Tadpole is the first webcam designed for laptops, and the smallest webcam ever made. Powered with the first directional mic, AI noise isolation, and a capacitive touch Tap to Mute button, Tadpole gives you the best video calling experience anywhere you work.

Excited to be hunting Tadpole today. Veeraj, Stefan, and the Opal team have been hard at work and delivered an amazing new webcam designed for laptops. It's incredibly small and has great image quality — but it's the directional audio mic that's the real gamechanger. Can't wait to use this product.

@alexisohanian Pretty sleek photos, the one clipped to the Jeans is giving vibes of those old Apple iPod commercials!

@jackson_foster Oooo good point. Definitely vibes. Great creative direction overall — wait til you see the packaging.

No idea why they launched this. instead should have focused on fixing their crappy software. I have the original Opal C1. There is no market need for this product of lower spec than their original device. The whole pitch of the C1 was that it's a 4k webcam, has boke effects etc. Why launch something lower-end when there's already loads of other webcams competing at this price and quality point?

Wow, not a usual product on ProductHunt. How much does it cost? Available across the globe? What is the USP apart from the size ?

Love the minimalistic deisgn. The website is also very nicely designed. How good is it for creating video podcasts?

@jsteneros Very good! Can't beat the form-factor when on the road, too. Portable af. Still super high quality.

Looks like a great update over Opal C1 that I use for over a year now! Congrats on the launch!

Can we see the video quality? :)

I immediately thought "wearable" when I saw the strap. Really, I'm in love with how portable this looks.

And plans to support an iOS app?

Big fan of my Opal C1! Excited for this launch. Do you guys have any team pricing? Would love to make this part of my brand's equipment package.

Big fan of Opal. Fortunate to get my hands on C1 in the early days and it’s game-changing for me. Love this design and the new product. Also this means will there be a new design update on C1?

Pitty...I only use ChromeOS and Linux. Website states that only Mac or (before) Windows. More like a fashion product than a real useful gadget.

So is it for laptops or for a females jean pocket?

The Tadpole is a fantastic product that makes Zoom just a bit more fun. The device looks cute, works extremely well and is very portable. It's the first webcam that feels like it's actually built for laptops and people on the go. The touch Tap to Mute is such a convenient (and smart) feature. If this is what the Opal team has cooked up, I can't wait to see what they do next.

@hnshah The team has fantastic industrial design taste

I just think everyone wishes for a small and very powerful web camera.

Better or similar to built-in camera of M2 MacBook Air? Does it really produce the bokeh effect on the sample video on Tadpole landing page?

I've always been interested in tech products like this, especially the latest one from Humanis. But for the time being, I'd have been curious to see if it's possible to make images with this camera, and to know if it's possible to have the same effect as other cameras with a blurred background.

Wow, Tadpole sounds incredible! A laptop webcam that's specifically designed for video calling, along with advanced features like an AI noise isolation mic and Tap to Mute button, truly elevates the video calling experience.

Love this form factor, although I thought you might be moving into the Tab, Humane, etc. wearable space at first. Any plans, @veerajchugh?
