Hi Product Hunt community 👋

Today, we're introducing the next evolution of Needle. A thoughtful solution to a problem we've all experienced: the disconnect between our knowledge and our tools.

While searching across apps is valuable, we realized something important was missing... the ability to act on what you find. With Needle Knowledge Threader, we've built a bridge between discovery and action.

In a workspace fragmented across Google Drive, Slack, Notion, and Jira, Needle now provides a unified command center. Our new write capabilities allow you to not just find information, but to update, transform, and direct it precisely where it needs to go; All from a single conversation.

What makes Needle Knowledge Threader different:

🔄 Two-way connection: Needle doesn't just read from your apps. It can write back to them, creating a complete information loop.

🧠 Chat-powered automation: Build and execute mini-automations directly in your chat interface. No complex setup required. Just describe what you need, and Needle handles the rest.

💡 Agentic workflows: Initiate sophisticated multi-step processes across your tools with simple conversational commands. Needle works autonomously to complete tasks that would normally require multiple manual steps.

We built this because we needed it ourselves. A quiet but powerful tool that reduces the friction between knowledge and action. No more context switching, just seamless work that adapts to how you communicate naturally.

We're grateful for the opportunity to share Needle with the Product Hunt community and look forward to your thoughts on how we can make it even better.

With appreciation,

The Needle Team - @oeken , @bugraaydingoz , @jaredpolivka & @jan_heimes

Also, shoutout to @rohanrecommends for being a great hunter!

Jonas Urbonas

Needle Knowledge Threader seems like a great solution for tackling the friction between finding info and acting on it—no more jumping between apps! The ability to update and transform data directly within your tools is a huge time-saver. How customizable are the workflows for different teams, and can it integrate with less common tools besides the big names like Google Drive and Slack?

Jared Polivka

@jonurbonas
Yes, we also offer other tools (we calls these "connectors"... as in a connector to a data source).

We also offer Dropbox, Jira, Confluence, Notion, Airtable, Github, Microsoft Outlook, a web connector (i.e. URLs), and we even offer a local connector for local files that are not in the cloud.

We will be adding new connectors coming up. Do you have any requests?
Currently on our to add list is: HubSpot, Zendesk, Microsoft OneDrive, Microsoft Teams and Sharepoint.

Let us know if there are other connectors you want, or if you have product feedback or other feature requests.

Thanks Jonas :)

Jan Heimes

@jonurbonas Something to mention is also that we are having an API, so theoretically, you can also build your own connector and stream the data via our API to Needle hence making it searchable.

Best of luck to you & the team!!

Amazing work with Needle Knowledge Threader! The ability to seamlessly write back to apps and automate tasks within chat is a total game-changer for productivity.

Jan Heimes

Hi@marianna_tymchuk , thanks a lot. We appreciate that you find it useful.

Simay

Cool one! Can I build mini automations with this between Gmail and Notion?

Jan Heimes

@simay_krb Yes exactly, you can do that very well. One of the ideal use cases.

Jun Shen

A unified interface is a game changer for remote teams! 👍

Jared Polivka

@shenjun thank you for the kind words!

Onur Eken

@shenjun You don't search for information, you just Needle it :)

Roman Burdyga

Onur Eken

@roman_burdyga Thank you! We envision this will be the normal working mode for everyone.

Jan Heimes

@roman_burdyga  Thanks for the comment! Yes, we are happy to let people save time and get more things done in less time with the aid of Needle.

Mike McCarthy

Congrats on the launch! Any plans to support MCP?

Jan Heimes

Hi @mike_mccarthy1 we're always keeping an eye on cutting-edge developments in the market. We actually integrated Needle into MCP last year, before it gained its current popularity.

We're proud to be one of the official MCP integrations.

You can find us listed under the official integrations here: https://github.com/modelcontextprotocol/servers

And here's our repository: https://github.com/needle-ai/needle-mcp

I would like to tell you want I think, and I'm perhaps misunderstanding, but I thought I was given access to Needle for free so I could test it out. It seems that 'free' is for 7 days, and I can't test anything out, not even adding Gmail without giving over my credit card details? Hopefully, this is wrong, let me know.

Desmond

Needle looks like the ultimate productivity hack for app-fatigued teams!

Jared Polivka

@desmond_ren1 that's a great way to describe a symptom of the problem: app fatigue. Thanks for the kind words Desmond :)

Arian Hanifi
Cool! Are you guys using opensource MCP servers or have you built your own integrations?
Jan Heimes

Hi there, we develop our own specialized integrations based on our business needs. While MCP serves different purposes, Needle focuses on enterprise and organization-level solutions.

Our approach is similar to Notion's product strategy - creating an intuitive tool that individual users love, which naturally expands into team and company-wide adoption as they recognize its value in their professional environments.

Ksenia Meshkova

Trisha Anand Singh

This sounds like a much-needed fix for the chaos of juggling multiple apps. Finding information is one thing, but being able to act instantly? That's a huge leap forward. The two-way connection sounds incredibly useful. How does needle handle permissions when writing back to different tools? Can users fine tune what it can update and where?
