Developers, data scientists, and other technical creators now have a social monetization platform made for them.
Creators can share files, datasets, code functionality (via web APIs), and text-based media through the web interface and the Ouro API.
Hey everyone! Thanks for checking out Ouro ❤️ It's been a passion project of mine for the past year and I'm excited to keep making it better for ya'll every day.
My mission with the platform is to help others pursue what they're passionate about. Given the right forms of expression for the technical persona (files, datasets, APIs), I think we'll all benefit from talented people doing what they love while building a business around it.
I look forward to working with ya'll and I'm excited to see what you share!
Hey Matt, Ouro sounds like exactly what I've been looking for! Love the idea of helping people express their passions through APIs and datasets. Quick question though--do users need any specific technical skills to get started? Or is it friendly for someone who isn't super technical? Anyway, excited to see where this goes!
@oliverjameshawthorne there's something for all levels of technical skill! You can focus on sharing your ideas through writing posts, or uploading media you've created with a simple file upload. None of these require any technical expertise! We're working on making the technical aspect more approachable too.
6 months ago, I left an amazing job to build my dream.
Today, I share that dream with you all.
The dream has manifested into a platform that I hope will change how people earn a living, how we solve hard problems, and what people work on.
I envision a future where work doesn't feel so much like work anymore.
A future where people are able to work on problems that truly excite them.
Thank you for being a part of that. Your support means a lot!
Can't wait to see y'all on Ouro. Happy building! 🚀
Fantastic platform...visually impressive! I really appreciate the concept of creators using each other’s work as a foundation for their own innovations. Congrats and good luck with launch and platform!
@nmoderwell Really love the vision behind Ouro. The idea of giving technical people the tools they need to create and share their passion projects is awesome.Kudos to you and the team for bringing this to life.
Congratulations on launching this innovative platform! I'm really excited to see how it caters specifically to developers and data scientists. The ability to share files, datasets, and code functionality via web APIs is particularly intriguing and could significantly streamline collaboration within our technical communities.
I’m curious about the security measures in place for sharing sensitive datasets. Also, are there plans to integrate more community features, like forums or feedback systems, to further enhance creator engagement?
Overall, this sounds like a fantastic step forward in the social monetization space. Can't wait to see how it evolves!
@allen_xu1130 Thanks Allen! I hope you find it useful. Are you asking about datasets that might have PII in them, or more like a private dataset you only want to share with a select group?
We've got organizations, teams, posts, and DMs to support collaboration! You can react on posts and comments too. You can think of a team sort of like a subreddit. We'll work to make this better, but this should be enough to get people started on collaboration!
Hey Matt,
I'm curious about how you handle version control for shared code and datasets. Is there a built-in system, or do creators need to manage that externally?
What measures are in place to ensure uptime and reliability, especially for paid functionalities?
Congrats on the launch!
@kyrylosilin Hey Kyrylo, these are great things to be thinking about. It's not something we've handled on the platform yet, but I can see it's going to be important. We should have either a deeper integration with Github and alternates, or some kind of internal management. Does one sound better to you?
Right now, we've just been going with the copy-and-iterate idea common with Claude and ChatGPT, where you make a new copy with the changes. We can do better though.
To your second question, just the basic measures expected in modern development. Uptime and reliability is important to us because we want creators to be able to use shared APIs as components in their own products. If one service goes down, many more could go down and that wouldn't be good.
Thanks for the questions!
@phyllis_brooks definitely! That's planned as the last layer of the platform that ties together with the other functionality on the platform. Coming soon!
Ouro is an incredible platform that empowers technical creators to monetize their passion through files, datasets, and APIs! I'm curious—will future updates include features for collaborative projects or marketplaces where creators can team up and co-monetize their work?
@annaho2000 oh wow, that's a really cool idea! I think it would fit great! A team gets together and builds something people love, everyone that contributed should share in the profits! Added it to the roadmap, thanks!
Ouro sounds like a fantastic platform for helping people turn their passions into tangible projects and businesses! By providing tools for technical expression like files, datasets, and APIs, you’re creating an environment that really supports creators and entrepreneurs. It’s clear that you’re passionate about empowering others to pursue what they love, and that’s a mission everyone can get behind.
Excited to see how people will leverage Ouro to build their ideas—looking forward to hearing more about what the community creates! Keep up the great work!
Congratulations on launching Ouro! This platform is a game-changer for technical creators, simplifying monetization and collaboration. Curious to know if there are plans to integrate advanced analytics tools to help creators better understand their audience and revenue streams?
@flowsz Thanks for the comment! We do plan to integrate creator analytics. Things like where users are coming from, how much are they spending, and more in-depth interest-based profiling is on the roadmap. We want to give creators all the tool needed to understand their audience and how people are engaging with their products.
Congratulations on launching this innovative platform! As a developer myself, I'm really excited about the potential for creators to monetize their work in such a tailored environment.
I find the ability to share files and datasets alongside APIs particularly intriguing. It opens doors for collaboration and makes it easier for creators to demonstrate their skills and solutions to a wider audience.
Have you considered integrating features for community feedback or support, like a rating system or discussion forums? These could enhance the sense of community and further drive engagement. Looking forward to seeing how this platform evolves—it's definitely a game-changer for our community!
@suifeng great idea. Adding a rating system to the roadmap. As more and more people add their creations, there needs to be a good way to amplify the high quality stuff. Right now, you could post about another's creation and talk about it, review, feedback, etc., but we should give other (easier) ways to provide feedback too.
@kszhebrovskaya he's a great inspiration, and love that book! When I saw the book come out with the same logo, I was so happy. I hope to be tapping into the same creative force he talks about, and enabling others to do the same!
Interesting concept! I can see this being really useful for devs and data scientists looking to monetize their work. One thing I'd love to see is a feature for collaborative projects - like letting multiple creators team up on a dataset or API. Also, it might be cool to have some kind of built-in testing or validation tools for the shared code and APIs. Keep up the good work!
