@ashwinl so true, Ashwin. We're lucky to have played a small role in the journeys of many founders (https://beondeck.com/outcomes) and hope to do so for many, many more. Productizing venture and entrepreneurship has become a bit of a catchphrase for us ;) lots more to come! Especially excited about the potential for the tool to help founders in specific sectors / spaces (e.g. deep tech) express their preferences and connect in a high-liquidity forum.

@denislav_jeliazkov appreciate the kind words! Our hopes are to reduce some of that loneliness for people thinking about taking the leap. Especially since one of the biggest limiting factors for cofounders is _timing_, we think having a curated group of people who are all actively searching is crucial - our goal is to go from sharing preferences → collaborating with potential cofounders in less than two weeks ✅

@richardpoelderl Appreciate the support, Richard! As part of the signup process, we ask cofounders if they have a preference for cofounders in the same area as them, whether they're agnostic (#remotefirst) or if they don't care. The more wide open someone's preferences, the more likely they are to receive more matches. The matches and suggestions we make are in accordance with the constraints users give us - it's really a design-your-own experience!

@richardpoelderl I'm curious how many people will be open to remote vs looking in their specific geo. 🤔

@chance_taken there’s also remote scoped to geos. Basically remote work but enable quarterly meetups from the get go. Eg for me this would be EU +-2h flight time. Basically the former Roman Empire if you will. I guess they knew what they were doing. 😅

@rishi_tripathy thanks! Although agnostic & don’t care sound like the same thing. I assume agnostic = #remotefirst = no HQ I’m wondering if same area means I’m also able to find people outside (but close to) EU, if that’s my location

@jacksonondeck 😂 sounds like a feature request! Though more seriously, experiments with features like that are likely worth exploring. Or rather, looking at the best practices that have bubbled up from the larger matchmaking / discovery platforms (which dating apps are one of the best examples of) and thinking about if any make sense for a cofounder context. It's wild how many times I've heard people cofounder searching compare it to actual dating or marriage.

@kensavage great question. Completely free to use. The larger goal of this project is to increase the number of startups that exist, but in a more concrete sense the goal is to create a curated & high signal experience for both the On Deck community and vetted external talent. High quality external talent makes the cofounder matching pool more robust, so it can be a big win for the existing On Deck community. Also, if an external person who joins this ends up hitting it off with an ODF or ODX (two On Deck) fellow, they can be considered for acceptance into ODF or ODX.
