@lyondhur I laughed so hard. You're exactly right, concern is correct, that will be the case for today I presume. The main motivation behind peek is showing others what you do, where you are, letting people join in your experiences. We'll be glad to have you back anytime. Thanks for your comment.
@arda_yaman Best of luck with the project mate. I guess more than the app itself, you lads seem to have the bet spirit behind the work (which counts more than people know).
Good fun! Peek is chatroulette for mobile - a gallery of confused looking early-adopters and VCs trying to figure out what's going on - no hot dogs, yet
Wow wow. What a wonderful way to write content for the landing page. :D LOL.
There is a minor type in the footer though - Instead of agreement its aggreement.
Love the vibe you guys have going with this, and that landing page is awesome. One constructive criticism, if I may: you should really consider a different term for viewers than "stalkers." Although I appreciate the jokeful nature you guys have going, as someone who's worked with victims of stalking in the past, it really isn't a term to throw around or joke about so lightly. Just my two cents. Otherwise love what you guys are doing!
Marry me, damn it! fkng marry me! I can't live since Marketing died to leave the seat to "branding"... Please marry me, any of you two! so, ahem, WTS is this? a social media thing? yay! To show the world who I really am? No shit! Seriously, Please let me follow the project as an anthropological research. Can I? I promise to post every week, record, myself live with a nipple out!
This launch page seems like it would confuse and alienate most people outside the world of product makers and marketers, do most of you disagree? Is this really the right way to go for a consumer product outside of just appealing to the PH community? Is that really the right early audience for this product? Mobile page had no calls to action even. Feel like most people would just churn.
@lukensok The main reason why we're building stuff is the consensus factor. We don't like following rules. I agree that we're ignoring conventional knowledge but that's the motivation behind peek. Therefore we don't really care having no call to actions at all. Thanks for your comment Lukens.
The landing page is not good, imo.
I get you're trying to break rules, but alienating the rest of the world outside your sphere is not a good sign. Would've gotten the app if I understood the UX of the page (It took me a while to realize the nav is actually clickable and not just random text.)
It's funny but terrible UX.
Cheers.
@ftxrc we don't care if the UX of a one pager is "terrible". Terrible for the consensus, pretty good for the rebels. Plus, it's pretty obvious that the nav is clickable. Even for the consensus. Cheers
I'm working in Brazil and it was so nice to see a stream from back home in East Village, NYC! Once this hits critical mass, I could see using this to check out a protest on 6th Ave, whether a party at a bar is worth going to, or how crowded the park is.
One inconvenience is the number of push notifications I'm getting. It seems like the app sends one for every new stream. I turned them off for now but I'd turn it back on if they were a little more "intelligent". Maybe just notify me if a certain stream gets popular or if there's one within a certain distance of me.
Can we talk about the awesome interactions as well? Hovering over a link highlights as well as dims other content to draw focus to the item they want you to be directed to? BRILLIANT!
I got rickrolled twice. Once I clicked the first footer link, I knew the second one would be a rickroll but I clicked it anyway :( Good job at cutting through the generic copy that's littered across every landing page.
@milank49 Hmm tough call. I think most "kids" may not use FB, but most have it. It's like checking your mailbox, even though you do everything by email. Also, lots of people get FB just to log into other applications. And in lieu of Instragram Connect, FB serves as a good signup/login product IMO, since it provides decent filters on ID authenticity, etc.
Looks interesting from the landing page, but very disappointed you're not using the official Facebook login API and instead making me enter in my FB creds.
