Have been their users since the very beginning. Was very disappointed when they went away. Surprised they are back but also a bit annoyed. They are not handling it well. No notifications to past users. Have to visit product hunt to find out they are back. No incentive to join again. Not the way you should be treating your customers who stood by you thru thick and thin. Have since moved to Spark and not sure I’ll be coming back.
@ivor_kovic I definitely agree with you, I´m on the same situation, user since the very beginning and surprise on Product Hunt, they´re back. Shoul´ve handle it better.
@ivor_kovic Same - even before they were Newton. I actually moved over to Superhuman. Still a little nostalgic for Newton, but should have heard about its resurgence from them!
This is annoying as a past paying user, I love your app, I paid for it, I also stopped using it the moment you said that you were gonna issue refunds (never actually got refunded) and had to go and test 1000 apps just to find something I liked again and now you're back?
Don't get me wrong. I've loved Newton from day one, and was devastated when they shut down...
But seriously? They didn't even inform their past customers before relaunching? I know Newton was acquired after their horribly handled shutdown, but why should we trust this company again? They've proven time and time again that serving and communicating with customers isn't a priority, and this launch shows they still haven't learned that lesson. So again, why on earth should we trust you guys?
Also, get with the times and develop a dark mode already.
- Didn't like how they handled an issue I raised, very rude.
- Didn't like how they closed down at such short notice
- Rather annoyed after spending ages looking for a new email client that they came back so soon.
Totally agree with the short notice on closing and the quick turnaround. I've switched to Polymail and although I preferred Newton originally I'm reluctant to switch back. Even the sub-title of the re-launch blogpost feels weird: "This time we are aiming for the next orbit". So, one more year? Then shutdown again?
@bradungar Has Spark made it possible to NOT use threaded view? I remember reaching the conclusion that it is literally the perfect app for me, if it wasn't for that little super annoying thing. Just let me see my feed chronologically! 😃
I used to use it before renaming it, when it was free without the extra features which I don't care for.
Then they added a horrible orange banner telling you to upgrade to the paid functions which most didn't care about.
Finally they closed down all free apps and only allowed you to buy it in a subscription plan.
After that I forgot about them until I saw them here today.
Pros:
Nice looking.
Cons:
Way too expensive at 50 dollars PER YEAR.
Subscription model.
@joshuaarnao i mean yeah, but 1) just because everyone else does it doesn't make it cool and 2) most of the others aren't double-dipping by charging users $50 and then selling your info on top of it
@hickmanzackary Scheduled sending, emails are fetched in the cloud, great design, read receipts, cross platform consistency, amazing integrations with other platforms. I could go on.
I've used Newton since it used to be CloudMagic email. I've long loved the service and was devastated when they shut down. I was never able to find a great alternative, and had been using canary mail as my interim client. Nothing could have made me happier than to see my favorite email client back and available to use again! :D
Used this when it was CloudMagic and loved it. They lost me when they made the switch to Newton Mail and started charging so much. Still not interested. I guess it all worked out though, because I discovered that the Outlook app is surprisingly really good, which is where I stand now.
Uh-oh, if any email client was going to tempt me back away from Superhuman, it would be Newton.
Agree with some of the other comments that, as a past and paying user, I was a little surprised and disappointed to discover the return of Newton via PH and not directly - but if they can get their pricing right (and Superhuman's success suggests a paid-for email client is possible) then this could be the re-start of something great. 🚀
And a $50/year, definitely worth the price if you have a use for the Super Powers ⚡
@ch4rli_e Agreed. I've come to love Superhuman, but their ios app leaves much to be desired. CloudMagic/Newton was powerful and well-rounded; considering the move back!
Wow!! I’m big Newton Fan and was customer! They cancelled my account only some months ago, because of shut-down!! How could they stand up again so fast? New owners? Same owner with fresh money?
Please don’t change Newton. Is was great!! Best Email App existing for destruction free Email reading and writing.
Best interface up to now. I checked all available a Email software and Newton was not cheap, but excellent. Easy to control with some keyboard shortcuts and really very destruction free.
Congratulations for being back. I am really happy to read that!
Weird not one person here mentionD that a completely different company (Essential the phone maker) purchased Newton and brought them back. Very odd move by Essential IMO given their own financial struggles.
Thank the Gods for whoever brought this back. I have tried to cobble together a better solution, and there's nothing as good as Newton. Let's hope they will continue to develop and improve the product.

The best email app so far
Pros:Cross platform Simple UI Read Receipts Clean Design
Cons:None so far!! Totally worth it's price
There is no competitor that matches the overall UI/UX and features. 2nd best would be polymail - but with a huge distance.
Pros:The best email experience on the market for people using multi devices. Totally worth the price!
Cons:There are none!
