Screen Pop is a multiplayer screen sharing app that lets you work together like you’re in the same room. Unlike videoconferencing tools that are designed for presentation, Pop lets everyone participate through multiplayer drawing & control.
@jsherwani ScreenHero changed my life, so I was gutted to find out it was going to be sunset post-Slack acquisition.
Its resurrection as Screen brought me life and I’ve been using it with my team — brings back memories 🥰
All I have to say is thank you for building such a robust, intuitive product.
Have been using the private beta and I’m in love with this app for our team at Lickability. @jsherwani has been super receptive to our feedback and the product just keeps getting better.
For everybody else wondering what happened with ScreenHero inside of Slack and why Jahanzeb ended up building another ScreenHero but calling it "Screen" instead, this excerpt says it all:
"In 2015, Slack acquired ScreenHero, and I led the team that built Slack Calls: voice, video and screen sharing in Slack. We finally shipped interactive screen sharing almost three years later, but it wasn’t as performant as ScreenHero, and was eventually removed in 2019. Given that it was used by a tiny fraction of Slack’s user-base, and had a high maintenance cost, this was the correct decision for Slack."

For the record, we were avid users of ScreenHero but I dislike Slack for it's chaos and distraction so when ScreenHero was acquired we lost one of our most beloved tools.
I couldn't be happier that Jahanzeb decided to build the standalone tool that so many of us non-Slack people wanted and needed.
THANKS!
?makers Did you raise any funding for this? Any thoughts about potential social/teen (mis)uses for the product that I think are inevitable? Remarkably snappy app for a two-person team. We wrote about it here https://techcrunch.com/2020/03/2...
I still remember become paid user on screenhero during 2014 and get all my clients on board, really sad when slack acquired and later closing down, hopefully this won't disappoint.
This is amazing. Just did a quick test with some less technical folks and they were impressed with how zero config it was. Very snappy, love that it works in browser on mobile and desktop.
We are testing now. We have team in LA, SF, Turkey and Ghana. We were using microsoft teams and mostly zoom. I can say Screen is way better than zoom...
@jsherwani it seems you rush this ( totally understandable in todays situatuion) ,there are few super low hanging fruits if you do it, you can leap head. currently you nail the voice quality , (for europe , turkey, ghana, mexico it works better then teams, slack, zoom, whatsapp, facetime, wechat business for sure ), there are very few small urgent things, you need to add. please reach on linkedin i will quickly write them for you.

We use screen for pair programming, and it's really terrific! (Thanks so much for supporting Linux as a first-class platform.)
I'm a big fan of "future of work" applications that make creative use of video. I regularly talk to people who were devoted ScreenHero users and who feel like they have never found another tool to replace it. This is a big day for that community of power users, and for everyone else, too, like me, who missed the original ScreenHero revolution.
Nice article, @joshconstine !
We're early users of Screen and love it. It's super quick to get on a call with my team and the point and click co-browsing makes explaining things remotely a breeze. Excited for this!!
This is awesome. Congratulations J! Very exciting to see the return of ScreenHero with simple yet powerful new tricks. Character-by-character ephemeral messaging is a **brilliant** design decision.
@zakmandhro Thank you, Zak! 🙏I'm so glad you wrote, and love that you caught that simple detail! 🙌Our main goal is to minimize the time between an idea going from my head to yours, and it's amazing how quickly that happens if you see just a few letters being typed! We need to do a better job of setting expectations correctly, but yes, I'm excited to see how users respond 😄
Hello Product Hunt! 👋
Today, I'm launching Screen, an app that lets you work together like you’re in the same room. Previously, I was co-founder/CEO of Screenhero (acquired by Slack in 2015), and led the team that built Slack Calls (voice, video, and screen sharing in Slack).
Screen is great for:
- Engineers: pair programming, code review, live debugging, and brainstorming
- Designers/Creatives: allowing others to draw on your screen makes creative review with stakeholders incredibly more interactive and engaging
- Students/Teachers: being able to draw and drive a shared screen together means students can ask questions more effectively, and teachers can help students where they’re stuck
- Any knowledge worker: if you work with others, and need to have two or more people give input on the same app, Screen can help

I’ll be around here to answer any questions! I hope you find Screen useful, especially during these times.
FYI @jsherwani, I did a video review of Screen and tagged you on it but I don't think you're super active on LinkedIn. I wanted to put your great new tool in front of a different audience (beyond tech folks!)

Great app! The only downside is they need to download the app to share screen where other solutions use built-in browser functionality. That is a deal-breaker for me.
Looks, interesting! Also, I can't find password reset option. @jsherwani First time, I come across a product where I don't see the option at upfront or on sign in page.
