I've known Josh since the Superawesome days, so was incredibly interested to learn about what he was building. As someone who takes a lot of notes and shares a *lot* of articles and content with different people - the idea of being able to aggregate all of that into one platform was compelling. When you layered in the spaced repetition and tech that the team are working on to help you remember and retain more of that knowledge, it became an irresistible proposition. I'm delighted that we were able to invest via The Fund. I've been testing the product for several months now - we used it to great effect with the most recent Techstars London batch, and I'm excited to see it grow and scale from here. To Josh and the team - what's been the biggest thing you've learned about how users engage with the product over the last few months of the beta, and what features are you most excited for people to test out now that it's live?
Joshua Wöhle
@eamonncarey Thanks for "hunting" this -- excited to see how people will use this :) We've learned a lot of the last few months, but some of the biggest things we found are: 1. When people discover how Mindstone allows you to *highlight* on any piece of online content, they start to understand how the app can really help them in the long run. 2. It took us a while to get to our clear value proposition: helping people learn faster & remembering more of what they read. It seems that's the part that resonates, which is why we prioritised the "remember" feature, automatically applying spaced repetition (and optimising your retention) to things you want to remember.

I have been an early user of MindStone and it gets better and better each week. I use it with one of my networks to share data on Covid19 tests and vaccines across 20 countries and its essential in this very noisy, very changeable environment to be able to cut through the noise and find the clear crisp learning highlights. Strongly recommend it!
Joshua Wöhle
@colincapabilitybrown Thanks for the support Colin, appreciated as always :)

I couldn't have dreamt of a better team to build what our society sorely needs: a solution to help you take ownership of your learning. We're still at the start of our journey, and I look forward to keeping developing Mindstone around learner needs.

Mindstone has quickly become integral to the way I manage and curate content I find on the internet. Now I've found it, I couldn't live without it.
Joshua Wöhle
@beaumool Thanks for the support Jamie, hope we can improve on that over time :)

I share a lot of articles and content with portfolio companies and others. This allows me to create specific libraries, annotate the text, add highlights and more. What's really interesting is how it then takes those highlights and annotations and helps people to remember the critical parts of the article. I'm sure many folks reading this have read something, thought it was incredibly interesting and valuable and resolved to come back to it again - before forgetting about it entirely. With Mindstone, I can remind myself, and their algorithms can remind me of what I've been reading and what's the part I should remember - and I can share exactly the same thing with friends, colleagues, portfolio founders, students and others.

I can't say enough good things about the product that the team is building at Mindstone. While there are quite a few tools out there to track and create reading lists, none has social built in in such a smooth and effective way. The ability to annotate, share and interact on various types of content is unparralleled and allows our team to uniquely collaborate and improve learning outcomes. The team iterates really fast and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for Mindstone
Joshua Wöhle
@thomas_tdj1 Lots more where that came from indeed and hopefully we can iterate fast enough :)

I always want to become better, learning as much as I can on a daily basis. When Josh told me about Mindstone it aimed to do just that. His vision of what we can build for people who want to learn on a continuous basis was super exciting. I have been using the product with my team for building our internal learning tools. Its a great place to keep content that you know you want to go back to and build upon. Its early days for Mindstone but this can change the way we continue to develop ourselves. I see it as a cross between a productivity tool and and education tool as it does both for me.
Joshua Wöhle
@mattias_ljungman It's great to have you on board Mattias -- so much more to come to deliver on the promise, but we're hoping this is a good start :)

Are you spending a lot of time reading, watching, listening to great content on the web, while feeling that you’re getting too little learning out of all that time and effort? Of course you do: we all do. This is the problem Mindstone is fixing: turning web-time into real, durable learning pathways. I’ve been trying all kind of other products – Pocket to Evernote, Instapaper to Hypothes.is – and nothing has been as helpful as Mindstone: and we’re just seeing the beginning of it. The team at Zanichelli Venture (full disclosure: we invested in Mindstone) is using it daily to keep track collaboratively of everything we learn about the edtech (our sector) landscape.
Joshua Wöhle
@enrico_poli Spot on Enrico and thanks for the support. We have our work cut out for us, but will be iterating fast to get there :)
Melody Lang
@enrico_poli Thank you for your support and the time you take to give us such detailed feedback, it’s thanks to power users like yourself that we can iterate at the speed of light :)

In a world of so many failed note taking and learning businesses, it is great to see such a mature and intuitive product. Having only been around for a short time I can't wait to see how it evolves and what new features it will have!
Joshua Wöhle
@mario_barosevcic Lots ahead of us for sure, but hopefully this is a good start. Thanks for the support :)

I love the intentional approach Mindstone brings to curating documents. Something that I always felt was missing from products like Pocket and Evernote. Why did I save this? What's important/interesting about it? What does it relate to that I'm working on? It's a product that will get more and more useful over time.
Joshua Wöhle
@chrispointon I've personally been a long-term user of both of the products you mention indeed and some of what we're building comes out of the same frustration :)
Tony Parkin
I have been using this product since it was an MVP with growth aspirations... and new features appeared almost every week. Each additional feature arising from feedback from users, as is generally the case with best of breed products. It does all those things that you need when researching and curating a project, and organises your URLs, papers, PDFs etc them quickly into an online collection that is easy to manage, reread, annotate and remember. Though having said that, I bet they continue add even more things that I didn't even realise I needed till they did so!
Joshua Wöhle
@tonyparkin Great to have you test the product from various angles and really appreciate the feedback. We have a LOT more to come, you can be sure of that :)
Melody Lang
@tonyparkin thank you ever so much for your valuable feedback along the way 🙏🏻 To be continued... :)
Niki Albon
Such a fantastic product idea, I wish I had this for my degree! I can't wait to turn the internet into my own personal textbook (and make notes all over it!!) Great work @joshua_wohle
Joshua Wöhle
@joshua_wohle @niki_albon Thanks for the support Niki :)

OMG this looks so well put-together! Is there any video tutorial/intro for us to check out?
Joshua Wöhle
@alexandra_m_co_e absolutely. There are a few things you can do to get introduced - an onboarding process you can go through by simply signing-up (which walks you through the platform capabilities). - once you're signed-up there are a few videos in the help menu (bottom left of your screen) that showcase the features 1-1 - It's not the best, but you can have a look at this quick overview video as well if you don't have time for the 2 above methods: https://drive.google.com/file/d/...

Josh, Melody and the team- congrats! It's come a long way since the early testing days and it's so great to see it launch. I really need help keeping all the things I read in a way I can properly digest them. Can't wait for all the goodies to come too.
Joshua Wöhle
@masseily Working on it for sure! Thanks for the support :)
Melody Lang
@masseily Thank you for your precious advice along the way :)

I've been using Mindstone for a couple of months and it really made a difference on how I organise and share my thoughts. It's an outstanding product with a UX that is truly focused on the learner. Honestly, I hadn't found a B2C educational product in the market like this until I tried Mindstone. Looking forward to seeing what's coming up!
