We all lose countless hours staring at our screens and scrolling through endless text streams. Using Podcastle, you can instantly turn your favorite news, articles, and blog posts into podcasts with very natural human speech using machine learning.
Hey Product Hunt community, I'm Arto, the Founder of Podcastle AI. Thank you @chrismessina for hunting us - today is an exciting day for us! I'm happy to present to you Podcastle AI - text to podcast converter based on Machine Learning.
It's a free browser extension, and all you have to do is – install it, signup, and then go to your favorite news website. Open any article/news and tap on Podcastle's extension icon, and it will turn the article into a podcast in a flash.
Our text-to-podcast converter based on machine learning is our unique offering. The podcasts we generate are very human-like and consider all the emotions and the writer's tone of voice. It's especially great for those working remotely.
While we focus on our work or household chores, like washing dishes and making coffee, Podcastle turns news into podcasts to help them know what's happening in the world without reading a newspaper.
We will be looking forward to your feedback and questions in the comments about Podcastle AI.
You can try it for free: https://chrome.google.com/websto...
@chrismessina@arto_yeritsyan Can you guys make it work on Google docs and pdf files (opened in chrome) as well? It will add great value to many people, I think.
The idea is really great and works actually !
Still need improvements (honestly I couldn't listen an entire podcast with the voice of my GPS + some problems to recognize h1, h2, h3 ...) : Anyway I will follow with attention your future developpment.
Bonus : It's hilarious in french (and german) - it's like having a authentic robotic-UK lord at home 💂🏻♀️❤️
This is one of the most useful tools for starting my day. I have been looking for something like this for a long time. One feature request is to be able to add multiple items into a queue. Is that going to be added anytime soon? Awesome implementation! Congrats to you all!
Wow, what a quality, and that for free (at least currently). What paywall price you're planning to introduce?
But I would only switch from naturalreader if you support more than 1.5x (preferably up to 2.7) and the current written word or sentence is highlighted for the case that I need to take notes etc.
I would also encourage you to become a cross-platform Pocket-replacement, since Pocket only offers its reading service on mobile.
@moritzwallawitsch Thanks for the feedback! Definitely we are going to have all the features mentioned. Regarding paywall we are not sure, but most important for us is our users obsession so we will do our best to have fair pricing and provide good value and benefits
I love it! Comes really handy, thank you 🙏
Only thing is… that » "Another podcast is in progress. Are you sure you want proceed?" prompt is pretty annoying if you want to listen several articles in a row.
Since podcastle is so quick with generation, this prompt is totally unnecessary.
✌
Love how you folks have marketed the extension as a podcast maker when broken down its an enhanced text-to-speech tool and how ?makers made us realize the usage through the whole long text reading pain concept. Thanks for this
Congratulations on the launch. Extremely excited about this product.
Questions:
1) Any plans on using your technology for people to create their own podcasts.
Basically Podcaster “place” articles like a playlist a people can follow/download?
2) any plans on creating a short podcast management tool where podcasters can add their personal podcast introduction as an introduction to the “playlist”.
3) Long term: any plan to used your incredible technology to make a personal machine learning. So basically your read out the articles with the podcaster voice.
@benhouri Thanks for the questions. We are working 24/7 to have all the points mentioned by you, we have that in our roadmap, and soon it will be Live for all our fantastic users.
I was so curious about this that I downloaded Chrome just to try it! What I like about this, is that your extension will grant accessibility to people with reading issues! Love that! Hopefully on Firefox, too someday?
So it's not a "Podcast" at all. It's text to speech. It's a decent text to speech, but "to a podcast" is misleading because it literally doesn't make a podcast for you as far as I can tell.
This is great! I just installed the Chrome Extension and tried with a random article from NYTimes. The voice is really natural and very easy to follow. Great product!
One question. Is there a limit on how much text it can read?
OMG that instructions video is just on point! Absolutely love your design language @arto_yeritsyan. I really how it helps me multitask and listen to my news articles while working on other things.
How did you come up with the idea? And how do you plan to scale this out?
@rish154 Thanks for the good questions! During the hustle of daily work, I always wanted to be able to be up-to-speed with news specifically in tech and also read Medium articles, but with my schedule, it was almost impossible, So basically I created the simpler version of this just for me, and than it expands to something more. For the longterm, we want to power everyone to have their voice heard without any barriers!
@arto_yeritsyan Sounds amazing! For the future, might be nice to consider a shazam like feature wherein if someone is listening to Podcastle AI, i can tell what it is and if i want to listen to it - or even share what i am listening to. Just a thought :)
The Concept is great! The UX and the UI are great but That for sure not a human voice. I am reading my articles in medium or using Pocket to save my articles and they both have a text to speech feature that sounds robotic. I would love to use your product if you manage to change the Robotic sound to a real human voice =)
I am going to stop using it, because have to click 4 times before I can listen to it, is to complicated. Going back to the macOS speaking function, it's more accessible and sounds pretty much the same.
So I don't understand why you went through all the trouble to create an explainer video, but did no work to provide a simple demo of the product? If it works as great as you say it does, then *show* that it does, stop telling people that it does.
There's a lot of trust required to install an extension, and you haven't earned that trust with your web site. Everyone claims to have amazing text-to-speech these days. The way you prove it is by showing people on your home page, not forcing them to download an extension just to hear what it sounds like.
@fastfedora1 Thanks for your feedback and great idea by the way. We thought about that but somehow missed. We will definitely add it to our landing page
Just left some feedback via the app. I think this has TONS of promise and looking forward to the updates. Very very excited for you and your team @arto_yeritsyan
Someone may have asked this and I missed it, but any plans to offer an API in the future to convert articles to speech? Am currently building a content sharing product and would love to be able to offer the option to allow users to listen to articles as opposed to reading.
Wow, l'm impressed. I was using "text to speech" web tools before, but it takes too much effort to copy and paste the text into those platforms, and the the quality of the audio is usually extremely poor. Podcastle extension is right the opposite, and so seamless to use! I would even be willing to pay for this!
Two questions
1. Seems like the tool doesn't work with Google docs, are you planning to build the integration in the future?
2. Do you consider adding more sound speed options? like 1.75x, 2x. That would be very handy
@mane_yeganyan Thanks for your positive feedback ! What regarding to our questions - Yes, integration with Google docs will be added with one of our next releases and of course some more speed options will be available as well.
