Musa - A self-care dragon to help reduce PMS and cramps

byā€¢

Stress and hormones? The most toxic relationship. That's why 80% of people with cycles deal with cramps and PMS (mood swings and anxiety before period). We turn self-care into a game you want to play to help you balance hormones and ditch the monthly struggle.

Hello wellness enthusiasts and dragon fans on Product Hunt! šŸ‰

We're excited to launch Musa, a self-care dragon that is so cool it makes anyone wish they had a period! (Seriously, thatā€™s the most common reaction we get from people who donā€™t menstruate. šŸ˜).

Why Musa?

While building my last company, I got an autoimmune disease on my thyroid from excessive stress. Every month, PMS hit like a truckā€”crippling anxiety, mood swings, and exhaustion, before my period and brutal cramps once my period arrived. I was even misdiagnosed with depression when, in reality, hormonal imbalances caused by stress were the real culprit.

šŸ˜ High stress = worse PMS and cramps

I wasn't alone. Over 80% of people with cycles suffer cramps and PMS (premenstrual syndrome), which shows up as anxiety, mood swings and low energy once a month. It is common, but it is NOT normal, itā€™s a sign that your hormones are out of balance. And one of the biggest disruptors? Cortisol, the stress hormone. More stress = worse PMS and cramps.

šŸ§  Changing habits is hard, motivation fades away quickly

Did you know that for people with cycles, brain chemistry shifts up to 25% every month? Our motivation (dopamine and serotonin) levels peak around ovulation, and then quickly drop. That's why daily routines just don't work, because you are not the same person everyday of the month. Staying consistent with self-care feels impossible when your motivation is constantly fluctuating.

šŸ’Ž The solution: A self-care game to motivate you in every phase of the cycle

We turned self-care into a game that is synced to your cycle. You get an adorable baby dragon that only grows when you complete your daily self-care exercise. Plus, Musaā€™s Hormonscope (backed by scientific research) predicts your mood and energy for the day, with personalized tips for workouts, food, and mental well-beingā€”all tailored to your cycle.

šŸ¤© It works!

I was able to almost completely reverse my thyroid disease by syncing my habits to my cycleā€”but it took an insane amount of effort. Musa makes it 10x easier by keeping you engaged and motivated without the burnout. In our closed beta with thousands of users, over 60% of users use the app daily, and 75% build a self-care habit longer than 4 months.

šŸ”’Data privacy is our obsession, feel free to use anonymously with Guest Mode

We take data security seriously. Your personal info (name, email) is stored separately from your cycle data, so they canā€™t be linked. We use bank-grade encryption, offer Guest Mode (use the app anonymously without email), and let you delete your data instantlyā€”no waiting, no recovery, no exceptions.

šŸ‘‰ Know someone with a cycle? Share Musa with them!
Weā€™d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and dragon name ideas. šŸš€

Shivam Singh

This is such a refreshing take on self-care. Most cycle-tracking apps just give data, but Musa actually helps build habits in a way that feels fun and natural. Love how it acknowledges that motivation isnā€™t the same every day, because thatā€™s so real. And the dragon thing is genius. Who wouldnā€™t want a little creature to grow with them!

Congrats on the launch!

Best wishes and sending lots of wins to the team :) @pamevls_

@liz_vazquez gracias Liz!!!!

As someone who's been following developments in the FemTech space, I have to say Musa is a breakthrough in how we approach hormone health management.

The statistics are stark - 80% of people dealing with PMS and cramps - yet most solutions out there feel clinical, dry, and honestly kind of depressing to use. Who wants another sterile medical app that reminds you of discomfort? This is where Musa brilliantly breaks the mold.

The dragon companion concept is honestly inspired. By transforming self-care into an engaging game, you're addressing one of the biggest challenges in health tech: consistent user engagement. It's not just about tracking symptoms anymore; it's about building a relationship with your digital companion who helps you through the journey.

What really stands out is how you've recognized the deep connection between stress and hormonal health. Most apps focus solely on tracking, but Musa seems to understand that managing hormonal health is a holistic experience that includes emotional wellbeing. The gamification aspect doesn't feel forced - it feels like a natural way to make self-care something to look forward to rather than dread.

The free tier is also a meaningful choice. Hormone health shouldn't be a luxury, and making this accessible to everyone shows real commitment to impact over immediate profit. This kind of inclusive thinking is exactly what the FemTech industry needs more of.

Seeing this shoot to #1 Day Rank with a perfect 5/5 rating isn't surprising - it's addressing a universal need in a completely fresh way. The large, diverse team behind this clearly brought multiple perspectives to create something comprehensive yet approachable.

Looking forward to seeing how this evolves. You're not just building another health app - you're reimagining how we approach hormone health management altogether. This could be a game-changer for millions who struggle with PMS and cramps monthly.

Fantastic work, team! This is the kind of innovation that makes technology truly meaningful. šŸ‰āœØ

Pamela Valdes

@xi_z wooow, Xi! Thanks so much for this comment. Yes, we really feel like the deepest pain of our users is not tracking, it's feeling like they're in hell once a month. That's what we are trying to solve :)

Thanks for your support!!!

Aishwarya Lohi

What a cute dragon! Made me curious to check it out. But all bodies are different. I struggle with finding the best way to adapt my workout routine based on my cycle. Does the app learn over time by tracking my habits and give the users personalised recommendations?

Pamela Valdes

@aishwaryalohi yes! The app learns from your symptoms and adapts to your unnique patterns!

Salvador Betancourt-RamĆrez

Love seeing innovations like Musa that focus on women's health and empowerment. Kudos to the team for addressing such an important aspect of women's lives with creativity and care. I'm trying to get my girlfriend to use it - she's still exploring other apps, but I'm hopeful she'll eventually use and love Musa

Pamela Valdes

@cchabei thank you so much, Salvador! We would love to get her feedback!!

Helle Jeppsson

I love Musa- the best tool for understanding your cycles šŸ”šŸ”šŸ”šŸ”
