@rafyasarmatta There is also Bravo and Vivaldi. Vivaldi is also doing some interesting things that are out of the norm. Using Chrome though across all my devices, no other browser has that multiple device seamless integration of data like Chrome which is why I always revert back to it on a desktop even if it isn't the prettiest or feature rich browser out there. Also with the fairly new Toby bookmarking extension only being on Chrome and how essential it has become for me, that's another thing tying me down to Chrome.
@ignaty actually I created an issue on their bug tracker for developer version a while ago with this improvement. Don't know what happen with it tho'.
@paljoakim by having Slack I would totally move away from Franz, although there are some red flags here because of so many distractions that are now concentrated under one window - THE browser.
Ah, you beat me to it.
Congrats to the Opera design team for taking an experimental approach with the Opera Neon and shipping it with all its flaws - the Reborn is exactly what the name says.
Lovely UI and interaction, the onboarding is pretty nice and speed-wise, it's not that bad!
What I love in neon is totally new tabs design. Now its gone in the new opera. maybe it would be good to make it possible for user to switch between tabs style.
Loving this so far, but how do you get the compact messenger view? Mine has the sidebar to the right with 'options', 'people', etc. Ends up looking very messy.
@nickcil ISP blocks some websites with Opera VPN turned on also Google is redirecting me to local Google version, then whats the point of having a VPN ?
@samjohnson__ there's no functionality missing for Opera Reborn to be a browser, it's just not so dedicated as other browsers are, personally I think a browser should just focus on requesting and rendering pages, it can offer APIs for developers to extend it's functionality, but it shouldn't ship these things (IM, VPN) on product level.
Really loving it! I was just going to test it out but I've found that I like it enough to give it a real try. Besides built-in VPN and ad-blocking, I like that they also have Opera Turbo (data saving) and battery saving features. Plus, it's really quite a beautiful, slick, and fast browser.
YEEEEEEAH BUDDY! I loved Neon, so I'm pumped to give this a try for a few days.
Can't wait to see more messaging integrations. Workplace might be a good one, as we've recently started using it. Slack, would also be good. I guess these things will come in time! 😄
Opera has always kicked ass by its own unique vision of UX and UI, and no doubt the messenger integration is a fantastic useful feature. What I am really surprised by is the fact that I can't change the position of the sidebar :)
It would be really great to be able to move the sidebar to the right side, dock it to the top, or the bottom of the window. I am personally annoyed by having it on the left all the time limiting the horizontal space.
I was scared to leave chrome, but just yesterday found this add-on https://goo.gl/VvUG1 that allows installing extensions from google chrome web store directly in opera browser. Today I made the move and in general, I'm impressed. I can't install *Chrome Remote Desktop*, though (because it's an app, not an extension). Plus, *product hunt* extension does not work.
@foscolosnick another thing to keep in mind before making the switch from chrome to opera is that Opera does not support syncing extensions like chrome does if you have multiple desktops/laptops this can be a deal breaker.
@amits510 Oh! I wasn't aware of this, I can imagine the struggle. Fortunately, I use just one mac mini for work, so I guess I'm going to be fine, but hey, thank you! 👊🏼
