Each day, discover 5 new people from across the world. Listen to their audio interviews in a playlist/podcast format and message anyone that piques your interest!
Exciting concept, congrats on your launch!🚀 I have 2 comments/questions. First, I wish you'd made it a PWA, so I could reach that app from my laptop and easily install it to any of my devices if I wanted to. Second, why it is not a podcast by itself in the beginning? Can I access the content from Youtube or Spotify, if negative then why? You could've easily distributed the content and then create a helper platform for communicating guest profiles to listeners. Anyways good luck with the app, as a long-time podcast fan I sincerely hope it thrives! 🍀
@milkers Thanks Mustafa.
1) We are working on a web version. We also want to give the users a public podcast url that can be shared on any of their social media. I will reply here once it's out.
2) Some of the users profiles will be available as podcasts on Spotify - with their permission ofcourse. This will be one of our growth tactic. We are working on this.
I agree we could have measured user interest without an app - but the cost of building was low for us - 150 hours of joyful work.
Thanks again for the nice words :))
@mukesh Thanks for your sincere answers. I usually do not comment that much. This time I really liked the product and wanted it to be a real deal. I am sure you'll figure things out. Best 🚀
I have always been curious about other people and the stories from their lives. I would like to meet way more new people than I currently do - especially those who are from outside my usual circles(different income levels, cultures, religions, nationalities, genders etc) - and who might help me futher broaden my perspective. And I would like to do this with minimal effort.
I am a heavy podcast listener (during my hour long walk every day). Most podcasts have segments where they invite guests (people I don’t know) - and I always enjoy the introductory questions - especially when they are of a personal nature. Plus I find the podcast format very efficient because it is always a secondary task (to working out, commute, cleaning etc) - so it doesn’t compete with any of the other tasks in my life.
So I decided to build an app that will turn each person into a mini-podcast. And I asked my friend Anil to help me.
So far, we only have about 15 users (mostly from among our friends). The product hunt launch is the first time we are giving the app to people we don't know. We are both nervous and excited :))
You can discover the first 5 people without having to login. So please please please try out the app and share your thoughts - feedback, criticism or love.
This is super cool! Is there any algorithm linking peoples interests etc? More importantly though where did the name November come from? I kind of love it!
@aaronoleary Regarding the algorithms, yes. We are building the recommendation engine that will keep showing you more relevant people based on user data - whom you are listening to and how long. This will be an optional feature to the user.
In 2020, just before the pandemic, I was working on a decentralised social network(called December because it starts with Dece) that eventually became an audio dating app - (that never launched - long story). At that point, I also had this idea for an app where you meet new people and I thought if I ever make it, I will call it November (N for new).
This is a beautiful idea and I find the thought process that let you to it very interesting! I instantly installed the app but was bummed to see I need to enter my phone number to create an account. I’m not comfortable doing that as I’ve used my number to sign up for services in the past, only to be enrolled to unwanted promotional campaigns. I can change my email or use a burner address to sign up, but I cannot change my phone number :)
@anna_0x
Thanks for the valuable feedback Anna. And the nice words :))
The logic behind having only phone number login was to make it harder for anonymous users that might lead to unexpected bad behaviour in the initial community. We wanted this to be a safe space - since users will be sharing stories from their lives.
But I understand the concerns with the mobile number login (although we don't use it for anything other than authentication). But yes, tech companies haven't earned the trust in general given the history. So will look at figuring out a more elegant solution to prevent anonymous users.
Meanwhile, I can send you a temporary login. Let me know what's the best way to send this to you.

@mukesh thanks, I DM'd you on Twitter! I don’t know what a safe alternative to phone numbers would be but I’m sure many people are wary of giving their phone number to new apps that have not yet proven to be trustworthy.
@mukesh This is great. Fantastic idea to actual listen to others and their stories. I've installed the app and its pretty cool, as more and more people join this it would be pretty fun I believe. All the best !!
@mukesh Looking great so far! Think ill need to play around for a few days before i really get a feel for it, but i set up my profile and messaged someone!
Great idea to foster making personal connections on the internet!
I see that you need a lot of users for this concept to succeed. At the beginning, getting users on the platform is especially difficult because they don't see the point while the user base is still small. That's a viscous cycle. What's your strategy to get things going?
@alexander_eble I agree any social app will face the chicken egg problem. This is exactly the reason for incorporating the 5 people a day limit in the app design.
The idea is that - even with just 100 users on the app, the app will be able to keep its promise to any new user for at least 20 days - and if that promise is enough to attract 5 new users a day to the app - then it creates a cycle in which the user will forever find 5 new people each day.
@alexander_eble Thanks for pointing this out. We just pushed an update to ensure that from tomorrow onwards - you will see the same people again on your feed - only after you have run out of new people.
