One Task X cuts the chaos—focus on one task each day, manage many overall. Simple, bold, and built for doers who want clarity over clutter. Tick your “X” and own your day.
No signup.
No installation.
Hey Product Hunt! I’m Akos, maker of One Task X and this is my first launch here. 😊 But let me ask you this: do you Ever feel buried by endless to-do lists?
We’ve all been there—half-done tasks piling up, focus fading.
One Task X flips that: pick one task daily to crush, while keeping your bigger list in check. It’s not about doing less—it’s about doing what matters, one “X” at a time.
Features: - a standout “Today” task (only one allowed!) - a clean list for everything else, and a satisfying tick-off vibe. - no signup - no installation - mobile & web - dark/light theme - everything is stored on your device, encrypted
@masump it's super simple. You can put only one task into the Today column and you can't have priorities besides that. Once that task is moved out from the Today column, you can put something else there. Recurring tasks aren't a thing yet in the app, but it's a great idea. Thank you!
@busmark_w_nika in browsers that support PWA apps, you can download the app and run it from desktop like a native app. Hope this answers your question!
GTD! Simple, useful. I love the idea that there is no need for registration.
I made something similar for a fantasy football tool in Italy, but at some point, you might want to engage with your users—and you can’t.
But it sounds and feels so free.
Thanks! Yeah, there are tradeoffs, for example, to have some multi-device sync I'd need to have some sign-in functionality but I had the single task concept in my focus for now.
Simple yet elegant! Just a small suggestion - keeping the 'Add Task' input always visible could enhance usability and make it easier to quickly log any thoughts.
Love the simplicity of this! The whole “pick one thing and actually finish it” approach feels super refreshing — especially compared to the overwhelming apps that throw 20 notifications at you before breakfast.
Curious, does One Task X support recurring tasks or is it strictly one fresh task per day? And love that everything stays local — privacy is such a win these days.
Just tried it out and that tick-off moment is chef’s kiss.
@williamrobertscott thanks a lot William! Haha yeah I know those. This was actually born as a replacement for the sticky notes that were waiting for me every morning on my desk. Even though there were a bunch of them, I could usually finish only one. :) No recurring tasks for now, but others have asked for this too so it's definitely on the wishlist :)
You can move a next task into Today, once you check the current task that's there. The only limitation is that you can't have multiple tasks in Today at the same time.
Your concept of focusing on one major task per day can really make productivity feel more achievable and less overwhelming. The “Today” task feature is particularly intriguing, def having one clear priority could be an excellent way to ensure you're always moving forward on what's most important.
Looking forward to seeing how others experience it. Congrats on the launch! Best wishes and sending lots of wins :) @akoskm
Congrats on your first launch! Love the simplicity of One Task X—focusing on just one key task a day is such a powerful way to cut through the noise and get things done. The no-signup, no-install approach makes it even more accessible.
I am launching today and understand the huge effort! Wishing you a successful launch and great feedback.
One of the most simple, yet useful apps I have come across in recent times. One quick question. How do we handle a task that goes beyond a day? Split it into micro tasks? @akoskm
I like the concept, as I have a ton of various to do list and find triaging an issue. Tend to do what I feel like doing vs whats the priorities. Conceptually this makes total sense but wonder how you can integrate with current workflow as I already have several task management, notes, calendar apps that I rely on.
@cathnotey Thanks! That's a great question, and I'm open to suggestions. :) I also use Notion, for example, to record long thoughts or iterate on ideas, while I use One Task X more for daily tasks.

Will be possible to have it like "downloadable" app?

Its functionality is simpler than I expected. I would give it a try to see how effective it is. ;)

@focusaur go ahead and I'm excited to know what you think. The goal was to keep it simple and even simpler than that. Feel like I succeeded in it. 😄

Thank you Konsta!
Yup! With a little kid, it's usually the mornings where I can get in some work before the day starts, and I have to take advantage of that window. :)
Love the idea! Do you have a long term vision for it, or just having fun?

@milan_bhandari3 hey, I do! I'm using it as my daily driver and adding features as I see fit. :)

@robin_a_p it'll stay in Today until you complete it. How you handle it, that's up to you. Do you have any suggestions how could I handle it better?
