Nintendo Labo — DIY creations for the Nintendo Switch

I'm a big fan of combining the physical and digital worlds 👏

Perfect timing. @suzywillow just bought me a Switch. 🙏🏼 Nintendo's on a tear this past year with the success of Switch and it's expansion to iOS/Android gaming (finally!).

This is why I love Nintendo. They've always thought of themselves more as a toy company and it shows in their games and consoles. Faster processors and better graphics are fine, but I always end up spending the most time with Nintendo consoles. They take risks and are willing to chase their imagination. Can't wait to try this out.

Really a big fan. It reminds me of Google Cardboard, and I think it's just the beginning for the Nintendo Switch. There's a lot of stuff they can do. For Young adults and kids too!

Man I love the approach with this product. It takes something so simple and NOT digital (cardboard) and allows you to morph it into something much more than that. It's like combining the future w/ the past and almost feels like you're recycling/making good use of resources. I dunno, just so many feels w/ this.

This looks so cool and fun. Nintendo have some big balls and they just make everyone feel like kids again. So cool! 🙌

I love the idea. Cardboard is a great material for the world we live in :) (use it a while, discard it).

I love that this gives a bit of a maker vibe without the need for tools and things that cut burn or scrape. Who needs plastic? Metal, schmetal! Love the creativity and flexibility

Very very nice project :) I remember when I was like 6 years old, daddy bought me a cassette for Commodore 64 with a software to simulate playing piano, and there was an accessory included with piano keys to put on the C64 keys. It actually "transformed" the computer into an electronic keyboard, the feeling was different when using it, and it was fun. So yes, of course cardboard objects can radically transform an experience. It makes me wish to design some objects/experiences for the Switch, though I'm not sure if it the platform will be open for others to design and offer Labo projects.

I love Nintendo for this! To come back to children, to unite real and technological in such a natural, fun, almost magical way.

Oh you crazy Nintendo, I love you. Can you imagine any big western company attempting to build something like this? I really can't. Takes some real balls.

Cheers to Nintendo for going with cardboard and foregoing the tons of plastic wasted during the Wii sports attachment era.

Another Nintendo product I will 1000% be buying. Only con for me was that I thought they were playing the intro to Runaway by Kanye in the vid. Might be the wrong demographic though, I understand why they made that decision

Using the physical world to engage with video games is something we've wanted from Nintento from the beginning. Looks like the've finally delivered. I love that they've chosen cardboard instead of plastic. This makes developing and expanding very inexpensive. This leads to a much more personal for the kids, as they are encouraged to colour it and make it their own. This inspires creativity, not only for the kids, but also for the game developers as well. Any smart gaming company will create something like this for their games, and this experience truly sets the nintendo switch apart from any other console. Well done Nintendo, you have my respect.

Nintendo is making big moves into exciting spaces. The switch lends itself to modularity so well!

I love this––been getting back into video games and this is a helpful catalyst.
