It’s almost embarrassing how much I like this app - Klack

by

(I tried submitting this app but it looks like the company already claimed the URL and didn't post the launch? I couldn't find it in search results.)

I’m old enough to have used the original clicky IBM and Apple keyboards from the 80’s and 90’s. Since then, laptops are the norm and even external keyboards are silent.

While I love a good mechanical keyboard, the Touch ID button on the Apple Magic Keyboard is just too convenient to give up.

Enter Klack.

Klack uses your Mac’s audio to produce the sounds of a mechanical keyboard no matter what keyboard you’re using.

It offers features such as different sounds for up/down keystrokes, spatial audio for headphone users, and customizable switches. You can choose between CherryMX Japanese Black, Everglide Crystal Purple, Everglide Oreo, Flurples Cardboard, NovelKeys Cream, and my favorite, Gateron Milky Yellow.

It even supports mouse click sounds to add a little more life to your track pad.

And while I used a typewriter in high school and some of college, I’m definitely not nostalgic for them so I opt out of the “ding” sound when you hit return.

It’s $4.99 on the Mac App Store and worth every penny to this GenXer.

okay- this is totally a niche product...except I know@johnfedericoand totally get what he's saying. I have a fancy DasKeyboard, another fancy keyboard and even a Macally keyboard that is like the old school original Apple Keyboards. But touchID and the short throw of the TouchID extended keyboard is hard to give up. I'll give it a look...
