Looks like LinkedIn is challenging Upwork!

It is great to see LinkedIn expanding their offering in this way. It's still about professionals and jobs which is closely related to the existing core of LinkedIn. This has the potential to be a massive new long-term revenue stream for if LinkedIn gets this to product/market fit and beyond. Not to mention they'll get more freelancers to create accounts and update their profiles.

@tomflemming any context? your comment doesn't make much sense otherwise

@_jacksmith Questionable approach. Linkedin seems to be a remnant of a previous age. Here's to the Quibb, ADN and new networks that appreciate their users and work for and with them.

Cool concept, has a lot of potential. Only available in SF right now, and highly dependent on the personal reviews on LinkedIn which may be refreshing for the actual feature as a whole.

Finally, an actual use-case for linked-in. Bravo.

I really like this. It's going to be interesting to see how it impacts the gig-economy. In a world where freelancers are expected to become more and more common - this presents a great opportunity to drive more entrepreneurship. I'm interested in seeing how they manage the transaction - If it's similar to UpWork, this could be a huge revenue driver for LinkedIn.

Does anyone know if we pay freelancers directly or through LinkedIn?

Awesome! I guess it's generated from LinkedIn SEARCH. I bet more and more professionals would start using #ProFinder than Linkedin's search module because it has got limitations with "how many times one can conduct a search with filters using keyword/positions/city."

I really think LinkedIn is becoming much more powerful than it was just a couple years ago. This tool is another one huge step forward. Let us see if it succeeds...

How does it work as far as business model? Does LinkedIn take a fee from the professional once he closes the deal?

Only in The Bay area... Bummer! I realise they have to roll it out in steps to try to limit missteps. I'll be looking forward to it!

I'm in Europe and very eager to try this out. Already hustling on LinkedIn and other places. Very grateful to have plenty of clients, and that these clients love my work. Always looking for more.... xeniawordart.com/work
