@mxsawyer Not my best grammar or word choice. Meant to say: I am also interested in the intersection with Penny, which as you've said seems to intersect heavily with many parts of Olivia.
@mxsawyer Is there a similarity to Penny (and for that matter, any other financial assistant using a chat interface)? Yep, that's how product paradigms as ubiquitous as chat work. To try and completely reinvent obvious chat design patterns would have been to the detriment of the user experience.
When using the app, it becomes pretty obvious that there are a bunch of differences. Some of those differences are manifested in a different UI, but many of them are manifested in the set of features. The only true similarities I see to Penny are: it's a chat interface, primarily, and both use a female persona.
I can tell you that Penny was simply a competitor (among many others) that we looked at long after the design process was in full-motion. We'd already identified the main functionality and UX paradigms via a rigorous sketching, paper-prototyping, and wireframing process that I converted to interactive prototypes.
I'm happy to explain more, if people are curious!
@chrismeeks Thanks! I have no issues other than the brand distinguishing aspect (the logos are pretty similar) but other than that I understand! Currently sitting at #6014 in the queue and looking forward to eventually moving up!
Bam! Was just watching the Planet Of The Apps EP3 and your app just popped up here. Super cool product and congrats on the launch. Just added you guys to my Planet Of The Apps collection https://www.producthunt.com/@bin...
Thanks @charleyma. We have some exciting capabilities planned! In the coming weeks, Olivia will start helping users manage their day-to-day spending better by telling them how much they can safely spend daily. Shortly after that, she will start giving users challenges in various spend categories (e.g. eating out, groceries, mobile bill etc.) and help them complete the challenges by offering insights. Stay tuned!
PS: Charley, a big thank you to the Plaid team for your continued help and support!
Four people watched you on Planet of the Apps at my place last night @elisegraham and three downloaded it. Well done, though they all complained about their position in the que! Good Luck!
@elpocho Hey thanks for watching! We're working on getting people added to the app ASAP :) We're just doing that to make sure the AI doesn't get thrown off all at once by the major influx of people.
I'm still not convinced these are actually useful with preset chat prompts and the only company that I've seen do a good job at actually building a fully interactive chatbot is myKai. I'm having a hard time seeing the differences between this and Penny, outside of the design.
@alexcohenbirch Try the Safely Spend notifications and calendar view, if you haven't already. I find that to be a remarkably helpful feature that keeps me on track and is built for a spend-first generation that doesn't always do a great job at long-term planning.
@elisegraham Congrats on the launch! It's a shame the investors didn't see your vision. I thought it was an amazing product right from the start. Any idea when waitlist users will be able to start using it?
Hi, @chandnitrehan We're only launching on the US store at the moment. You probably have an AppStore from a different country and that's the reason is not showing for you, unfortunately. Thanks for the interest and I'm glad to help if you have any other questions :)
I have used the app but I haven't much of AI in it. I was expecting more like a personal assistant that will analyze my spendings automatically but it just another version of Mint.com.
Also, is this free? If so how do you guys plan to make money?
@elisegraham keep up the great work Elise I can see how genuine you are. I watched you closely on planet of the apps and was so proud of the way you carried yourself. You have champion DNA. The world needs Olivia AI. The product is absolutely a 'pain killer'
@bryan_dartout That's next on our list! We're iOS-focused now, but once we get the iOS nailed down, we'll start developing that shortly. We love Android users too!
@paulvantuyl Hahaha, touché, my friend. Since I was the voice behind it, we wanted something that was approachable and easy to pronounce in several languages. And since we're fans of John Mayer, we heard the song "Something Like Olivia," and we instantly knew it was it :)
Hi, @marty_jxz. Yes. Actually, students and young professionals are our main focus group which we can help the most. Thanks for asking and I'm glad to help if you have any other questions :)
