Nama is a messaging platform that allows you to learn a language while chatting with your friends and family. Supports over 100 languages. Also, see the Nama Keyboard (http://namachat.com/keyboard.html).
@html5cat That's an excellent question. We're currently evaluating translation quality using the BLEU benchmark, across a wide variety of open source parallel corpus datasets.
I've found that texting my family and relatives in Russian actually improved my Russian, so it's cool to see that concept implemented more broadly! Especially given the low barrier to entry of texting, particularly for people with social anxiety.
The auto-translating to different languages feature sounds like it would help when you don't have a partner to practice with or are too anxious to try! Reminds me of the method of changing your device and app settings to a different language to practice reading.
Patiently awaiting the Android app!
Congratulations ?makers on shipping Nama! I know how hard you've all worked on it so it's such a joy to see it live on PH.
Thanks for allowing me to be part of the beta and i'm super excited to see where this goes! 🚀🎉
I'm super excited to try this. I tried to learn French from Youtube and found it was useless when I travelled and couldn't converse in French. There's something different about learning a language and conversing in it. And I'm excited to see if this app solves it.
