Night Eye is a powerful extension that enables dark mode on nearly any website. Instead of simply inverting colors, Night Eye analyses the page elements to enable the best dark mode possible.
Hey, thanks for hunting us! I’m Stan, one of the makers of Night Eye. We launched Night Eye a year ago with the single goal in mind - to provide the best dark mode experience on any website you visit.
In May 2018 we launched the Chrome version of Night Eye and continued with the development of the Firefox, Edge and Safari extensions.
We are proud of the journey so far and the fact that we can help you enjoy dark mode on nearly any website, using nearly any browser.
We’ve been talking to a lot of our users since day one and aim to offer them not only great dark mode experience, but also quick and friendly support. Listening and improving the software based on our user’s feedback has been the most fundamental and productive part of the journey. I tried a few different "night mode" extensions and this one worked the best on the most sites. Some of them changed all of the colors on the page where this one only changed what was necessary and kept the rest the same.
Probably the best extension on the market. It works fast and smooth. There isn't a site, that I cannot run in dark mode :) Guys, thanks for your extension.
Absolutely fantastic extension that I can no longer live without. It has eased the tension on my eyes significantly, and I have had no issues with pages displaying poorly.
Some of the websites I use do this natively, then there is Night Eye to fill in the gaps...
It just hurts when I'm not using a browser with a "global dark mode" and Night Eye does a terrific job at enabling that.
@michael_dnkr We launched a small feature called Deep integration that allows you to control the native dark modes on websites such as YouTube. Thanks for the kind words!
Night Eye is the best in the business for dark moding. The free one makes a bad job on some websites that I reverted to Night Eye. I'm prepared to pay them after I've tried it enough
Frankly, its the only Dark solution I've found that works on every web site with enough granularity to make it useful. My eyes are eternally grateful.
The one thing missing is the ability to whitelist a particular file extension, ie when loading a PDF, the PDF colour space gets inverted and i have to turn Night Eye off for a moment.
@markn We are grateful for using it! For the PDFs... it is a fight we still cannot win due to the technical limitations imposed by the browsers. We are simply allowed to invert the PDFs and that is it... Hopefully we will manage to pass through this limitation at some point.
I have been using this product for about a year now and really love it. The dark mode makes working at night easier with less eye strain. Plus websites look great. Highly recommend!
@dtz We do observe decrease in the performance on older PCs. Due to the way the extension works - instead of simply inverting colors, the algorithm analyses each page element color and decides wether to change it or not. This requires processing power and will make a difference on slower machines. We are doing our best to constantly optimise the process in order to lessen the effect on the computer.

Hey, thanks for the question! This is a really important topic for us and we have really clear policy. Night Eye does NOT read your info NOR records it. The only thing that is required for Night Eye to work properly is the page element colors that it analyses and converts. It doesn’t store this information anywhere, the analysis is done when you visit the website. The only information that Night Eye stores is your preferred settings for the filters levels, dark or normal mode for specific website and any other adjustment you made within the extension. All of this information is stored locally on you computer, not our servers. You can also see our privacy policy here - https://nighteye.app/privacy-pol...

There are couple of things on which we emphasize and put all our efforts. First and foremost is the algorithm that enables dark mode on a website. Instead of simply inverting colors, the extension analyses each page element color and decides whether to change it or not. This way the dark mode comes out smooth and consistent. The second part is the support we offer. We are doing our best to be available for all our users - whether it is to fix bugs, adjust not properly converted websites or simply help them use the extension in a more efficient way.
