Kosy is a virtual space for remote teams to work and hang out in. Use spatial video-chat to get in and out of conversations naturally, customise your space to make it feel like yours and make spending time with your remote team fun & productive!
Hello Product Hunt👋!
We're excited to share with you today Kosy : a virtual space where remote teams can work and hang out in!
Over the last year, we spoke to thousands of you working in collaborative teams ranging from early-stage startups, product, engineering and learned what was needed to build connected remote teams. We heard that it was necessary to bring fun & excitement into virtual interactions, make it more natural and easy to get in and out of conversations, and have those interactions in a space that feels like a space.
Over the last year, we've been working hard on Kosy and are excited to put it in your hands today to help you find the right balance between work and fun and build camaraderie & trust within your remote team.
Our product & key features
🕹 HD Spatial audio-video chat: Start a conversation by walking up to a teammate with your arrow keys. The closer you are, the louder you will hear them.
🌐 Fully customizable spaces: Make your space your own and customize it with a variety of objects & themes.
🗯️ Interactive rooms: Pick from a variety of rooms, each with different functionalities including meeting rooms, stand-ups, 1-on-1s, and focus corners.
🖥 Various work & play integrations: Make your team more productive & cohesive with one of our integrations including whiteboards, screen sharing, Youtube, Miro, Google Drive, Figma!
How teams currently use Kosy
🆙 Stand-up/team sync: Instead of running your stand-up via Zoom, just gather round in a circle to take turns sharing your updates. No awkward "who's next" and afterward it is easy to break out into smaller groups for follow-up chats.
👫 Team co-working: After a morning stand-up, many teams like to sit together in their team room for some co-working time (for at least a portion of the day). If you have a question - just unmute and ask your teammates.
🤫 Focus session: Declaring your intentions for what you need to get done and getting paired with someone else creates accountability and increases productivity. You can run focus sessions in Kosy as well - just pick a colleague, a time, and get to work!
⚡️ Quick questions: It is often much quicker (and more fun) to chat with someone over audio/video than sending dozens of messages over Slack or Teams. If a colleague is not busy and sitting at their desk, you can walk up to them and start talking right away.
🥳 Social chats: Elevators. Coffee machines. Hallways. These are all artifacts of the physical office that lead to social interactions. While Kosy cannot make you a real coffee, we've built other virtual triggers that drive spontaneous chats. For example, when you see a colleague enter the social lounge, you know they are open for a conversation.
Our team
Fun fact: We are a fully remote team of 10 distributed all over Europe. Most of us have never met in real life and my co-founder and I @sam_meurs1 met over Reddit at the beginning of the pandemic! We are all meeting for the first time for our Christmas event in December in London).
We’re opening up Kosy for free today as we gather feedback, hoping to help teams working remotely get closer. Kosy is web-based so no need to download anything!
We are all very much looking forward to your feedback!
The Kosy team!
Good luck! Nice to see more products for a modern hybrid work, not only for a current meeting platforms like Sembly Personal, but also for entertainment like a Thursday and now a new meeting platforms itself.
Love the idea! I have tried several virtual hangout tools - they all have the same killer, which is large number of participants. Our company once has 10+ people joining a circle to hangout virtually with video call and our chat barely survived. Hope Kosy solve this issue :)
@vianingrowth Thanks Vian!! We current can hold up to 50 people in a meeting and we are working on a version which will be able to hold even more! Let us know if you have any feedback :-)
@vianingrowth@yanismellata as Yanis sais. We can host 50 no problem ✌️. We look forward to seeing you on the platform, and we really would love to get your feedback 🔥🔥
Super excited about this !! We’ve been using Kosy for a while now and my calendar has just cleared up, if I need something from a teammate I walk on over (or take the ufo) and tap them on the shoulder, have a quick chat and we both go on with our days.
Also, there is a duck 🦆
@teridactyl89 yep, I'm one of those that she regularly taps on the shoulder.
I was a bit skeptical with our earlier versions as I'm more of an introvert, but with our latest spatial version I find myself hanging out on a virtual beanbag while working from my physical couch and it makes such a difference to see who is around at a glance.
And like Teri said, if people need me, they know where to find me.
But I've also caught myself joining in on ad-hoc conversations that happen nearby on the floor, just like they used to happen in the physical office. It does make a difference.
@teridactyl89 Love bumping into you after our stand-ups to get a glimpse of your doggy or barging into one of your conversations with the engineering team!! It's so much fun working together on this Teri🙏.
I love that it doesn't try to mimic the real interior but rather is cartoony. I've been using Around lately for meetings with my team, but having looked at your feature list, I'm definitely going to give it a try! Also seeing @benln hunt you gives additional credibility ;)
hi @anna_0x ! great topic.
There are indeed a few virtual spaces that have launched in the last year-ish each with a unique experience. The problem we are all trying to tackle is massive: remote teams need a better way to interact and build camaraderie and there needs to be a better solution than jumping between Zoom & Slack. What we heard from speaking with many users is that given how big of a portion a virtual office takes within ones work day, the user experience needs to work with how they work and culture. Some teams prefer more gamified online experiences while other teams prefer more productive tools / desktop apps. Back when we started Kosy we were focused too heavily on the productivity side of the spectrum, offering one-click chats and breakout rooms. Now, based on feedback we’ve been receiving, we are balancing fun with productivity which so far we have gotten very positive feedback on. Would love for you to try it out and let us know what you think 😊
I use Kosy outside of office hours as well, with my friends to hang out and play games. It really makes things easy and natural; my friends love it too!
@dogmuffin thanks Han. You should definitely try this new version! Glad you liked the kosyiness 😜. We look forward to seeing you back on the platform 🔥🔥🔥
@dogmuffin Love the pun - which reminds us daily what feeling we want everyone to have when they join Kosy! Thanks for being an early user Han and being part of our journey :-)
I am really excited to see and use this product! Remote team always miss this kind of interaction and it will surely make remote work more fun!!
All the best team!!
Special audio-video engagement makes it much more lively! I am a kind of person who will be productive at work when working IRL or at a co-working space when you get the feeling that you are in a WORK environment together with your mates and not at HOME. Kosy seems to address this problem to help people like me become more productive even when working remotely from home!
@shreesh1909 thanks Shreesh! This is exactly what we’re aiming for, having our remote life cake, and eating it too 🍰. We’ve all seen the benefit of Kosy first hand and I doubt we could ever go back to a non Kosy world now ❤️🔥
Wow!! very much needed nowadays, will be implementing this with my team for sure! I love working remotely, but sometimes, things need to get talked over ASAP and this is an awesome solution to it! Cheers team 😄
Wow, congratulations to the idea and realization! As a selfemployed person who is not working with a team regularly it would be nice to have some kind of public (digital) coworking spaces. Where to meet other co-workers as well. Discuss things for example.
It's pretty amazing to sign into Kosy every day - we are all in different places, chatting to different people, rocking a new selfie. It brings excitement to day to day remote working. Proud of the team here and excited to keep pushing Kosy forward!
@eliezer_steinbock1 Thanks Ellie! We are currently working on building more interactive experiences on the floor (e.g., an announcement wall, co-working team rooms with music, customisable avatars). We are also planning more app and workflow integrations as well as UX updates (improved chat, people search).
Is there anything you'd suggest?
