Digests are a powerful tool that allow you to combine communications from like-minded brands into one convenient email - delivered at your desired date and time. You can also add filters to further curate your digest content.
Congrats on the launch! 🚀 I am new to lockrMail and just created my account. I went to create a digest but don’t seem to be able to add any senders - what am I doing wrong?
Hi @bidkaromaniuk - thanks so much! Pumped you’ve signed up for lockrMail. Your lockrMail is your new public-facing email address - that means that brands must email your lockrMail alias (instead of your Gmail, outlook, work email, etc.) in order for them to show in your dashboard as “Senders”. I’d recommend signing up for a few sites with your lockrMail email - as soon as they contact your lockrMail, they will display as Senders and you’ll be able to add them to a Digest. If you already have accounts or subscriptions coming to a personal email - simply switch it over to your lockrMail email.
@bidkaromaniuk In the "Discover" section of the site, you can find suggested newsletters and sites where you can use your lockrMail along with registration links. This is a great place to start getting a few new Senders to your lockrMail so you can test out the Digest functionality!
@mjain_mayank Thanks for the kind words 🙌 Can’t wait to hear your feedback once you test out the feature! We are actually in the process of updating (and hopefully improving!) the on-boarding experience. If you are up for it, I'd love to walk you through our thoughts. DM me!
Congrats on the launch! I've started using a very similar product a few weeks ago and was very surprised how many newsletters can be sent in just one digests to read once a day and still never miss anything, already paid for that service for a year and I think it's the future of reading those newsletters!
@maxslch glad to hear the problem resonated with you. As you continue to use the competitor I would welcome you to ping me on Twitter and share any of the features that resonate with you the most - we are always looking for ways to improve and hope we can serve you further on down the line.
Hi Everyone! 👋 I’m Keith Petri, founder of lockr. We are thrilled to launch Digests by lockrMail on Product Hunt today!
Since our initial launch in 2021, we have grown to tens of thousands of users and added many new product features (https://lockrmail.com/product-re...), but I am most excited to share with you the first iteration of Digests!
🎉 Introducing Digests 🎉
As productivity enthusiasts, we created lockrMail to give you more control over your inbox, but one key aspect was always missing - the WHEN.
To say receiving emails throughout the day is distracting is an understatement. If you’re like me, you’re constantly taking small breaks to check your inbox - interrupting your work productivity or even time with friends and family on the weekends. With lockrMail Digests, you can limit the volume of communications you receive by bundling similar Senders into a single digest. You can also control when that email is received, effectively optimizing delivery to fit your busy schedule.
🔒About lockrMail 🔒
lockrMail is a new email, but not a new inbox. When you sign-up for lockrMail, you create a public-facing email address that you can feel confident using across the web. lockrMail seamlessly forwards all communication to your current inbox. You can decide if you want to allow or block a sender, add a filter, block an entire domain, and (now!) create a digest.
🧹Reduce inbox clutter - pre-filter for relevant content.
🚫 Preserve your privacy - never give out your personal email again.
📧 Maintain your email routine - lockrMail seamlessly forwards all communication to any email client.
lockrMail is a FREE product. While Digests is currently an early access feature, for this week only (in celebration of our Product Hunt launch! 🚀) we are offering instant 🔥 access to Digests for all new Product Hunt users. Simply register with the link above and snag your preferred username while it's still available!
For any existing lockrMail users, you need only refer one friend to lockrMail and we’ll give you access to Digests as well.
My team and I so appreciate your support and look forward to your questions and feedback! 🙏
I have just spent 3 minutes reading your page and part of the long essay bellow. I still have no idea what your product is. I highly suggest working on copy. The language you use smells like corporate sells, super vague. Based on this, your product can by anything or nothing. It builds low authority.
They way you phrase problems is artificial and you use too much filler words. Focus more on why than how the the way looks.
Please can check Amazon Writing Guidelines, it is a good start.
@konrad_bujak appreciate you taking the time to review it in-depth - certainly sucks that we missed the mark. If you could clarify, what page did you visit for 3 minutes? We link to a specific landing page that only has ~10 sentences on it (with graphics breaking it up). Plus, our homepage has an animation and a few blurbs. We have tried to streamline the explanation as much as possible.
Do you have a specific link for the Amazon Writing Guidelines you are referring to? I see you mention it in a few of your comments on other launches. Thanks.
Just signed up and I have to say I love your UI you guys did a great job. As a UX designer myself I always check what others do. The feature that allows to set up when I receive emails is something I wish I had 10 years ago. Will dive into the Digests too)
@helendomina thanks so much for the support. We are always improving and our early users are what has helped shaped the current UI you see. Excited to hear your thoughts as you get settled! 🙏
Love this! Just upvoted. One piece of feedback: lead with your 'Overwhelmed by email? Control what emails you receive and when you receive them' lines. It took me a few clicks and some scanning to figure out what you'll do for me, but those two lines made it all click!
@chevycassar appreciate you taking the time to provide this perspective. We have certainly played with how we communicate our value proposition a lot since first launching - and with each new feature it begs to question what positioning will resonate the most with the widest audience (everyone uses email!). Adding this suggestion to our internal positioning doc now! Let me know if you have any questions as you familiarize yourself with the product.
Thanks @jtluchs! There is no limit on either! Depending on your email client, if you have a lot of emails in a single Digest, the message may get clipped (though you can still view in the browser), so you may want to set delivery on those more frequently.
Thanks @ken_g. This is a GREAT question. The settings for Senders within a Digest are actually completely separate from the settings for Senders in your general dashboard. We did this intentionally as we felt there was a strong use case for wanting certain emails to arrive via Digest and others to get delivered immediately. As an example, say one of your Senders is Nordstrom. You may want to add Nordstrom to a Digest with a filter of Discounts > 30%, while setting Nordstrom in your main dashboard with a filter of Order Updates. This set-up would ensure that you are notified immediately on the status of any order you place with Nordstrom (purchase confirmation, e-receipt, tracking and delivery updates), but that you only receive promotional emails from Nordstrom about sales they are having in the Digest format. If you ONLY want to receive emails from a given Sender in a Digest, I would suggest clicking BLOCK on that Sender in your dashboard. Does that make sense?
Been a user for a few months now and am immensely enjoying the easy filtering capabilities the tool grants the end users. I have referred a few friends since, and got access to the Digest, which allows me to say that I still wish the digest was the default for the daily blocked email format. I will also say that @keithepetri is very responsive on their Twitter when some strangeness happens :) Keep up the great work.
@zemartial - great to hear from you. Certainly trials and tribulations as we perfect the service and continue to scale (hence why we love the Product Hunt community so much!). Thanks for being an early product user and understanding that we sometimes release features before they are perfect!
Thanks @zemartial for the feedback! Are you saying you wish the lockrBox email had the same format as Digests? Would love to get more clarity on what you mean so we can take it into consideration.
@jenny_hagan, of course: the default "Here's what you missed..." email just shows the blocked emails as a list, while the digest shows a few lines of each received email. Those few lines would make it easier to decide if I want a blocked email sent since there is no way to preview blocked emails.
I do enjoy the fact that I can reply to an email, and it will reply with the lockrmail address.
I have had issues with filtering rules but did not investigate further at the time, likely user errors :)
@zemartial thank you this is really helpful feedback and we will definitely discuss. I can for sure see how that would be useful! As for filters - the footers in the email can often be the culprit as they contain a lot of key words that may not always be in the email itself. But if you click “flag filter error” button on the email wrapper it will send us a notice and we’d be happy to investigate. We may be able to suggest a better filter combination or the error could help us improve our filter logic. Thanks for being such a great user!
I'm a happy and proud Lockrmail user and I love what @keithepetri and the team have created. I happy to see that everyone has access to digests now - go try it!
@howardgr you spoil us! Thanks for being there since day 1! If you have any feedback don't hesitate to share here or with me directly. A few more exciting things on the roadmap 😉
@noles We like to say that lockrMail is a new email but not a new inbox. Think of your lockrMail email alias like the doorman for your inbox. Anyone on the list, gets in the door; anyone not on the list (so to speak), gets denied entry. So emails from any brands you ‘Allow’ - get delivered immediately to your current inbox (whether that be Gmail, outlook, a work email, etc.). The lockrMail dashboard is only used to manage your settings - meaning you go to app.lockrMail.com to block a Sender, add a Filter, create a Digest, etc., but emails are always viewed and read in your current email inbox. We wanted to create a tool that would fit seamlessly within your routine and not require a complete shift.
lockrMail is amazing! I’ve been using it for several months now. The team is super responsive and reported bugs are always fixed so quickly. I also love the UI - super easy to use. This new feature is going to bring the utility of lockrMail to the next level!
@rubengersons Thanks so much for being an early product user and providing such valuable feedback! You have truly helped shape Digests into what it is! 🙏
I am a newsletter-lover which is a blessing and a curse. Excited to test out Digests as a new format to consolidate my many daily and weekly newsletters!
I love that we can add filters to Digests. I have a Digest with retail discounts from my favorite brands and have made it a habit to browse this on Wednesdays as a mid-week pick-me-up!
It’s awesome how well you guys listen to user feedback! I know several of us shared how we’d like a digest-style feature and I’m pumped to see it’s now live!
@adrian_bolosan Thanks so much for being an early product user and providing such valuable feedback! You have truly helped shape Digests into what it is! 🙏
