"The world’s first wireless battery pack" seems like a cool product and it looks a nice color etc. but this statement is very disingenuous and unnecessary. I've had a wireless battery pack for over a year from other manufacturers.
Anna Filou
@_jacksmith which one? I somehow wasn't aware they exist, would like to look into it
ImAfricanJesus
@anna_0x @_jacksmith Definitely not the first wireless battery pack but its unique and different than anything else.
Anna Filou
@_jacksmith @imafricanjesus thanks, I guess I somehow missed the whole wireless revolution 😆 I do agree though that Bunk here looks pretty unique but part of the appeal probably comes from the nice marketing.

Hey Product Hunters, Don’t you hate it when your battery runs out at the most important times? But don’t want to resort to ugly, heavy power bricks and cases? We designed Bunk from the ground up to be the most convenient, easy to use portable smartphone battery ever. It just snaps to your phone magnetically and start charging! 80% of smartphone owners suffer from “range anxiety” but we all know how inconvenient (and ugly) existing battery cases and power bricks are. So we built Bunk to solve that. Packed with a 1800mAh battery, 3-coil magnetic transmitter, and magnets with 80N of force, Bunk snaps perfectly onto your phone every time and provides charge. Other features include: •Auto on/off — shuts off when detached •Pass-through charging •Support for devices without wireless charging (via our super-thin receiver) We’re so happy to share our invention with you and we’d love to hear any kind of feedback! Thanks! Daniel and Will

@15greenberg How do you do QI charging through the magnetic plate?
Will Kail
@guillaumecabane Hi Guillaume! The magnetic layer has been carefully designed. We've placed the magnets on the far edges of the part to avoid it interfering with QI charging.

You mean product hunt world’s first wireless battery pack? There are product like this about a year ago.
Jordi Bruin
Looks really cool @15greenberg and @willkail ! I noticed that the video on your site mentions 70% charge and 40% off, while the text says 80% and 50%. Maybe something to look into. These would be great to rent out at festivals as well! Also, I would love to see the actual colors that are up for ordering. Right now it's not clear to me what the blue color looks like for example. Same goes for the white and black, do they have the spots on them etc?
Dmitri Kyle Brereton
This is magical. Can you maybe give a brief explanation of how this technology works because I wasn't even aware this was possible.
Will Kail
@dkb868 We're using QI Wireless Charging to supply the charge - it's a standard that has been adopted by Apple, Samsung, Google (and essentially every other smartphone manufacturer) which makes Bunk near universal. No more searching for USB-C or Lightning cables! We're really excited to get this into people's hands!

My iPhone always runs out of battery but I refuse to buy any of those battery cases out there since they're so bulky and ugly. This looks to solve that, and the magnetic snapping feature looks super cool.

Pros:

Beautiful product design, solves a big problem

Cons:

None

Why would you review it if you’ve never used the product before?
Scott Wyden Kivowitz
I just did a review on YouTube of two popular Qi power banks. So this would be a great follow up to that!
Charles Postiaux
Looks really cool! As a traveler and digital nomad, I’m using my phone quite a lot throughout the day and out off battery pretty quickly. This could really help me!
Jeroen De Prest
At 50% off it is a great price but I think it might be a bit too thick for me... and my phone doesn't support wireless charging. Maybe a good idea to create a case to add wireless charging to a phone?
Scott Williams
@15greenberg This looks similar to Brickspower (http://www.brickspower.com). How is Bunk different?
Jack Smith
@scottwwilliams both products claim to be the "first wireless charger" when others are already available on Amazon.
Will Kail
@scottwwilliams Hi Scott, great question! We've been developing this with an incredibly talented design team for over a year and we've managed to identity and overcome some serious design issues with Bunk in that time. Brickspower definitely hasn't received the same level of love, and fails in a couple of areas. The main one is its attachment method - Bunk is magnetic so snaps onto any surface (including the 79% of users that use a case!) and it auto-aligns with the phone's wireless receiver coil perfectly each time. Brickspower requires a gloss surface to stick to the device, and for the user to carefully align it by eye each time they need to charge. Without perfect alignment, wireless charging becomes really inefficient. We made sure that Bunk is as simple and hassle-free as possible so that it truly works for users as a solution to on-the-go charging, it's really something special!.

@15greenberg, @willkail Can I use other wireless charging pads if I have the magnet piece on the back of my phone?
Mirco Wilhelm
For someone who just bought a 10'000 mAh wireless charging powerbank with USB A and C ports in similar size for less money, they do look kind of pricey to me.
Chris Tomlinson
Looks cool @willkail . Thankfully my OnePlus 6 has enough capacity at the moment but this is certainly a solution to a problem I've had a lot in the past and no doubt in future too so I'll keep an eye on it. The website is surprisingly US focussed given that you're Bristol based (like me!). Are you planning to sell outside the states at some point?
Krishna Murari
Great job on the product's design, looks super chic. Picked one up for myself! Curious to see how the N52s do their job. Quick feedback on the website: Picking a color while checking out could be more visual. Had to scroll through the landing page a few times to figure how each color(+pattern) would look.
Andrew Cretin

I would love if there was a way for Bunk to fasten directly to the phone, even if that meant fastening the magnetic piece directly onto your device.

Pros:

Very sleek design. Will hold in place

Cons:

Must use a phone case in order to use the product

Jon Wheatley
This looks very cool. Does it work with any iPhone case?
Will Kail
@jon Thanks Jon! It works with most cases, ones that are super thick (Otterbox style) can be fussy, and some wallet cases have metal stiffeners inside which interfere with wireless charging - but any ordinary case works a treat!
Vlad Korobov
Can it be charged wirelessly or only through cable?
James Alexander

Why this requires a specific iphone case is beyond me. Their same tech could be made universal by just pulling the mag tech out of the case and making it an adhesive to back of phone/current case.

Pros:

Extra Battery Life, Hot-swappable

Cons:

Requires a separate case, Lacks universal support for Android and Iphone

Will Kail
@james_alexander1 I think you're confused! Bunk is universal and works cross-platform/with any case! It does use an adhesive magnetic layer that sticks to the inside of your existing case. Check out our site to inform yourself a bit more about Bunk! ⚡
Anna Filou
@james_alexander1 @willkail question: even if the phone supports wireless charging out of the box (I have the Note 9), Hunk still requires a sticker/case? Can the sticker be used without a case?
Jordi Bruin
Why would you review this if you've never tried the product before?
Will Kail
@anna_0x Hi Anna! You can use Bunk without a case - you'll just need to attach our magnetic layer straight onto the back of your phone rather than on the inside of the case. We found that most people used cases but we also really wanted Bunk to work with those who choose not to use one!
Lino Grubben
A hardware product! And what a clever and beautiful one! We need more of them here! 😄
Joon Kee Park
Nice! Looks like a big improvement to my battery pack
