'm going to try to use my daughter's Toybox 3D printer to make this!

Danilo Campos

@laura_cruickshanks can't wait to hear how it goes!

Juan Bautista Beck

😂😂😂 loving Poshog ideas. Always funny

Zagita

😱😍 Oh my God! It's so cute! Cheers to DeskHog!

A travel version that attaches to laptop lids is something I would suggest looking into. Since so many developers bring their equipment with them, it would make a fun and unusual way to identify them at meetings or conferences.

Danilo Campos

@abhishek_warmack Funny you should mention: definitely prototyped exactly this. maybe I'll throw a variant of the 3D printing file up...

Danilo Campos

@zlwaterfield 😎 sooooon
