Clever idea. I was concerned about ownership, but this statement is helpful: We will choose our favourite idea from a shortlist of 10 entries then develop and launch the MVP within 2 weeks. We will sign NDA and contract to protect your ownership Would like to understand more about the risks here and ownership though... like, if my idea were to be chosen, I get to keep all assets, source code, etc?
Oleg Kalyta
Hi @chrismessina! Thank you for the question. We do not pretend to any ownership rights - code/assets/intellectual rights are all yours. I can't see possible risks for you. Our motivation is to create a useful app and show what we can do in just 2 weeks.
Ihor Stefurak
These guys crushing it. I hope to see something like MVP-Challenge with hundred of teams around the world. Maybe it can be the next Maker Festival @rrhoover?
Shekhar K. Sharma
Well, how will you keep track of all the documents and contracts that you will create during this challenge? Maybe I can help you. You build my product, and I let you have an all-time access? - 🤞✌️ Submitted my idea - https://mvp-challenge.com/idea/L... Also on the upcoming - https://www.producthunt.com/upco...
Oleg Kalyta
@shekhardesigner we will sign NDA & contract only with the winner. Before we start working on the project. So there are not so many documents :) thanks for sharing your project.
Erin Ben
I would add some notes about what it your motivation, I'm sure that your intentions are clean but it looks a bit suspicious. Also - NDA should be signed *before* people submit their ideas. There is also a risk that the NDA won't be valid in your territory (Ukraine) due to local laws, I mean - NDA is a deed / agreement and is bound by the laws of the state it is signed in. I'm not sure it could be enforced on overseas people
Oleg Kalyta
@erin_ben Thank you for the comment, Erin. To win the challenge, the author has to get as many likes & shares of own idea as possible. So idea (shortly) will be published on the website with all visitors. https://mvp-challenge.com/idea/M... You have to describe the project, target audience and how people solve this issue now. We are not asking to describe the unfair advantages or another secret ingredient. That's why we sign NDA and contract AFTER the winner will be chosen.
Erin Ben
@oleg_kalyta it means that ideas submitted and not winning, are not covered... it would prevent serious people from sharing their ideas. see the comment below me.
Oleg Kalyta
@erin_ben There are always people afraid to share their ideas with the world. There is no way for us to make it completely confidential, as the main term of the challenge is to share the ideas with others and check whether people like it or not. All we can do - is to guarantee full security and safety from our side. That's why we are ready to sign contracts and prepare custom NDA that will be valid both in Ukraine and in the country of idea owner.
Erin Ben
@oleg_kalyta what you could do, this is just a suggestion ok, I'm just trying to help. I'm sure you are super professional and can build (almost) any MVP within 2 weeks. I would add terms and conditions which say that all information submitted is confidential and will not be disclosed etc. I would add this before people submit their ideas and not just for the selected "winners" otherwise, there is no sense for your business process. Good luck
Oleg Kalyta
@erin_ben great suggestion, thank you :)
Olivier
Great initiative. Could you just be more precise in term of the value of the "points"? These points will create the shortlist, then you'll finally choose based on your interest? Thanks a lot and again congrats for this project!
Oleg Kalyta
@opourquier you are totally right: points gonna qualify top 10 ideas 💡. Then we will choose 1 and implement it. We use AddThis’s api to get precise number of shares across all social networks. There is some delay in results. Plan to show points opposite each idea in the list tomorrow ✍️
Oleg Kalyta
Hi Chris! Thank you for the question. We do not pretend to any ownership rights - code/assets/intellectual rights are all yours. I can't see possible risks for you. Our motivation is to create a useful app and show what we can do in just 2 weeks.
WolfWave
@oleg_kalyta whats the business model here? how do you guys get paid?
Oleg Kalyta
@wolfwave we do not expect to be paid for this challenge. We believe in "pay it forward" attitude. And as we have some free time before the next project want to make something useful for the community. Our global intention is to be an example for others and involve companies which can help budding startupers who deserve it.
Bryce York
My bet is to demonstrate to potential clients how much they can achieve in just 2 weeks. @oleg_kalyta @wolfwave
Shekhar K. Sharma

Hope you guys will win the crowd among many skepticism!

Pros:

Exactly what I needed. I have hired a designer to do UX for my prototype and Engineering team was next target.

Cons:

Just bit skeptical about the implementation and two weeks duration.

Oleg Kalyta
@shekhardesigner thanks for the feedback. This is true, 2 weeks may be not enough to develop a detailed MVP. But it may be enough to create a workable solution to test the main hypothesis and move forward.
Shekhar K. Sharma
@oleg_kalyta Do you have a leaderboards?
Shekhar K. Sharma
Just after a day of being a hit, it is turning out to be a scam. Got a email from them saying - "We simplified the counting process. Now we don't count likes, only shares matter." Also, earlier - it was 1 share = 8 points, now 1 share = 1 point Likes doesnt matter anymore. Here is my prediction for tomorrow: We built it, we own majority or we make it open source. Makeup your mind makers.
Amarens
Love the idea, just submitted my project. Do I understand correctly that the time to gather shares is until the 16th, after which you will choose one of the projects from the top 10?
Olivier
@amarenselise Points gonna qualify top 10 ideas 💡, until the 16th. Then they will choose 1 and implement it.

Love the idea. To be a good MVP, suggest to define upfront hypotheses that the startup needs to validate in market to understand viability. Business, customer hypotheses... Then build the MVP around these. This way, it's more than just a working prototype but actually helps to validate market viability of the idea. A worksheet like MVP Canvas can help https://www.5dvision.com/docs/mvp/
Oleg Kalyta
@vzanini thanks for suggestion. I like to use Canvas too. Also I winner do not mind using customer development interviews it would be awesome!
Tufiq Zaria
Great idea :) i just submitted an idea application: https://mvp-challenge.com/idea/C....
Lachlan Kirkwood
Great way to accelerate lean startups! Love the value you're adding to the maker community 🙌
Oleg Kalyta
@lachlankirkwood Thanks! Hope other companies/teams will also join the challenge :)
Tatiana Kozubniak
@lyondhur Shortlist consists of 10 the most popular in socials ideas so that we can see what is on demand and what people like. But when the shortlist is formed at the end of the week, we will choose the most promising idea ourselves. So the chances that we will work on something poor or nonsensical are very low. Thanks for the reply :)
Lyondhür Picciarelli
@tatiana_kozubniak Got you. May I have my idea removed then please? I no longer wish to participate. Kindly let me know when you do? Much appreciated. It's #71 - https://mvp-challenge.com/idea/N... Cheers.
Oleg Kalyta
Update: we got over 65 submitted ideas and counting 😍😍
Lyondhür Picciarelli
@oleg_kalyta have you guys made your pick or is there still time for one more? #sent
Oleg Kalyta
@lyondhur we collect ideas till 16 June. Feel free to submit & share your idea in socials to get into the shortlist!
Lyondhür Picciarelli
@oleg_kalyta cheers for the quick reply mate. So, is the shortlist based on social shares and clicks or the merit of the idea itself? Meaning: a super popular but poor or perhaps even nonsensical an idea could win all your time and building effort, based on how many clicks it has had? If that would be the case, how could I remove my idea then please? Best cheers. PS: selection metrics apart, I think this is a terrific endeavour.
Lyondhür Picciarelli
Hey @oleg_kalyta, I got a response by Tatiana Kozubniak, but it seems she has deleted her comment (https://imgur.com/j5DJUjr). Could I please have my idea removed from the challenge? It's the #71 - https://mvp-challenge.com/idea/N... - I no longer wish to participate. Could you kindly let me know when you do? Cheers mate. Much Appreciated.

Submitted Interactly :-)
Hunter Becton
@danielkempe I like the idea. I was pondering a similar concept for my tutorials. It would be nice to have a pick-your-own path approach to educational content. I can also see it applying to a lot of other things like sales demos.
Daniel Kempe
Yes! I’ve already done some designing. Would be a really useful app for lots of people. @hunterbecton
theBliz
Is there any public list of projects uploaded?
Oleg Kalyta
