Chat with AI to build for the web, and ship faster. Go from prompt to prototypes in seconds. Iterate on a real app in real-time. Own your code, with no lock-in. Integrate with workflows developers love. One-click deploy to production.
Hello Product Hunt!
Anton here, creator of the original open source gpt-engineer (different from this).
Last year, just a month into development of we were surprise hunted and made #1 Product of the day & week. We added an ‘alpha’ label to GPT Engineer and were completely energized by the shared interest in what we’re building - an AI Engineer which enables anyone to build apps and ship 10x faster.
Over the past months tens of thousands of users signed up, and we personally onboarded hundreds - relentlessly iterating.
We’ve made leaps in stability & reliability. Generating a new front-end takes on average 15 seconds, to go from prompt to prototype. Edits take seconds — quick enough to stay in flow while iterating towards a viable product. Errors can be fixed by AI. Deploying takes a single click.
Now - founders, CTOs, product engineers, and maintainers of internal tools are able to ship faster than ever. GPT Engineer excels at building front-end, syncs 2-way with GitHub (so you can collaborate at source, own your code) and also can automatically integrate with Supabase to build full-stack web apps.
With that, we’re graduating from ‘alpha’ to ‘beta’. We have a waitlist, but we’d love to fast track Product Hunters who match the descriptions above. We’d love to have you onboard to help shape the future of development, and pave the way to an AI engineer which enables anyone to create software.

@antonosika Would love to try it out! As a non-dev founder I find this really interesting. Currently using Cursor + Claude to automate lots of daily tasks.
@antonosika@patrik_karlsson3 Hey @patrik_karlsson3, thanks for your comment. The workflow you described is becoming increasingly popular. What would you like to build with GPT Engineer, and we can prioritize your access?
This product allows so much creativity — I made a little personal website in like an hour (this was mostly 20x creative iterations to try different ideas!)

Congrats on the launch! How would you say this compares to Cheat Layer's open source Live Mode?

A few interesting features:
Instant live Previews before chatGPT launched last year
Unlimited websites
Ideogram integration for state-of-the-art professional image generation
Automates setting up stripe subscriptions, Supabase auth logins, and deploying to Vercel from end to end
If you can improve it, please feel free to submit a PR: https://github.com/rohanarun/Ope...
@rohan_arun1 Thanks for sharing. I have to be honest - I'm not familiar with this product enough to make a meaningful comparison. But I will def take a look.
Thanks for your support!
@vibor_cipan thanks no problem I understand. I'm just hoping for a response within 5 months because he still hasn't responded since march haha. I appreciate it very much and good luck on the launch!
Got access a few weeks ago and can really understand the hype. The iteration speed is extraordinary making it addictive to go beyond simple MVPs.
Can highly recommend giving it a try!
@johan_torssell awesome that you are saying that - we literally commented yesterday how it feels addictive and magical at moments. Thanks for your support and happy building with GPT Engineer.
Very smooth experience! As a backend engineer it always takes me days to code up a website. For simple demos / web applications gptengineer.app has saved me a lot of time.
Also really like the flawless integration with GitHub to keep track of the project's status.
@patrick_von_platen we love getting feedback from engineers, thanks for sharing! Since we primarily focused on building UIs in this first pages of our journey, it was pretty awesome to see backend engineers using GPT Engineer to build UIs around their backends and APIs quickly. We will look into supporting even more of those scenarios in the future.
@vibor_cipan Not sure yet, probably start with something simple to see how well it works. Have a marketing channel idea but I need to do market research to check existing services.
Super excited to give this a try. For me, the toughest hurdle when starting to work on a new project is getting the basic structure in place to further iterate on, so this will definitely come in handy. Love the stack too <3
It's really impressive! The speed to bring new ideas out to life is amazing. And I love the concept of communicating with "it" and see it react to continuous feedback throughout the process.
@hlandgren It's cool that you mention this communication aspect. I sometimes even say that we are now in the ear of human-computer co-creation, not just interaction, and I think GPT Engineer does that pretty well.
Thanks for your kind words and support!
Can wait to get my hands dirty on this next-level AI tool! We focus on internal tools for mid-size companies and would love to try gptengineer to develop an internal tool or hotel employee's management like internal notifications, schedule optimization, day offs setup, maintenance schedule and employee setting, etc
If it works, this could change the nocode app development industry! Awesome job!
@jandru_ This sounds like an interesting idea to me. Are you already on our waitlist? If yes, just let us know, we can fast track you so you can try it out and share your feedbacl.
From the website, this looks very nice. How is this different from Cursor though? I remember, I had tried using it a couple of months ago, but didn't really take to it. Similarly, curious about GPT engineer before I try it out.
@mehul_kaushik with Cursor you need to have a local development environment. With GPT Engineer the full development environment is hosted by us which means that while you can clone the repo and iterate on it locally, you don't have to. You can build and deploy fully working apps only using Chat.
@krz_malinowski I totally understand your point, but the cool thing is that this amount is replenished daily, and you can get 100 credits with the PRO plan. But here's the thing: we are listening to feedback, and that also applies to feedback related to pricing plans and options.
Thanks for the feedback and support, feel free to share more with the team!
Hey Anton,
How quickly can someone who's not a professional developer get up to speed with using gptengineer.app effectively?
For more complex applications, how does it handle things like state management or API integrations?
Congrats on the launch!
@kyrylosilin you don't need to be a developer at all, no coding needed unless you want to. It typically uses useState for state management but you can tell it to use zustand for example if you want. As long as the API doesn't have any cors restrictions you can just tell the AI how to use it and it will work.
Super nice to see this in beta! It's so much better than the alpha and it's crazy that it can do things like an interactive mandelbrot set in <1 minute, which I think no human could beat 🤯 https://preview--zoomable-fracta... this will supercharge new generations getting into coding and ideas being validated
this is epic - have been wanting to build a platform for users to store data related to DEXA scans, this seems like a perfect use-case to quickly and easily stand up a solution!
This is pretty sweet, and feels a lot more real with the github integration. I was able to spin up a front end with one sentence and 30seconds wait. I'm curious when you will support building BE as a no-code or low-code engineer? Would be amazing.
Congrats on the launch @antonosika and team!
@antonosika@tonyhanded Thanks for your support and comment, Tony! We already have a support for Supabase integration (auth/DB), but we are looking into making it even more comprehensive. Do you have some specific scenarios in mind that you'd like us to support?
@antonosika@vibor_cipan - yeah for me the scenario is grabbing info on webpage i'm on, look up contact info like linkedin profile url and send out connection requests.
Sounds like a very useful tool, @antonosika! Just explored the GPT Engineer from the outside, and it looks promising. Excited to see how it can speed up development. Congrats on the moving beta.
@antonosika@christopherdavidanderson hey, thanks for your kind words. If you'd like to get a more closer view, let us know what you'd like to build, and we'll fast-track you
