Hey Product Hunters! 👋

We're thrilled to introduce Novu Inbox - the open-source, fully customizable notification center component for React apps that was built for builders like you.

As builders ourselves, we know the pain of creating notification systems from scratch. That's why we built a drop-in solution that:
• Takes minutes to implement with our simple React component
• Offers complete customization of UI/UX to match your brand
• Provides real-time notifications with zero backend complexity
• Includes built-in notification preferences management
• Built in-digest engine for things like: "John +5 others left you a comment"

Check out our live demo to see how easily you can add a powerful notification center to your app.

Would love your feedback and questions in the comments!

Shout out to our friends at @Tinybird and @Bucket who are launching today aswell 🚀

Dima Grossman

@masump Currently, notifications can be digested in a time-based manner to provide a timely update without overburdening the user's email. Do you have some usecase examples for this?

flo merian

@dima_grossman thanks for the shout-out, Dima! although we're currently in the middle of a Battle Royale with folks at Tinybird — looking at you @cameron_archer — enjoy your launch day!!

Dima Grossman

@cameron_archer  @fmerian Hope it's not too dusty on your windshield 😈

Tomer Barnea

@dima_grossman  @cameron_archer  @fmerian, good luck to you all. May the best notification <Inbox /> win. 🏆🤣

Love this. Notification that everyone can use.

@aviatorscode2 Notifications should not be hard. They should be beautiful and simple!

George Djabarov

@aviatorscode2 Easy solution for complex use cases ✨

Will Woo

This sounds amazing! Can't wait to try it out in my next project. Love the idea of real-time notifications without the backend hassle. Great job!

@will_woo Thank you Will!

Emillien Paerce

@will_woo Thank you! We would love to see what you build :)

hmm, interesting approach to notifications. as someone who's hand-rolled these systems too many times, the 6-line implementation is appealing. open source is a plus. might be worth checking if the digest engine can handle custom grouping logic beyond the basic "+x others" pattern. could save some headaches on my current project.

Tomer Barnea

@stainlu it sure can, and comping up is a big improvement to this specific thing, to ensure ultimate ease of use, and flexibility when needed. Check out some of the upcoming about this.

Dima Grossman

Thank you@stainlu ! It was one of the main reasons to why we built Novu in the first place. Had to reinvent the wheel more than 3 times in our previous projects. Looking forward for your feedback!

Radek Gozdzialski

@stainlu that's great callout, and already on our roadmap. thanks!

Gal Tidhar

@stainlu Thanks for this great input!

💡 Bright idea

Congrats to the Novu team on launching Inbox by Novu! 🚀 At Amplication, we use Novu to manage notifications across our platform, and it has been a great solution for keeping users informed. We're excited to see this new component simplifying real-time notifications and will be happy to try out the new Inbox feature. Keep up the great work! 💪

💎 Pixel perfection

Novu Inbox looks like a must-have for any React app needing a seamless notification system. Congrats on the launch

Radek Gozdzialski

@dineshan_sithamparanathan It's honestly too easy to implement to ignore.

Alex Barashkov

Very exciting for this release. It's interesting to see how you transitioned from Notification infrastructure to Inbox infrastructure in terms of messaging. It makes total sense, and I'm pretty sure it has good potential.

Dima Grossman

@alex_barashkov we couldn't have done it without you and the team ❤️

Tamar Amoza

@alex_barashkov  Thank you Alex!

Samir Al-Battran
Launching soon!

This is exactly the kind of plug-and-play component that saves founders and devs so much time. Notifications are a pain to build from scratch, and this drops right in with minimal effort. Real-time updates and user preferences baked in? That’s a win. Thank you and congratulations!

Dima Grossman

@albattran Thank you!

Tamar Amoza

@albattran  🤩🤩

Tomer Barnea

@albattran Thanks Samir!! What are you building there, I see the launching soon badge :D

Jonas Urbonas

Novu Inbox seems like a perfect solution for developers looking to save time while building notification systems—love how easy it is to implement and customize! What are some common use cases you’ve seen for the notification digest feature?

Dima Grossman

Thank you@jonurbonas ! Digest is very common when unpredictable volume of triggers can happen and result in an email or another notification, for example:

  • Social interactions (comments, likes, etc..)

  • Status updates for things like watched projects, cards, issues

  • System based alerts (Elevated error rate, rate limiting)

  • etc...

Gonzague Dambricourt

I'm using Novu in my product @LogCentral.io and it is great! Dima and his team have been awesome

Dima Grossman

@gonzagued Thank you so much for the support ❤️

Tamar Amoza

@gonzagued  Thank you! That's great to hear :)

Jason Yu

This looks awesome! Notifications are one of those things every app needs, yet building them from scratch is a massive time sink. 🚀

Dima Grossman

Thank you@kui_jason !

Tomer Barnea

@kui_jason you are spot on! A quick question, from your experience, what is the biggest time time sink when building this in-house?

On Freund

This looks awesome! Can I customize this to my look and feel?

Pawan Jain

@on

Yes, pretty much everything can be customized, be it bell, notification item or color, branding etc.

Emillien Paerce

@joshua_lynch Keep us posted

Radek Gozdzialski

@joshua_lynch If you need web app notifications, you can't go wrong with Novu's Inbox. Highly customizable and your devs will love it.
